The underrepresentation of women in STEM fields needs to be highlighted through data to assist decisionmakers and public policy creators in addressing the issue effectively. However, the lack of structured, organized data published openly in this domain is still a reality. To address this problem, a Latin American research network called ELLAS was created. The project’s goal is to develop a platform with Semantic Web-based technologies to structure and concentrate data from Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia, initially. This paper presents the processes defined for the collection and curation of both unstructured and structured data, sourced from scientific articles, social networks, and existing open data. We explore the architecture design in a way that facilitates understanding of the details of the processes and the actors involved for each data source. We present the preliminary results fr...

Technological advances have allowed to collect and store large volumes of data over the years. Besides, it is significant that today's applications have high performance and can analyze these large datasets effectively. Today, it remains a challenge for data mining to make its algorithms and applications equally efficient in the need of increasing data size and dimensionality [1]. To achieve this goal, many applications rely on parallelism, because it is an area that allows the reduction of cost depending on the execution time of the algorithms because it takes advantage of the characteristics of current computer architectures to run several processes concurrently [2]. This paper proposes a parallel version of the FuzzyPred algorithm based on the amount of data that can be processed within each of the processing threads, synchronously and independently.

Is there a correspondence or affinity between the juridicalprincipiological and factual-economical conceptions for the effective protection of the consent of the holder of personal data when hiring in a network?Under the mantle of the present question, it aims to analyze the contemporary contractual scenario under the perspective of the privacy policy and the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD). In this context, it is proposed a skeptical reflection on the principles and economic guidelines defended by law and doctrine to verify if the consent is an instrument of real effectiveness to the tutelage of the subjects in network. The first topic concerns the conceptual and conceptual analysis of consent in the LGPD and in the specialized doctrine. The second topic deals with the limited rationality of the users of the network services in understanding the dispositions in the pol...

Given that human development is a complex process involving multiple components and determiningfactors, multidimensional indicators are needed. On the basis of the extensive literatureon the subject, we advance two new indicators: the Matrix of Capabilities and Functioning(MCF), and the Algorithm of Human Development (HDA).The MCF is composed of vectors of capabilities and functionings, based on Sen’s idea of RefinedFunctionings. It is based in a matricial framework, both static and dynamic. The main purposeof constructing this index is to study how different sets of capabilities relate to alternativefunctionings, to produce diverse outcomes. The Human Development Algorithm (HAD) is a multidimensional index concerning the setof goods and services needed to complete a life cycle. The HDA is a socio-economic contextindicator. It is composed of the main «satisfactors» or basic goods and ...

The quality of a research work depends, mainly, on the adequate choice of the design and development of the techniques, as well as the instruments that will be used. Once the identification of the problem, the determination of the variables and the conceptualization have been carried out, it will proceed to its decomposition into dimensions, indicators and items, a fundamental activity to find its essence. This item construction procedure requires cognitive domain of the categories to be used; For this, it is necessary to create a theoretical framework, based on existing documentation. Then proceed with the design and development of the instrument, which will necessarily go through an assessment process to determine its construct validity, content, item analysis, confirmatory analysis, and reliability. The instruments generally respond to the type, level and design of the investigation, ...

Lima experienced in August 2016 a massive mobilization against violence against women. From different theoretical approaches (frustration, mobilization of resources, collective action and political opportunity) an attempt was made to explain these events; however, few focused on the framing approach as an instrument of social mobilization. Thus, collective action frameworks are action-oriented sets of beliefs and meanings that inspire and legitimize social movement organizing activities and campaigns. We see that social movements seek to build a discourse through frames, which give them the opportunity to sustain the movement, or, as far as possible, to add a greater number of followers and seek solutions that benefit them. To do this, we start from the question: What frames were the most important in the Facebook managed by the collective “Ni Una Menos Peru: they touch one touch all...

The aim of this work is to design, implement and validate a primary communication system based on a brain-computer interface. There are people who-for various reasons-are affected in their ability to externalize their communication, however, they receive and process information from different sources. This system would allow basic communication-allowing the user to answer closed questions-through thought. The system was implemented by analyzing and interpreting electrical signals from brain activity, collected through electrodes attached to the scalp. The analog electrical signals were received by a data acquisition system and digitized for computer analysis. We implemented different signal processing techniques, pattern analysis, and classification and discrimination methods. By analyzing these signals and interpreting the electrical patterns, was achieved understand answers to simple q...
