The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence, identification and quantification of helminths present in guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) in the finishing phase from family-commercial breeding farms in the district of Caraz, Ancash, Peru. The stomach, small intestine and large intestine of 100 animals were collected and all parasites were identified and counted. The prevalence of gastrointestinal nematodes was 89%. Identified parasites were Paraspidodera uncinata, Trichuris spp, Capillaria spp and Trichostrongylus colubriformis showing prevalence of 83, 31, 18 and 2% respectively and without differences due to sex. The frequency of monoparasitism, biparasitism and triparasitism was 49, 35 and 5% respectively.

In this paper we provide an approach on sports analysis using Deep learning techniques. As part of a current project, the volleyball's basic reception technique has been divided into temporal phases. We performed an evaluation over our own labelled dataset consisting in 14814 frames from 69 videos depicting the desired reception technique. A model based on the YOLO algorithm was trained to locate the player region and trim the frames. Two time fusion methods over the frames wereproposed and evaluated with CNN models which were created based on the ResNet models and a transfer learning approach was used to train them. The results show that these models were able of classifying the frames with their corresponding phase with an accuracy of 92.21% in our best model. Also it can be seen that the RGB merging method shown in this paper helps to slightly improve the performance of the models. Fu...

The main objective of every Small and Medium Enterprise is to develop the ability to generate profits permanently over time; However, the Covid-19 pandemic significantly affected the global economy, generating an average reduction of 27% in global production and consumption, as well as a reduction in the use of labor, either due to reduced wages or reduction in working hours, which has had an impact on the increase in poverty. It is in this context that SMEs, with the aim of continuing to operate, implemented a strategy to reinvent themselves, which has been based on the greater use of the Internet and digital platforms with the aim of energizing their market or changing their line of business. , will thus develop activities in other areas or new services that did not exist before the moment of this reinvention. In this context, electronic commerce increased in a first stage, promoting t...

We report pregnancy in a 42 year-old patient who received donated cryopreserved oocytes. Eight of 10 frozen-thawed oocytes survived and ICSI was performed two hours after culture at 37ºC. After 3 days in culture 3 good quality embryos were transferred obtaining a pregnancy consisting in two gestational sacs, currently live newborns.

PF04859989 is a potential novel drug designed to attenuate symptoms of Schizophrenia. We analyzed the substitution effect on PF04859989 using three functional, which included the long-range correction. The substituents were both donor and attractor electrons, in two positions of the fused-ring molecule, in positions six and seven. Global reactivity indices were analyzed, finding that it does not present more information except electrophilicity, when analyzed with respect to the Hammet parameter, representing a quadratic correlation closer to the unit. The hydrophobic capacity (cLogP) was considered, finding that the groups such as CH3, CN, Cl and COCH3 increase hydrophobic capacity both in substitution in position six and seven. Additionally, we found that isomers conformations in position three of the amino group marked that equatorial isomers are more stable than the axial ones.

Lucuma (Pouteria lucuma) is an important exportation fruit in Peru. In this work, the odour-active volatile changes during fruit ripening were studied by using a sensomics approach (GC-O in combination with GC-MS analyses). The volatile compound extracts from unripe and ripe fruits were obtained by solvent-assisted flavour extraction (SAFE) with dichloromethane. By application of the aroma extract dilution analysis (AEDA) on the ripe fruit extract, 16 odour-active compounds were detected as responsible of sweet, green, and rancid odour-notes, characteristics of this fruit. Based on odour activity value (OAV) calculation, 2,3-butanedione, methional, (Z)-3-hexenal, (E)-2-hexenal, (Z)-?-ocimene, and 3-methyl butanoic acid were identified as key-aroma compounds in this fruit. These compounds were also quantitated in the unripe fruit SAFE extract finding that their amount increased with durin...

This paper presents the development and validation of a tridimensional 7-DOF human body model for the representation and study of closed kinetic chain exercises (CKCE) performed with the feet fixed in space, i.e. low posture exercises. The biomechanical model, a link-segment model, is based on an Euler-Lagrange formulation and employs a generalized joint coordinate system. A top-down mechanical analysis provides an estimation of the internal joint moments, along with the vertical ground reaction forces, using kinematical data collected by inertial sensors. The model is validated by correlating estimated ground reaction forces to kinetic experimental data from force plates. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated for four CKCE types (150 trials in total). In all cases, a median correlation r > 0.90 was found, hence proving that the proposed model is quite satisfactory for CKCE mo...

Background: Abandonment of treatment is a major cause of treatment failure and poor survival in children with cancer in low- and middle-income countries. The incidence of treatment abandonment in Peru has not been reported. The aim of this study was to examine the prevalence of and factors associated with treatment abandonment by pediatric patients with solid tumors in Peru. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the sociodemographic and clinical data of children referred between January 2012 and December 2014 to the two main tertiary centers for childhood cancer in Peru. The definition of treatment abandonment followed the International Society of Paediatric Oncology, Paediatric Oncology in Developing Countries, Abandonment of Treatment recommendation. Results: Data from 1135 children diagnosed with malignant solid tumors were analyzed, of which 209 (18.4%) abandoned treatment. Bivariate ...

Rice feeds more than 50% of the population worldwide, representing a great energy contribution in low-income families. The exaggerated use of synthetic chemical fertilizers to maintain high levels of yield causes alterations in the physical, chemical and biological quality of the soils. A sustainable alternative is the use of beneficial microorganisms that promote plant growth in crops. The objective of the study was to isolate and evaluate the Plant Growth Promoting (PGP) traits of rhizospheric rice bacteria in soils of the San Martin region, evaluate the effect of promoting growth in rice under pot experiments conditions and finally evaluate the effect of selected strains on the yield under different doses of nitrogen fertilizer under field conditions. Initially, 27 strains were selected for their diazotrophic characteristics and characterized by PGP traits. Through a multivariate anal...

Abstract: Our study was design to determine the association between depressive symptoms and mortality in adults over 60 years old Navy Peruvian Veterans. We performed a retrospective cohort study based on a previous cohort study. A total of 1681 patients over 60 years old were included between 2010–2015. Demographic information, self-reported information about falls, physical frailty assessment, tobacco consumption, hypertension, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and was collected. Depression was assessed by the short form of the Geriatric Depression Scale. We found that depressive symptoms were present in 24.9% of the participants and 40.5% of them died. Mortality risk in patients with depressive symptoms, physical frailty, and male sex was: RR of 23.1 (95% CI: 11.7–45.7), 3.84 (95% CI: 2.16–6.82), and 1.37 (95% CI: 1.07–1.75) respectively. We concl...
