Introducción: El machismo sexual es una forma de discriminación de género basada en creencias, estereotipos y actitudes que limitan la autonomía y devalúan a las personas con base en su género. Objetivo: Conocer la validez de la estructura interna y la confiabilidad del EMS-Sexismo-12, para medir machismo de tipo sexual en población peruana. Método: El diseño del estudio fue instrumental, la muestra fue aleatoria y estuvo conformada por 2470 estudiantes de una universidad pública de la ciudad de Arequipa, de los cuales el 50% fueron hombres, con edad (M =20.53; DE = 2.64) y el otro 50% mujeres, con edad (M= 19.95; DE = 2.27), estudiantes de las áreas de ingenierías y ciencias sociales. In this study we explored the attitude towards abortion in 400 students of four universities in the city of Arequipa (100 students per university). The instrument used was the Garcia Abortion Attitude Scale (1990). It was found that the average of 67,833 points indicates a favorable attitude toward abortion. Likewise, no differences were found regarding age, gender or university of origin; However, there were significant differences (p <0.05) according to career. Likewise, the variables investigated did not explain the attitude towards abortion (p> 0.1293; R2= 0.0434).

In this article, we present the psychometrical analysis of the Purpose in Life Test ofCrumbaugh y Maholick (1969) in a sample of high school students from Arequipa City (Peru). We selected a non-probabilistic sample of 872 students of 4th and 5th grade of five public high schoolsinto the city, who were tested by the Spanish version of Purpose in Life Test (Noblejas, 1994). We analyze the construct validity and reliability of the test through the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysisand the Cronbach’s Alfa Test. The results confirm the four factors structure reported by Noblejas (2000), but the items 4 and 19 were eliminated and the reliability indexes are higher than 0.7 for the total punctuationand each factor.

The study analyzes the perception of citizen security in 444 settlers from the district of Paucarpata of the City of Arequipa, chosen randomly. The average age of the participants (M = 28.6, SD = 13) years, of which 47.1% are male and 52.9% are female. The instrument used was the Citizen Security Questionnaire. The results indicate low perception of citizen security and its dimensions (Reliability, Empathy and Tangible Elements), and there are statistically significant differences in the response capacity between men (M = 15.7, DE = 4.2) and women (M = 16.9). ; DE = 4.2), these differences being small TE (d = 0.29). En este estudio exploramos la actitud hacia el aborto en 400 estudiantes de cuatro universidades de la ciudad de Arequipa (100 estudiantes por universidad). El instrumento utilizado fue la Escala de Actitud hacia el Aborto de García (1990). Se obtuvo un valor promedio de 67.833 puntos, que indica una actitud favorable hacia el aborto. Asimismo, no se encontraron diferencias con respecto a la edad, género ni universidad de origen; sin embargo, existen diferencias significativas (p<0.05) según carrera profesional. En este artículo se presenta el análisis psicométrico de la Prueba de Sentido de Vida de Crumbaughy Maholick (1969) en una muestra de escolares de la ciudad de Arequipa (Perú). Para ello, se seleccionó una muestra no probabilística de 872 estudiantes de 4to y 5to de secundaria de cinco instituciones educativas públicas de la ciudad, a quienes se les aplicó la versión española del Purpose in Life Test (Noblejas, 1994). Se analizaron la validez de constructo y la confiabilidad de la prueba a través del análisis factorial exploratorio y confirmatorio, y la prueba alfa de Cronbach. Los resultados confirmaron la estructura de cuatro factores de Noblejas (2000), pero se eliminan los ítems 4 y 19 y se tienen índices adecuados de confiabilidad que superan el 0.7 para la puntuación total y cada uno de los factores.

The ability to establish satisfactory interpersonal relationships and solve social and emotional problems implies having basic, advanced and instrumental social skills for adolescents, which is necessary to investigate and analyze to see if there are differences respect to age and sex. In order to provide empirical evidence in this regard, 230 students from the first to the fifth grade of secondary education, whose ages are 12 to 17 years, of both sexes, of a public educational institution in the city of Arequipa, were evaluated. En este estudio se analizó la tendencia suicida en una muestra representativa conformada por 580 estudiantes de dos universidades de la ciudad de Arequipa (una privada y una pública). El instrumento utilizado fue la Escala de Tendencias Suicidas de Poldinger (1980). Se obtuvo que el 76,7% de estudiantes no tenían riesgo suicida, sin embargo, el 23,3% presentaban tendencias y riesgo suicida. Asimismo, no se encontraron diferencias con respecto al sexo, número de integrantes de la familia, situación laboral, universidad, ni ingreso económico mensual; sin embargo, se encontró una correlación negativa significativa según la edad, en cuanto al sexo femenino, es decir, las estudiantes mujeres que tenían menor edad presentaban una mayor tendencia suicida; mientras que, en los estudiantes varones no existía una relación significativa.

