Taking the Peru a leadership in the production of metals in the world, the world’s largest producer of silver, the second of copper and zinc, and the sixth in gold, it is necessary to develop intensive metallurgical research to give greater technological value to our concentrates. In the framework of clean technologies direct reduction of sulphides is of interest in metallurgical processes for obtaining base metal. In this investigation shows results of the kinetics of direct reduction of the chalcopyrite of complex marañón with coal in the presence of dolomite as an opportunity to produce copper from a sulphide avoiding air pollution. We studied the effect of the variables involved in the reduction carbotermica: Temperature, reasons molars of reactants, being kinetic model that we describe the phenomenology of reduction process of the chalcopyrite.

Understand the violence in Colombia which comes from the armed conflict as a complex problem of education, in perspective of emerging archetypes for territorial management, as a commitment of humanity around three crucial issues: the influence of rural and urban education by violence; deschooling and forced displacement; since being a teacher is a matter of hero. In relation to this we must mention that through the Peace Agreements between the National Government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), public policies, government programs, demands and actions of society have generated powerful power constitutional bodies and expressions of governance and governance, for the importance of different realities lived in the territories of our country and that have supported over five decades, the scourge of violence by groups outside the law. A methodologically commitment addr...

Peru maintains a leading position in the world mining in connection to production and extraction of metals like copper, zinc, silver, gold among others. Geological exploration and prospecting already carried out, show us a promissory future for the above mentioned minerals and other interesting findings like nickel in millerite ore which was proved in some ore deposits of the Marañón geological complex. This occurrence allowed us to carry out metallurgical investigation, specifically hydrometallurgical processing for the Peruvian sulphide ore aimed to the development of profitable mining operations for both private sector and the Peruvian state. We showed the metallurgical test results carried out at the metallurgical engineering school related to obtaining metallic nickel plates and its by products like cement and sulphate crystals.

In this article, we present our experiences as researchers - activists, who have analyzed the US - Mexico border through our ethnographies. We will present reflections about our positionalities and subjectivities as activists, teachers, scholars, and residents of this border region. We conduct two different ways of activist research that we call 1) activist ethnography in the classroom, and 2) activist ethnography on the streets. We discuss the characteristics of eachone of these forms of activist research, the commonalities and differencesof both ways. We present our findings involving our own autobiographies and a theoretical analysis drawing from other activist - researchers who also use ethnography for research and activism.

In Peru, the vast majority of health facilities, both public and private, still have medical record formats on paper. Migration to the electronic health records information system (SIHCE) has been seen to be a great challenge in many respects. The San Pablo Hospital Complex (CHSP) is made up of eleven health establishments distributed in four departments of the country. In this article we report the process of implementing the SIHCE in the CHSP through the software circuit, for which the following steps were followed: 1) Decision to implement an EHR system, 2) Constitution of the committee, 3) Benchmarking and evaluation 4) Implementation plan, 5) Coordination meetings, 6) Testing, 7) Trainings, 8) Go Live, and 9) Implementation by replication. Likewise, we reflect on the lessons learned during this process, which revolve around two angles: management versus change and process modificati...

The global consumption of coffee has experienced a notable increase in the last decade. The high global consumption of coffee is mainly attributed to its psycho-stimulant effects, influenced by genetic factors, and the perceived health benefits, although adverse effects are also recognized in some individuals. The complex chemistry of coffee, influenced by the bean, roasting, and preparation, impacts its flavor and properties. This article explores the chemistry of coffee, from the Arabica and Robusta species and their origin, to the processing methods (wet/dry) that modify the green bean. Transformations during roasting (Maillard reaction) are analyzed, as well as how roasting and extraction affect compounds like diterpenes and caffeine, and the sensory characteristics of coffee. Finally, the use of chemical techniques to determine the origin and purity of coffee is highlighted, undersc...

This article aspires to be a contribution to an anthropological approach on housing and habitat, understanding both notions as complex socio-cultural phenomena. In this sense, our aim is to reflect —from an ethnographic point of view— on the processes whereby living spaces are appropriated, as well as to reflect on certain features that neighbors’ sociability adopts in a social-interest housing complex built as a large urban unit in the South-East area of Buenos Aires, specifically in the barrio of Villa Soldati. In order to do so, we made a distinction between planned spaces and developed spaces, and also differentiated three uses of the common and shared spaces in this particular housing complex: spaces with idle use, incompatible use and uncivil use. The qualitative methodology used in this study was based on a still ongoing field work, which included field observation and non-d...

This year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Americans Robert Lefkowitz and Brian Kobilka for their studies of G protein coupled receptors. These receptors are involved in cell-cell and long-distance signaling in our organisms. Moreover, they are so important for most physiological processes in human beings that practically half of our medications act through them. Studying these receptors at a molecular level is an extremely complex task but today, through the work of these two researchers, we have gained a better understanding of the mechanisms by which these receptors operate

The Peruvian Civil Code commemorates its thirty years of existence. Some of its rules’content is clear, while some other rules are –in the words of the author– dark andquestionable. One of these controversial rules in its meaning and application is that contained in article 226 of the Code, relatedwith a person’s legal capacity. In this article, the author makes a historical and comparative analysis of such article, to then approach the problems contained in it, contrasting their role in the current social reality and verifying if such figure is still useful in our legal system.

Introduction: Bile duct stones constitutes 20% of symptomatic gallbladder disease and difficult stones are one third of this. Endoscopic papillary large balloon dilation (EPLBD) with or without prior endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST) produces excellent outcomes for the treatment of complex or difficult common bile duct (CBD) stones, alone or combined with previous therapeutic options as mechanical lithotripsy (ML) and temporary or definitive stenting. Objectives: Show success rate, complications and adverse events. Show that higher success rates are obtained combining ERCP techniques with no increase in complications. Materials and methods: We evaluated the safety and therapeutic outcomes of EPLBD with vs. without EST and other combinations for the removal of difficult bile duct stones. We described our procedures for a decade and compare them with the previous decade without balloo...

Several experts were predicting the end of the cycle of prosperity based on the exploitation of raw materials, especially minerals. Peru has beenaffected by this situation highlighting once again that the current primary export model does not provide a sustainable development in the long term. In this context of a slowdown in our economy, we believe that the industrialization of our resources is the most advantageous alternative to be undertaken by the country. In this respect, the present work is a contribution of ideas to promote a change of the industrial model should have the Peru, for which, in the analysis has taken into account various documents and related entities recognized these issues.

The migratory phenomenon is one of the social problems with the most impact in the world today, as it alters the dynamics of societies of origin of immigrants but also those of arrival. Our analysis springs from the idea that migration must be studies from an ample perspective and not necessarily from a single discipline. In that sense, the present article aims to examine the theoretical perspective that social sciences have of the migratory phenomenon. This analysis helps to understand the characteristics of migration, as well as its effects. This work is composed of four parts. In the first one, we approach the study of migration from the disciplines within the social sciences; in the second, we analyze the integrated perspective for the study of migrations; in the third, we analyze the dimensions and repercussions of migration in social life; and finally, in the las part, we provide s...
