This research seeks to promote the development of reading comprehension through the application of metacognitive strategies, as well as to publicize the importance of metacognition processes at different reading levels and the usefulness of designing teaching units that meet specific learning needs. For this, a qualitative - descriptive study was carried out with students in the third and fourth grades of primary school, in which the data obtained from the application of a didactic unit were analyzed, which included questionnaires in which the use was encouraged of metacognitive strategies (previous knowledge, prediction and verification and summary). Similarly, the metacognitive processes of: planning, monitoring and evaluation, worked at different times of reading (before, during and after) were taken into account. The results obtained show that metacognitive strategies make it possibl...

• Beyond the traditional view of reading as a passive skill, it is clear that reading comprehension is definitely an interactive psycholinguistic process, and should be seen as treated as such by teachers and students. • Ausubel´s proverbial claim that "the student knows" seems to be grounded on solid empirical experience. It seems to be a fact that each person has a whole body of prior knowledge and past experiences they hold in their brains and bring to the class should not be ignored. • As a student's reading skills to develop, comprehension is vital. There necessitates a deliberate, deliberate interaction between the text, the reader, and the context. • Prior knowledge is not activated automatically: we need to activate it the means by means of strategies. Strategies, then, play a central role to foster comprehension and in the long run, learning. • So as the students have...

The research arises from the scarcity of reading habits among children at the initial level in the Jorge Álvarez Educational Unit. Students avoid the literary corner, showing disinterest in the infrastructure and books, which are often outdated or unappealing to them. It is proposed to contribute to a didactic strategy based on the use of audiobooks to promote reading. It adopts a qualitative perspective supported by the inductive method. The study involved mentor teachers, whose responses were collected through an open interview, and a content analysis was conducted. The results obtained demonstrate that teachers apply reading animation techniques. However, the "tell me a story" strategy, using audiobooks based on legends, local myths, and adaptations of traditional tales with language grounded in their ethnic context, helps to arouse greater interest and motivation in early childhood ...

Research on graphic organizers and reading comprehension has taken up new reins in the knowledge about the reader's mental processes, but it has been avoided to understand the levels in the reading process. The importance of organizers often focuses on the power they demonstrate to allow the reader to analyze and map ideas, especially concept maps and mind maps. In this study, we propose to determine the effects of graphic organizers on text comprehension at the school stage. The study is quantitative of quasi-experimental design. It was developed in 42 students from the primary level of Callao, Peru. The results allow concluding that the graphic organizers improved the comprehension of texts in general. The evidences remit significant differences with scores compared at the literal level. The results of inferential understanding presented data that revealed improvement, although it was ...

This article studies the interaction between tradition and colloquialism in Cancionero sin nombre (1937), Poemas y Antipoemas (1954), La cueca Larga (1958) and Manifiesto (1963) by Nicanor Parra. These texts are studied considering Belic's proposals in Verso español y verso europeo regarding free verse. Likewise, we apply what Antonio Quilis points out in Métrica española for the metrical and rhythmic analysis of the selected poems. The hypothesis of this article is that both colloquialism and tradition converge in the free verse advocated by the Chilean poet. In this sense, this paper present, first, a general approach to Nicanor Parra's work, followed by a comparative analysis of the poetry books and, finally, the conclusions.

This investigation looking for to close a cycle of reading comprehension, because in previous jobs we already have demostrated that cognitive capacities was too fundamental specially en inferential capacity. The general objective propose lectures with the particular inferential strategies, which are a guarantee of reading comprehension. Consistent with this, the stated objectives are: a) Confirming the value of the strategies and the relevant procedures for the processing of information, which is essential for understanding and text production. b) Apply inference strategies in selected texts for students of V and VI Basic Education cycles. c) Propose reading modules with cognitive strategies aimed at inference processes to improve reading comprehension. What we expected was that students in the experimental groups, after application of the proposed modules, achieving greater development ...

The objective was to understand the training process in research as an academic practice, raising the need for strategies in the face of the weak habit of reading in training settings that allow us to respond to the crisis of interpretation of social problems. This reflection was raised from the phenomenological-hermeneutic method with a social-critical approach in a period of 2 years, training and accompanying 436 students with 145 proposals of formative research, collecting information through 5 semi-structured interviews with teachers and 50 student surveys. Therefore, this reflection is the starting point of a pedagogical proposal that promotes reading and critical reflection exercises. Consequently, the social sciences must formulate research routes that cross the curriculum, seeking in turn to guide and enhance the work of students in research procedures.

The research is a comparative method, transversal. It had the pur¬pose to compare the goals and motivations in choosing a profes¬sional career in 347 students of university first terms in Kinder¬garten Education, Primary Education, and Languages, all of them in a range of 20 to 22 years old. An instrument with three versions was elaborated, based on the theoretical framework proposed by Gámez y Marrero (2003). The evidences confirm significant dif¬ferences in the goals and motivations; these differences are more noticeable between students of the careers of Primary Education and Languages (sig. <.001), and between Kindergarten Education and Languages (sig.<.001). Finally, the goals and motivations were largely differentiated according to the gender (sig.<. 005), being the average for women (prom.=139.3/sig.<.005).

It´s been amply proved that there is an early and determining relationship between the knowledge of academic, standard language, and a higher level of achievement at school. We also know that children belonging to lower socio-economic status face an early disadvantaged situation, which limits the maximum development of their potentialities; in these cases, it is common that, by the time they have enrolled in school, it is already too late to close the growing gap between them and more economically advantaged groups. The present university social responsibility project provided a group of public preschool teachers with scientific, evidence-based, information, regarding the relation between early vocabulary, literacy development, and its implications for good school achievement. We shared a specific intervention proposal with the teachers, for early vocabulary teaching, based o...
