In the implementation of big data projects, several problems are identified that may be due to different factors, such as the low quality of the data used with anomalies that may affect the accuracy of the results or the lack of clarity in the business objectives. This situation can lead to errors in the decision making process, delays in deliveries and even the cancellation of the project. In this context, the present work arises from the need to compile previous research in order to know the importance of the application of a working methodology in big data projects. The objective is to identify the approaches of the most used methodologies and to analyze the characteristics of each one, as well as the common or transversal characteristics that allow the combination, or adaptation, of different methodologies in the same project. The generation of large volumes of data from different so...

CLIMANDES is a pilot twinning project between the National Weather Services of Peru and Switzerland (SENAMHI and MeteoSwiss), developed within the Global Framework for Climate Services of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Split in two modules, CLIMANDES aims at improving education in meteorology and climatology in support of the WMO Regional Training Center in Peru, and introducing user-tailored climate services in two pilot regions in the Peruvian Andes. Four areas were prioritized in the first phase of CLIMANDES lasting from 2012 to 2015 to introduce climate services in Peru. A demand study identified the user needs of climate services and showed that climate information must be reliable, of high-quality, and precise. The information should be accessible and timely, understandable and applicable for the users’ specific needs. Second, the quality of climate data was enhance...

This study evaluates the implementation of the digital platform Safety Culture (iAuditor) to optimize quality assurance and control (QA/QC) processes in multifamily construction projects, reducing time requirements and errors associated with traditional methods. Using a quasi-experimental approach, manual processes (pen-and-paper) were compared with real-time digital workflows, demonstrating that the tool eliminates redundant steps such as transcriptions and scanning, saving up to 60 minutes per inspection. Results showed significant improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and data accessibility, though challenges remain in externally coordinated activities. The proposed solution included staff training and customized digital form templates, highlighting its potential as a replicable model for the construction industry.

The objective of this work was to compare different approaches that allow a better characterization of the environmental quality using benthic macroinvertebrates as indicators in rivers of the southwestern highlands. The study was developed with data from the hydrobiology monitoring of the Quellaveco Project between the years 2013-2015, with which we obtained quality indices (ABI, EPT, IMEERA and SVAP), community structure indices (Shannon, Simpson, N1 of the Hill and Pielou series) and functional diversity indices (richness, diversity, dissimilarity and functional equity, and Rao’s Q). The results of the multivariate analyzes showed that the rates of functional diversity, Simpson’s index and IMEERA have significant representativeness in the study units. We concluded that functional diversity indices can be alternative to traditional and environmental quality indices, in addition to ...

It's well known that the duration of the engineering programs in Latin American countries like Peru are of order of 5 years, roughly. Commonly, the target of the fifth year of program is to carry out activities of thesis and capstone projects. Clearly these activities would demand that the student can exhibit skills and a certain level of maturity which might be crucial for a successful completion of the projects. However, the expected performance of the students might be correlated to the educational features of the institution (university, technological institute, etc) to some extent. In this manner, in this paper we try to measure the quality of education (QoE) of a Peruvian engineering program through the application of a mathematical methodology based on the individual score of students along the time where the projects take place. Furthermore, the error of the model is interpreted ...
