One of the efficient techniques that is currently used in pavement engineering to improve the stress–strain response conditions of the pavement structure includes the stabilization of its structural layer components. There are several laying techniques that include the usage of stabilizing agents such as emulsified and foamed asphalt. In these technologies, the temperature of the environment is observed to play a critical role. This condition is often considered to be the main factor that encourages the usage of foamed asphalt for stabilization. Further, the aforementioned technique specifies that, at temperatures of approximately 10 °C or lower, the asphalt particles are not effectively inserted in the foamed granular material mastic; they are instead merged with other asphalt particles. This causes an agglomeration of coalesced asphalt, prevents adequate foaming, and hinders the pav...

The objective of this research was the identification and characterization of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolated from Peruvian Amazonian fruits. Thirty-seven isolates were obtained from diverse Amazonian fruits. Molecular characterization of the isolates was performed by ARDRA, 16S-23S ITS RFLP and rep-PCR using GTG5 primers. Identification was carried out by sequencing the 16S rDNA gene. Phenotypic characterization included nutritional, physiological and antimicrobial resistance tests. Molecular characterization by Amplified Ribosomal DNA Restriction Analysis (ARDRA) and 16S-23S ITS RFLP resulted in four restriction profiles while GTG5 analysis showed 14 banding patterns. Based on the 16S rDNA gene sequence, the isolates were identified as Lactobacillus plantarum (75.7%), Weissella cibaria (13.5%), Lactobacillus brevis (8.1%), and Weissella confusa (2.7%). Phenotypic characterization s...

This study aims to determine the differences in attachment styles between women with and without spousal violence, beneficiaries of soup kitchens in Huacho, where the sample was of 60 women. To this end the relevant study design was descriptive-comparative, and inferential statistical analysis was worked with a significance level of p <0.05. Questionnaire forms of coexistence of Vicuña and Sanchez, and Attachment Styles Scale for romantic and non-romantic relationships of Casullo and Fernandez was applied. It is concluded that there are significant differences in fearful-avoidant style of romantic attachment among women with and without spousal violence, being non-abused women have higher scores.

Objetive: assess the ultrasound characteristics of neonatal thalamic damage (hemorrhage or infarction) and the associated prenatal factors. Material and methods: its a retrospective descriptive study of a series of neonates cases with thalamic damage. We review the data of the ultrasound report from 3 562 neonates, since august 1999 until august 2004. The transfontanellar ultrasound studies were performed in the Diagnostic Imaging and Neonatal Intensive Care Services. An ultrasound equipment with micro-convex transducer of 5 and 7.5 Mhz was used. Results: there were 8 (0,2%) cases of thalamic damage: 6 unilateral and 2 bilateral, 5 in preterm neonates and 3 in term neonates. The average weight of the preterm newborns was 1,490 gr, and in the term newborns was 3,210 gr. The average gestational time in newborns was 30,4 weeks and 39,3 weeks for the term ones. The prenatal fa...

A composite material, which properties are similar to the commercial material Krion®, was manufactured using polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) syrup, alumina trihydrate (ATH) and natural mineral fillers (CMN). For this purpose, composites have been manufactured in 2 stages: In first stage, free radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) was carried out to obtain syrup of polymethyl methacrylate. Polymerization parameters were determined in order to avoid autoacceleration effect and to get syrup which PMMA conversion avoids precipitation of ATH particles. In second stage, composite samples were manufactured using the obtained syrup, ATH and CMN particles and, then, they were tested in order to determine suitable parameters to get similar properties to Krion®. It has been proved that syrup must have a MMA to PMMA conversion between 20% and 25% to avoid autoacceleration effect and p...

Current technology seeks to develop nanoscale devices capable of storing and processing information. These devices would be difficult to make in the area of electronics, which is based on the manipulation of electric charge. However, thanks to advances in experimental and theoretical physics in the field of condensed matter, these devices are already a reality, belonging to the field of what we now call spintronics, which bases its functionality on the control of the electron’s spin, a property that can only be conceived at the quantum level. In this article we review this new perspective, describing giant- and tunneling- magnetoresistance, the spin transfer torque, and their applications such as MRAM memories, nano-oscillators and lateral spin valves.

Modulation of immune system has demonstrated tumor response in Gastric Cancer. Tumor infiltrating lymphocytes and microsatellite instability are predictive biomarkers for response to anti-PD-L1 drugs in different malignancies, however, studies confirming it in gastric cancer are lacking. We evaluate the role of infiltrating CD8 lymphocytes over clinicopathological features including clinical stage, H. pylori presence, microsatellite instability and survival in Gastric Cancer.

Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer and leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Recent evidence indicates that a substantial proportion of BC may be caused by viral infections. The presence of high-risk genotypes of human papillomavirus (HPV) has been demostrated in BC and associated with hispotathological features. The aims of this study were to evaluate the prevalence rate of high-risk HPV DNA in BC and clinical features associated to it.

The aim of this research was to evaluate the in situ rumen degradation kinetics of nutrients, as well as the apparent digestibility of nutrients, population of rumen protozoa, and in vitro gas production of based diets from post-harvest biomass of Amaranthus cruentus. Post-harvest biomass of A. cruentus with Pennisetum clandestinum forage was mixed in dry basis according to four treatments: T1: 100% A. cruentus, T2: 100% P. clandestinum, T3: 75% P. clandestinum + 25% A. cruentus, T4: 50% P. clandestinum + 50% A. cruentus, under a completely randomized design. The ruminal degradation parameters showed differences between treatments (p<0.05) obtaining the highest effective degradation of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP) and neutral detergent fibre (NDF) in T1 (423.4, 404.1 and 354.5 g/kg, respectively). The in vitro digestibility of DM, organic matter (OM) and CP was higher (p<0.0...
