Entre los problemas de más difícil solución que debe afrontar el clínico hematólogo, está el síndrome hemorragíparo, es decir, el sujeto que sangra espontáneamente. La dificultad estriba, no sólo en la diversidad de los mecanismos patogénicos capaces de producir hemorragias, sino también en el conocimiento incompleto de los factores que actúan en el mecanismo hemostático. Incluído en este gran grupo de diátesis hemorrágicas, se encuentra la Púrpura Fibrinolítica, entidad relativamente "nueva" que resulta de un incremento patológico de la actividad fibrinolítica de la sangre. Objetivos: Determinar los serogrupos de Shigella como agentes etiológicos de diarrea. Diseño: Estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo, analítico. Institución: Instituto de Medicina Tropical Daniel A. Carrión, Facultad de Medicina, UNMSM. Participantes: Aislamientos de Shigella sp en coprocultivos. Intervenciones: Se revisó los aislamientos de Shigella sp en coprocultivos, durante los años 2010 y 2011, en la base de datos WHONET 5,6 del hospital, tanto de pacientes adultos como pediátricos, ambulatorios, hospitalizados y atendidos en emergencia. También se hizo su distribución por serogrupos. Principales medidas de resultados: Frecuencia absoluta y frecuencia relativa, por años 2010 y 2011. Se estudiaron 28 pacientes portadores de lesiones neurovasculares complejas, tales como fístulas arteriovenosas, malformaciones arteriovenosas, aneurismas gigantes y tumores hipervasculares, los cuales fueron tratados mediante técnicas endovasculares. Se evaluaron los hallazgos clínico radiológicos, así como la estrategia, materiales embólicos, resultados y complicaciones de la embolización, demostrándose la factibilidad de: 1. Acceder por vía endovascular mediante microcatéteres al interior de lesiones neurovasculares complejas. 2. Realizar una evaluación angiográfica superselectiva de las mismas. 3. Colocar por vía endovascular y en el seno de estas lesiones, agentes terapéuticos trombogénicos con resultados curativos, coadyuvantes a la cirugía o paliativos con un mínimo de morbilidad.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación de hipersomnia y los accidentes de transito, según la información periodistica. Material y metodos: Se revisó sistemáticamente la información periodística relacionada a los accidentes de tránsito de las carreteras publicados en el diario “El Comercio” entre los años 1999-2000. Resultados: En ese periodo se escribieron 73 artículos que dieron cuenta de 112 accidentes. Cincuenta y tres 53 (48 %) podrían haber estado relacionados a hipersomnia durante el manejo. De acuerdo a esta fuente todos los accidentes causaron un total de 385 muertos y 839 heridos y “la tasa de mortalidad y morbilidad” en los accidentes de ómnibus, probablemente relacionados a hipersomnia, fue 9.7 y 20.6 respectivamente. INTRODUCCIÓN: En 2002, la US Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer publicó los criterios de calidad para estandarizar la técnica colonoscópica en la prevención del cáncer colorrectal, recomendando tomar un tiempo mínimo entre 6 y 10 minutos en el retiro del colonoscopio. Estudios posteriores demostraron un aumento significativo de la tasa de detección de cáncer colonrectal al tomar un tiempo de retiro mayor. Sin embargo, estos resultados fueron obtenidos a partir de poblaciones con alta incidencia de cáncer colorrectal. El Síndrome de Apneas-Hipopneas del Sueño (SAHS) es un trastorno serio de curso crónico caracterizado por episodios repetidos de colapso parcial o total de la vía aérea superior presentados durante el dormir. La interrupción y fraccionamiento del sueño produce excesiva somnolencia diurna (ESD). La información relacionada a su prevalencia indica que este desorden es común y puede fluctuar entre 2-4 % de los adultos en la edad media de la vida (1-3). Con el propósito de averiguar algunos conceptos vigentes sobre los p;rincipios de la teoría de la ciencia (epistemología) que constituyen las bases de la investigación científica, se han hecho encuestas a un grupo de 54 residentes de medicina, 27 médicos docentes y 21 docentes no-médicos. A todos ellos se les planteó dos tipos de encuesta una de respuestas semiabiertas sobre conocimiedntos, ciencia y tecnología; y otra de respuestas cerradas sobrfe los elementos que constituyen el método científico.
