En el presente trabajo se analizó el régimen alimentario de Cynoscion analis (cachema) que tiene por objetivo determinar y analizar los hábitos alimentarios de esta especie. Para tal efecto se analizaron un total de 302 ejemplares entre machos y hembras, provenientes de la caleta de Chorrillos durante setiembre de 1998 - agosto de 1999. Se determinó mediante el análisis cualitativo los ítems alimentarios y mediante el cuantitativo el Índice Alimentario (Wetzlar, 1981) y el de Importancia Relativa (Yañez,1976) Los resultados indican que los porcentajes numéricos de los grupos tróficos de la cachema estuvieron compuestos por peces (79.2%), detritos -escamas - otolitos (9.4%), zooplacton (7.5%), crusúóeos (3.1%), ictioplacton (0.7%) y restos n/i (0.2%) respectivamente. Se describe una nueva especie. Acantholtorhroides peruensis n. sp., párasito de Dasyafis brevis (Dasyatidae) pez elasmobranquio de la costa peruana. Caracterizada por el número de testículos ( 120 - 140) y su distribución en todo el proglótido y por el tamaño y relación entre los ganchos mediales y laterales del escolex (2.7:1).

We propose and analyze a mathematical model in ordinary differential equations to describe the dynamics of mosquitoes infested by bacteria. The introduction of some bacteria in mosquitoes population aims to diminish gradually the transmission of vector host-diseases. This is a good strategy of biological control.

Purpose: O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) promoter methylation predicts the outcome and response to alkylating chemotherapy in glioblastoma. The aim of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of MGMT methylation in Peruvian glioblastoma cases. Patients and methods: We evaluated retrospectively 50 cases of resected glioblastoma during the period 2008-2013 at Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplasicas in Peru. Samples consisted of paraffin embedded and frozen tumour tissue. The developed process was under monomer-starved conditions which monomer was continously added to the reactor containing an aqueous solution of emusifier and initiator. The effects of the rate of organic mixture addition and concentration of initiator on kinetic behavior, the particle size, pore diameter and porosity were studied.The results obtained were as follows: the conversions were near to 95% (≈ 20% content of solids), with particle size between 15 and 30 nm with low polydispersity, pores size between 4 and 6 nm and porosity between 10 and 30%. ABSTRACT One of the problems related to the increase in average temperatures in the wine-growing regions is the lower accumulation of organic acids in the berries. Wine freshness depends to a great extent on its acidity. Herein, the effectiveness of fumaric acid to inhibit malolactic fermentation or to stop it once initiated is evaluated in order to preserve the malic acid content. Aim: This retrospective study determined features associated with brain metastasis (BM) in women with breast cancer. Patients & methods: A total of 215 initially early breast cancer cases were included. We reviewed files and CT scan images of BM. Results: Median age was 47 years and most of our cases were stage III (58.6%), grade III (62.8%), ER negative (62.3%) and nonluminal (59.1%). Median survival after BM was 4 months. Nonluminal, extracranial disease, time to CNS shorter than 15 months, >three brain lesions and poor breast-graded prognostic assessment and recursive partitioning analysis scores were associated with shorter survival. Adding extracranial disease to breast-graded prognostic assessment score also predicted survival after BM.
