As more actions are needed to reduce the current gap in leadership positions in STEM and IT, it is important to systematically study existing policies and programs that promote gender equality. This research-in-progress (RIP) presents the status of one of the research activities of a larger ongoing project that seeks to advance impact research about women's leadership in STEM fields in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in Latin America. Specifically, this study uses two approaches: (a) gray literature search, and (b) systematic literature review search in four recognized citation databases to identify the obtaining crosscountry comparable data to assess policies and interventions to reduce the gender gap in STEM. Researchers and policy makers interested in policies that promote female participation and gender equality will benefit from the results of this study.

The underrepresentation of women in IT related majors such as computer science, computer engineering, and information systems (IS) has been evident all over the world. As a result, many private and public institutions have created programs aimed to increase enrollment, recruitment, and placement of women in the field and reduce the gender gap in the field. Several journal publications about this kind of research can be found in the scientific literature about studies mostly conducted in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia, but very few publications about this kind of research in Latin American countries is available in the literature despite the fact that in the last ten years, countries in Latin America also developed a variety of programs with the same goal with the support of international organizations like the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizatio...

Institutional actions and policies implemented by universities hold the potential to significantly impact the inclusion of women in leadership roles within STEM fields. This article describes the methodological design approved by the local ethics committee to conduct the research in Brazil, with the primary objective of understanding the degree to which discursive productions on gender affect women’s career experiences and leadership paths within STEM fields in higher education. Discursive productions include structures of power such as university policies, climate, culture, and projects. It is expected that the work will provide valuable insights and support for researchers sharing similar goals and who work to reduce gender inequalities in STEM.

The underrepresentation of women in STEM fields needs to be highlighted through data to assist decisionmakers and public policy creators in addressing the issue effectively. However, the lack of structured, organized data published openly in this domain is still a reality. To address this problem, a Latin American research network called ELLAS was created. The project’s goal is to develop a platform with Semantic Web-based technologies to structure and concentrate data from Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia, initially. This paper presents the processes defined for the collection and curation of both unstructured and structured data, sourced from scientific articles, social networks, and existing open data. We explore the architecture design in a way that facilitates understanding of the details of the processes and the actors involved for each data source. We present the preliminary results fr...
