Higher education institutions need to define their faculty profile to guarantee educational quality. This paper seeks to research the faculty competencies which, according to students, eased their learning. The study was carried out in a private Mexican university. Through focus groups consisting of students, we obtained a list of the most outstanding practices by faculty with the best evaluations. Such practices translated into questions which, in turn, turned into an observation guide subjected to validation by experts of the same university. As a result, the three-dimensional competency model for university faculty was validated.

The persistent issue of student dropout negatively impacts the educational sector and society at large. This study presents a machine learning model that leverages data from the National Household Survey to predict student dropout in Peru, integrating a wide range of socio-demographic variables. The research fills a gap in existing literature by providing a model that incorporates socio-demographic variables, an area not fully explored in previous studies. The predictive model aims to identify factors associated with student dropout, aiding educational stakeholders in implementing effective interventions. The findings underscore the model's potential to enhance educational outcomes by enabling early identification of at-risk students, thereby facilitating targeted support. This work contributes to refining predictive models of university dropout rates and sug- gests the use of ensemble m...

Objetive: The investigation consisted in investigating and validating an evaluation model of teacher's performance through the modeling of structural SEM equations applying LISREL. Method: An initial model based on the results of investigations and data from bibliographic referents was proposed. In previous studies they only consider the influence of some variables over the result variable. The proposed initial model consists of fourteen constructs. Six exogenous and six endogenous with their respective observable or measureable variables and in accordance with the causal methodology a diagram of cause is plotted — effect among the constructs, each relationship between the variables is codified for its statistical treatment. Information about the observable variables was collected through previously validated questionnaires from three sources: students, teachers and the immediate autho...

The purpose of this article is to present a critical review of the ways in which the performance of university teachers are usually evaluated. Generally, the institutions state proposal of evaluation that usually coincide with what is evaluated and the use of the results. It includes the review of the different evaluation models to show the discrepancies between the objectives and the practices, that is, the poor relationship between the model used and what is done. Universities usually declare that the focus of the evaluation is improvement of practice. One of the most used instruments is the questionnaire, with which an accurate measurement can be made, but generally it does not evaluate the teaching performance, but, in the best-case scenario, the opinion of the students. If universities state that the evaluation should serve to improve the teaching practice, it would be advisable to ...

Teachers´ engagement in change processes is closely related to their attitudes and views on education. Therefore, any successful educational change demands that teachers reevaluate their profession, as personal and professional factors are clearly relevant. The goal of this study is to test a predictive statistical model of teacher´s engagement in educational change considering personality factors and self-evaluation. The random and representative sample of Peruvian teachers comprised of 888 subjects. Results show good model fit and a strong predictive power on educational changes. The study confirms that personality and selfconcept are strong predictors on teacher´s engagement with educational change.

The purpose of the study is to measure the adjustment of an explanatory model of student performance in the subject of General Statistics at the La Molina National Agrarian University (UNALM) through the statistical technique of Structural Equation Models. The proposed model considers four factors: student performance, teacher performance, personal perception, and past performance. Two assessment instruments are applied in the study, first to measure personal perception, and the second, is to measure teacher performance. Cronbach's Alpha Reliability Coefficient is used to verify the reliability requirement and the Confirmatory Factor Analysis to verify the validity requirement of the assessment instruments. In both assessment instruments indicators obtain to confirm their reliability and validity. The fit of the proposed model was verified using the goodness of fit indicators, finding th...

This research has been designed with the objective of analyzing the indicators of teacher motivation and performance to determine a factorial model of prediction in teachers. The methodology corresponds to a quantitative approach of a predictive nature, for this, two instruments were used and they were applied to two populations: the motivation instrument was applied to teachers and the teacher performance instrument, to students of the 4th and 5th year of secondary level. The participants were made up of 59 teachers and 197 students. The KMO index was 0.636, this allowed a factor analysis that follows a methodological process of seven well-defined phases. The results yielded three clusters: extrinsic and transcendental motivation (cluster 1); intrinsic motivation (cluster 2); and teaching performance (cluster 3) in which two eigenvalues greater than 1 were obtained, allowing us to...
