This reflective article deals with complexity and the Rights of Nature. It seeks to answer the question: How does complexity contribute to the sustenance of the Rights of Nature? For this purpose, a specialized bibliographic search was carried out. From the research it is concluded that complex thinking and the Sciences of Complexity, by being more open to epistemological and ontological diversity, by taking into account the close interrelation, interdependence and co-dependence between human beings and Nature, by highlighting from organicism the living character of the planet in cosmic relation, offer solid arguments that support the Rights of Nature. Although the Rights of Nature imply legal protection, with the State as guarantor of rights, the issue goes beyond this because what is at stake is the recognition of the intrinsic value of life in all its manifestations, beyond even senti...

The objective of this reflection article is to account for the complexity of the approach to forest bioethics among the actors involved in the Peruvian Amazon in a context dominated by an anthropocentric perspective and the neoliberal capitalist system. For this purpose, bibliographic research was carried out and complemented by the discussions generated around the forestry philosophy cycle developed by Forest Fridays, the Peruvian virtual training space for forestry engineers, between August and September 2022. From the results of the reflection, it is concluded that the approach to forest bioethics in the Peruvian forestry sector is incipient, made difficult by a strongly sectoral, disciplinary framework marked by the development paradigm based on neoliberal capitalism. Complexity helps to have a much broader vision and inscribes it in the current challenges of searching for alternativ...

This article deals with the environmental/ecological Humanities in Peru and its relationship with complexity. For this purpose, a specialized bibliographic search was carried out. The review concludes that although environmental/ ecological humanities are not explicitly developed in Peru to date, there are contributions from the perspective of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinarystudies, especially from literature, the arts, environmental history and forestry philosophy. Some of the hybrid disciplines that are considered components of the environmental/ecological humanities are also developed, although they are not manifestly recognized as contributions towards this field of transdisciplinary studies. The complexity sciences with their orientation of indeterminacy, non-linearity, the study of undecidable and non-trivial problems enriches the understanding of life in general and theref...

Taking the Peru a leadership in the production of metals in the world, the world’s largest producer of silver, the second of copper and zinc, and the sixth in gold, it is necessary to develop intensive metallurgical research to give greater technological value to our concentrates. In the framework of clean technologies direct reduction of sulphides is of interest in metallurgical processes for obtaining base metal. In this investigation shows results of the kinetics of direct reduction of the chalcopyrite of complex marañón with coal in the presence of dolomite as an opportunity to produce copper from a sulphide avoiding air pollution. We studied the effect of the variables involved in the reduction carbotermica: Temperature, reasons molars of reactants, being kinetic model that we describe the phenomenology of reduction process of the chalcopyrite.

This article aims to take out guidelines for addressing future pandemics from the recognition of the close relationship between nature and society through the application of the complex adaptive systems approach. From the review, it is concluded that the adoption of the complex adaptive systems approach allows assuming the complexity paradigm when addressing pandemics, reinforcing the reductionist systems approaches that, while it is true that they respond in cause and effect linear situations, they have limitations when facing phenomena with the characteristics of complexity: self-organization (emergency), non-linearity (chaos), adaptation-evolution (cybernetics) and interconnectivity (network structure), among others. From the approach of the complex adaptive systems and the socio-ecological systems, it is possible to understand the close interrelationships and interdependencies betwee...

The effect of two commercial enzymes (Allzyme Vegpro® and RovabioTM Excel) onthe in situ digestibility and kinetics of the dry matter of sugarcane bud (Saccharumofficinarum) was evaluated. The substrate was dried, grounded, passed through a 3 mmsieve, and incubated with the enzymes for 30 minutes. The concentration of the enzymeswas 1% of the substrate. In addition, a substrate without treatment was considered ascontrol treatment. A randomized experimental design, with four periods, three treatmentsand two replicates per period was used. The samples (1.8 g) in dracon bags were placedin the first stomach compartment of one fistulated alpaca and six digestion times (6, 12,24, 48, 72 and 96 h) were applied. The parameters evaluated in digestion kinetics wereinitial digestibility, degradable fraction, degradation rate, potential digestion and averagetime. The dry matter (ISDMD) in situ dige...

