The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a global public health crisis. Many reports indicate disappointing results in cancer patients compared to the general population. Therefore, experts in the management of oncohematological malignancies from the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases, national hospitals and a private clinic in Metropolitan Lima have developed recommendations obtained by consensus to continue with the management of patients with oncohematological neoplasms safely in the face of the pandemic.

Background: To provide recommendations based on the best available scientific evidence for the multidisciplinary management of febrile neutropenia. The development included the stages: approval of the creation of the Working Group (WG); CPG search; analysis and synthesis of the evidence that led to establishing the recommendation of the selected CPGs, design of the consensus document, internal review. All phases were carried out through panel meetings using virtual platforms during 03 months. The “GRADE” system was used to establish the strength and direction of the recommendations. The recommendations cover the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of febrile neutropenia in oncohematological patients. Twenty-eight recommendations were developed. Estudio para determinar la frecuencia y el valor pronóstico de la anemia en pacientes con cáncer atendidos en el Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas (INEN), entre enero y abril del 2010. La anemia es frecuente en pacientes con cáncer y su presencia determina un factor pronóstico independiente en la sobrevida global.
