Nowadays, some of the most popular tools for parallel programming are Message Passing Interface and Open Multi-Processing. It is of interest to compare these tools in solving the same kind of problems, because of the use of different approaches to inter-task communication. This work attempts to contribute to this goal by running trials in a centralized shared memory architecture in the case of problems with an entirely parallel solution. The selected case study was the parallel computation of Mandelbrot set. Trials were conducted for different iteration limits, processors amount, and C++ implementation variants. The results show better performance in the case of Open Multi-Processing.

One of the factors that determine the productivity inside a company is the state of the machinery with which is counted for the production. Our objective was to design a system that allows the engineers to supervise and to evaluate the state of the machinery, so that this in sot only repaired when it doesn't work, but rather one has the possibility to take a periodic registration of the operation of the same one. With it, it'll be possible to identify the flaws of the machinery in their diverse evolutionary phases. This will allow to carry out an appropriate correction of the problem diminishing the maintenance cost and, therefore, to stop the machinery for a smaller period of time. A significant number of projects specifically oriented to the promotion of rural women are currently being developed throughout the country. Parallel to the programs implemented by the public sector (CIPA, Ministry of Labor and Social Promotion), non-governmental organizations have designed localized coverage actions aimed at serving this sector of the population. Various events in recent years have brought together the promoters involved in these actions and through discussions and workshops a common problem has begun to be configured for this type of action. Our intention here is to evoke some of the converging problems detected and outline some guidelines that allow us to fine-tune the approaches of the projects and optimize the impact of the actions.

Canine rabies is a current health problem, very important for public health, livestock production, and the economy. The objective of this research was to evaluate the Spatio-temporal distribution of canine rabies in the period 2009-2018 in Havana, Cuba. A descriptive, retrospective, passive, cross-sectional, observational study was conducted. For the statistical analysis, the Epidat software, version 3.1, based on a Microsoft Excel matrix, was used. The epidemiological indicators were determined: prevalence of cases, monthly time series, and cumulative trend of outbreaks. The aim of this article is to analyse the main factors of excessive prociclicidad of financial systems, due to increased unnecessary fluctuations in the level of activity which puts at risk the financial stability with a negative impact on the real economy of the countries. New versions of the metaheuristic Multi-Particle Collision Algorithm (MPCA) are presented. In order to provide more effective candidate solutions for an optimization problem, the concept of opposition and reflection is introduced to improve the capacity to find a solution in the search space. Four different strategies to compute the reflected and opposite points are implemented. The performance of all implementations is evaluated over thirty objective functions with different complexities, using serial and parallel versions of the algorithms.

It analyzed the relation between reading comprehension and academic performance on students of fifth grade from a police educational institution of Callao. Not experimental type of studying and descriptive correlational design. To the sample of 140 male and female students were applied Reading Comprehension Test of Linguistic Complexity Progressive (LCP) of parallel forms, A Form Level 5 of Allende, Condemarín and Milicic (1991) adapted by Delgado (2005) to know reading comprehension levels and for academic performance it used the Official Record and Final Assessment Act.