Previous investigations suggested the orange essential oil as antimicrobial and natural antioxidant; however, the high volatility and sensibility due to extern factors are imitating its applications. Thus, the encapsulation is an ideal alternative of protection for essentials oils and the molecular inclusion has greater advantages compared to others, but the drying method and temperature can influence its characteristics and stability. Therefore, the orange essential oil was microencapsulated into beta-cyclodextrin (β-CD), and was evaluated the effect of drying by stove, lyophilization and atomization (160, 180 and 200 °C) on humidity, water activity, encapsulation efficiency, yield, and stability (82% relative humidity for 36 days). The microparticles were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The best drying method was lyop...

Design of Vanadium Antidiabetic Agents: Development and Recent AdvancesThe discovery of the enhanced hypoglycemic activity of bis(maltolate)oxovanadiu m (IV) (BMOV) compared to simplevanadium salts stimulated the design, synthesis and both in vitro and in vivo evaluation of a large variety of oxovanadium (IV)complexes with different organic ligands for their potential use as antidiabetic drugs that may be able to substitute, either partially or totally, the daily insulin injections used in the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus or the orally available hypoglycemic drugs usually used in combined therapy for type 2 diabetes.Recently, a close BMOV analogue, an ethyl substitute, has already successfully completed the phase 1 clinical trial in humans. The design of new types of complexes and the development of alternative delivery methods represent an active research field today.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a parenteral treatment with vitamins and minerals on the percentage of pregnancy in heifers after a fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) scheme as well as to determine possible relationships between the response to the treatment and the Reproductive Tract Score (RTS). A total of 360 heifers from three farms were used (A, B and C). On day 0, the animals were divided into two groups according to their RTS. A group was supplemented via i.m. with a commercial vitamin-mineral complex (V+M Group) and the other one remained as a control group. Simultaneously, an intravaginal device with 0.5 g of progesterone was placed and 2 mg of estradiol benzoate was injected. On day 7, the device was removed and 500 µg of D(+) cloprostenol and 1 mg of estradiol cypionate were injected. The FTAI was performed between 48 and 56 h after the device was r...

Cytogenetic biomonitoring techniques allow early detection of exposure to genotoxic agents and the sister chromatid exchange assay (SCE) that was applied aimed to evaluate these effects in peripheral blood lymphocytes of health personnel exposed to antineoplastic drugs in a Hospital Complex of Lima. The exposed group was subdivided according to the proximity to the oncological preparations in: direct, intermediate and low contact, in addition there was a control group. The information was analyzed in the statistical program IBM SPSS 25.0. Statistically significant differences were found in the frequencies of exchanges in the groups of health personnel with direct and intermediate exposure compared to the control group (P<0.05), the comparative analysis between personnel with leave and the control group did not show significant differences. These findings allow evidence of a higher ris...

The Archaeological Complex of Chan Chan is made up of various pre-Hispanic structures whose monumental architecture has clay as its raw material; one of them is the Nik An (Tschudi) palace. The study was carried out between 2014 and 2017; it was based on botanical collection and direct field observations of both flora and deterioration. Twelve species distributed in 11 families and 12 genera were recorded, of them 2 cryptogams (2 lichen species) and 10 phanerogams (5 herbs, 1 suffrutice, 1 subshrub, 2 shrubs and 1 tree). The taxa are found inside the architectural complex at the base, on the walls, roads and passageways, causing two types of effects on the substrate: biogeophysical (mechanical) and biogeochemical; as well as potential biodeterioration agents.

Introduction: The infiltration of botulinum toxin type A causes chemical denervation of the abdominal wall muscles surrounding the hernia defects of complex eventrations, favoring their repair. Report: 11 cases aren presented with complex eventrations, whose lateral muscle complexes were infiltrated, with botulinum toxin type A (Botox®), as a prehabilitative measure. In the post-infiltration tomographic images, we observed a decrease in the transverse diameter of the right lateral complex between 0.2 to 2 cm and between 0.6 to 1.5 cm on the left side, which represented a reduction of 38% and 40% respectively. In more than 90% of cases, complete fascial closure of the defect was achieved. Conclusion: The use of botulinum toxin type A, in complex incisional hernias, due to its relaxing action on the infiltrated muscles, causes thinning, therefore muscle elongation, favoring aponeurotic cl...
