Latin American and Caribbean Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is about 70% of manufacturing. Product supply is vital for mass consumption enterprises due to population consumption. Improving value chain logistics maximizes business opportunities. Hygiene products sell well. Pallet shortages impede delivery. This study proposes a model that integrates the Lean Six Sigma framework, the lean manufacturing principles, and the A3 report as communication and monitoring tools to ensure improvement success. Increased pallets supply sped product delivery. The integrated model uses the design for Six Sigma and standardized work tools to design the new process and the A3 report methodology to show the importance of the problem, the countermeasures proposed for immediate implementation, and the indicators for monitoring and controlling the improvement project. Performance increased pallet availability b...

This research aims to enhance productivity in the preparation and presentation of hamburgers at an artisanal category restaurant. The goal is to increase productivity and efficiency while reducing reprocessing rates during practice. This article introduces an innovative operational model that integrates Facility Layout Design (FLD), Standardized Work (STW), and autonomous maintenance under the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle framework to address the suboptimal utilization of workstations and the current layout, as well as the high error rates in the preparation process and the lack of preventive maintenance for the machines involved in the operation. The model is divided into four phases. The first phase consists of diagnosing the initial situation of the company. The second phase encompasses the implementation of Lean Service and FLD tools. Subsequently, a 12-week implementation phase to...

The main objective of every Small and Medium Enterprise is to develop the ability to generate profits permanently over time; However, the Covid-19 pandemic significantly affected the global economy, generating an average reduction of 27% in global production and consumption, as well as a reduction in the use of labor, either due to reduced wages or reduction in working hours, which has had an impact on the increase in poverty. It is in this context that SMEs, with the aim of continuing to operate, implemented a strategy to reinvent themselves, which has been based on the greater use of the Internet and digital platforms with the aim of energizing their market or changing their line of business., will thus develop activities in other areas or new services that did not exist before the moment of this reinvention. In this context, electronic commerce increased in a first stage, promoting th...

The objective of the work was to enhance the competitiveness of e-commerce and to mitigate the disadvantages associated with it, such as the untimely delivery of purchased products. This was to be achieved through the implementation of a proposed methodology in the processes related to the ‘Last Mile’, leveraging Big Data and Lean Logistics to boost the productivity of light logistics SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises). To identify the conditions impacting the distribution processes, a study was conducted on a population of 750 S MEs, utilizing a sample of 255 companies through stratified probabilistic sampling. The research spanned the years 2022 and 2023. The methodology advocated in this study combines Lean Logistics and Big Data to enhance the supply chain's efficiency and profitability for SMEs engaged in light logistics, amidst the post-pandemic landscape and the conflic...

Paper aims: This research article addresses an innovative solution to face one of the main problems in the footwear industry, namely the high order non-fulfillment rate. Originality: This research offers companies in the footwear industry the possibility of implementing Andon through a structured and planned process that allows expediting problem solving. The advantage of this system is the ability to signal the status of workstations through rapid visual identification. Moreover, in this way social distancing is also secured, in line with World Health Organization guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Research method: The article presents four phases through which the case study was addressed. Planning (determination of objectives), Restructuring of the Operations Area, Improvement of the Production Line and Continuous Improvement. Main findings: An Arena simulation system was u...

The textile industry is still an essential sector in the global economy, and Peru, it plays a significant role in job creation. However, it often faces challenges such as a lack of innovation, high competition that decides imported products, and low productivity. To effectively address this problem and improve competitiveness in the market, implementing the Lean Manufacturing tools just like that 5S, standardized work, and Kaizen es proposed. These tools focus on addressing the high cycle times in the production process and have proven to be effective in improving the efficiency and productivity of textile companies. Specifically, the research focused on the cutting process of the representative product, the dress, and the results showed a significant improvement in production, increasing from 26 to 33 garments per Man-Hour(M-H). In conclusion, implementing Lean Manufacturing tools can i...

This research focuses on improving the stock rotation of the raw materials warehouse of a sheep wool yarn production plant. The objective is to reduce excessive operating costs, the misuse of resources and improve the distribution of materials in the warehouse. This article develops an innovative solution, where the 7S, Poka-yoke, Slotting, and Kardex tools were used to improve the deficiencies in the inventory management systems and the storage conditions of the materials, as well as errors in the stock register. The case study is divided into four stages analysis of the problems and causes, improvement of inventory management activities and tools, evaluation of the impacts generated, and validation of the proposed model. This was carried out in the simulation software Arena, where an increase from 0.83 to 2.4 in raw material turnover, reduced errors in inventory control, and an improve...

This study focuses on developing a solution to one of the main problems in the food sector, product deterioration, often due to poor inventory management, low turnover, and lack of shelf-life control, among other causes. Therefore, this study is based on the design of a lean inventory management model proposed to reduce the number of deteriorated products in an egg product company in Peru, based on the analysis of the problem within the company and the study of previous research. As a result, the proposed method uses the tools of Machine Learning, Material Requirement Planning (MRP), 5S, and First Extended First Out (FEFO), reducing the main problem by 65.57% and the demand forecast error by 47.21%, thus reducing one of the leading root causes of the main problem. Thanks to this improvement, this research can contribute knowledge so that other companies with similar issues can implement ...