In this study we explore the purpose of life in 101 family caregivers of people diagnosed with cancer, selected by non-probabilistic sampled from Cancer Diseases Regional Institute at Arequipa. The sample was conformed by 58,4% female people and 41,6% male. The instrument used was Purpose in Life Test (Crumbaugh & Maholick, 1968), adapted for Noblejas (2000) in Latino sample. We found a purpose in life which indicates a clear existential aim in the 55,4% of the caregivers, without differences by age, type and cancer gravity. Although, there are significant diff erences by sex (p< 0.05), so the males have high er scores than women in perception of sense, goals and duties. Moreover, we observed that 9% of the caregivers have existential emptiness and absence of purpose in life, being the most of them, females.

Esta investigación instrumental del Cuestionario de Relación (RQ) construido por Bartholomew y Horowitz (1991) y traducido por Yárnoz-Yaben y Comino (2011), adapta sus 5 ítems para la población masculina de Arequipa, a partir de la evaluación de una muestra de 413 varones entre 18 y 35 años. Se modificaron 2 ítems y el análisis factorial confirmatorio arrojó un modelo unidimensional identificado de 4 ítems con un ajuste satisfactorio. El RQ constituye un instrumento referencial para la identificación de estilos de apego sin varianza etaria que debe ser contrastada con la evaluación clínica o utilizado en casos en que su medida es de importancia secundaria.

Given the important relationship between family functioning and the developmental stage of adolescence, the main purpose of the present study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Family Functioning Styles Scale in adolescents from the city of Arequipa. A sample of 505 school students from different local institutions was used. The test was subjected to an Aiken V analysis, as well as to an Exploratory Factor Analysis. For the Confirmatory Factorial Analysis, three models were submitted, finding in the second one the following values: X2/gl= 1.77; CFI= 0.967; TLI= 0.962; SRMR= 0.052; and RMSEA[IC90%]= 0.052, confirming the three-factor factorial structure, which corresponds to the original theory. Likewise, reliability was estimated using Cronbach’s Alpha test and McDonald’s Omega test, resulting in both cases with adequate internal consistency indices.

This study analyzes some sociodemographic factors, which could predict the satisfaction with life in a sample of high school students from Arequipa, following the theoretical frame of the Positive Psychology. We tested a sample of 872 students of 4th and 5th grade, from five public local high schools, who were 46.9 % males and 53.1 % females. A sociodemographic chart and the Satisfaction with Life Scale were applied, in the version validated to Arequipa City (Arias, Huamani, & Caycho-Rodríguez, 2018). The data was processed by structural equations modeling. The results indicate that sex and school have some predictive power over life satisfaction.

La presente investigación de tipo comparativo, tuvo como objetivo principal establecer la asociación entre la satisfacción con la vida y los estilos de afrontamiento en adolescentes de colegios públicos en la ciudad de Arequipa de acuerdo a ciertas variables sociodemográficas. Para lo cual se trabajó con una muestra de 872 estudiantes del cuarto y quinto de secundaria (463 mujeres y 409 varones). Para su evaluación se aplicó la Escala de Satisfacción con la Vida y la Escala de Afrontamiento para Adolescentes. Los resultados evidenciaron correlaciones significativas entre satisfacción con la vida y los tres estilos de afrontamiento. In the present study, the manifestations of burnout syndrome in school and university professors living in the city of Arequipa were analyzed comparatively. A total of 413 intentionally selected professors were evaluated, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory was applied. It yielded adequate levels of reliability for our sample and three factors obtained through confirmatory factorial analysis, confirming the theory of Maslach and Jackson (1981). It was found that there are significant differences in terms of sex, marital status and teaching level of teachers, resulting in higher levels of exhaustion for female teachers at school level and moderate levels of depersonalization for university teachers, in whom negative correlations were obtained regarding the number of children and the burnout syndrome.
