Currently, we are facing an increasing demand for minerals, including gold. The benefits of gold mining in the country are reflected in its contribution to exports and tax revenues. Geometallurgy seeks to significantly reduce the impact of spatial uncertainty in mine planning because it documents the variability in a gold deposit, this minimizes the risk of the project in future exploitation. Therefore, this study raises the need for the Peruvian mining activity to implement geometallurgy in its operations and processes; to reduce the negative effects on the environment and achieve the maximum use of natural resources. The importance of geometallurgy lies in the qualification of gold deposits, based on their physical-mechanical and textural properties, process mineralogy, and chemical-metallurgical analysis. These studies provide information for conducting metallurgical leaching tests an...

The geometallurgical model is a tool that allows evaluating the necessity of mineral deposits from the geological, processing and production point of view. With this, it is possible to estimate the most realistic net present value and significantly reduce the technical-operational risk that occurs in the feasibility stages of a mining project. In the present investigation, an exhaustive search has been carried out on studies focused on geometallurgical modeling in porphyry copper deposits in which it has been estimated and simulated as geometallurgical total copper grade, oxide copper, penalizing elements, metallurgical recovery, bond work index and of abrasion. Through this research, it is evident that by incorporating geometallurgical attributes in the estimation of mineral resources, it is possible to better quantify the spatial variability of the deposit, anticipate those minerals th...

The Toromocho Deposit is a Porphyry Skarn deposit with an extension of 5 km by 6 km, geologically it is made up of volcanic rocks from Mitú and limestone from Pucara and tertiary intrusives. The mineralization is mainly due to veins that cross the entire Morococha district from East to West, which are filled with Pb, Zn and Ag Zinc mantles minerals located in the limestones and in a disseminated form, also located in the limestones and in the Volcanic-limestone-intrusive contacts and also scattered pyritic bodies with copper mineralization. Regarding its mineralization, it is very complex finding veins, mantles, stock work, scattered bodies, finding minerals that greatly affect metallurgical treatment such as arsenic. The results of the XRD studies allow us to characterize the existing minerals in the deposit, from the contaminating minerals to be able to perform a good blending, contro...

In situ metalic mining are sistems of metal elements recovery through leaching at their primary emplacements in hard rock ore deposits by appropriate chemical solutions. The methods involve recuperation of metals from ore bodies by circulating solutions through the ore in its undisturbed geologic state and recovering these solutions for processing. In order to attain acceptable orebody permeability for flowing of leach solutions, fragmentation is a basic variable. It should be obtained by drilling and blasting with explosives or by hydrofracturing. Examples are some Southern USA in situ mining operations where rock fragmentation with explosives was succesfully tried in coyote holes or open pit blasting grids. Other significant in situ mining variables are the mineral geologic genesis which works in opposite direction to the insitu leach treatment, the natural rock porosity, the ore left ...

Carbonaceous rocks in Peru have been little studied because of the mineralogical variability, their poorly understood sedimentation processes and the complexity of their rock attributes (porosity, permeability). The objective of the present research is to obtain an integrated log type that serves as a standard for the elaboration of geological sections and maps, in order to establish a predictive model, in an areal distribution of potential reservoirs within calcareous units. Tarma and Copacabana groups mainly composed of carbonaceous facies, with a lower proportion of silicoclastics and evaporites, all have thicknesses ranging from 800 to 1000 meters. Within the depositional model, 4 sequences have been identified in the third order, from Continental Environments to Distal marine. It is seen that within each sequence of third order have been related up to three sedimentary courts; (Cont...

Integration of the zircon U-Pb ages available on the Toquepala Group, La Caldera batholith (s.l.), and porphyry Cu systems, in combination with geochemical data, unravels the evolution of the magmatic arc of southernmost Peru during the Late Cretaceous and Early Paleogene. Arc magmatic production increased starting ~90 Ma, and culminated between ~74 and ~62 Ma through a flare-up characterized by large plutonic and volcanic (especially ignimbritic) volumes. This long process resulted in the thickening of the arc crust, to a state of overthickening that triggered its extensional collapse, starting diachronously 61–59 Ma, during which giant porphyry Cu systems were emplaced between ~60 and ~53 Ma. Our empirical reconstruction of this protracted evolution provides simple guides for exploration of giant porphyry Cu deposits in southern Peru, as well as a magmatotectonic theoretical framewor...

Geometallurgy is defined as the study of the genesis of minerals with respect to the performance of their metallurgical processing. The construction of geometallurgical models is of the utmost importance for the technical-economic evaluation of the deposit. The robustness of the model depends on the number of resources invested to generate potential information that will serve in decision making. The relevance of the geometallurgical model has a high value in mining management, which serves as an instrument for the planning, exploitation and design of metallurgical processes according to the type of deposit. Using the information to maximize economic performance in concentration processes has enormous potential and challenge for plant operators. This article will discuss the use of data analysis and its applications in several successful cases for porphyry-type deposits, taking...

The mining industry of porphyry copper deposits process complex and low-grade minerals (Romero Toledo et al., 2017). One of the problems related to this practice, is the type of mineral, harming the mining - metallurgical treatment that affects the consumption of excessive energy and the critical recovery of economic minerals (Mudd, 2010). The objective of the research was to analyze the mineralogical characterization; then to contrast the behavior of the minerals in the process of flotation of minerals in the porphyry deposits of copper and with it to implement improvements (Díaz Villena, 2017). The techniques used were X-ray diffraction, optical-electronic microscopy (Manzaneda Cabala, 2010) and chemical analysis. They provided reliability and support to determine qualitatively and quantitatively the mineral phases that cause problems in the flotation of copper minerals  (Donoso ...

Peru maintains a leading position in the world mining in connection to production and extraction of metals like copper, zinc, silver, gold among others. Geological exploration and prospecting already carried out, show us a promissory future for the above mentioned minerals and other interesting findings like nickel in millerite ore which was proved in some ore deposits of the Marañón geological complex. This occurrence allowed us to carry out metallurgical investigation, specifically hydrometallurgical processing for the Peruvian sulphide ore aimed to the development of profitable mining operations for both private sector and the Peruvian state. We showed the metallurgical test results carried out at the metallurgical engineering school related to obtaining metallic nickel plates and its by products like cement and sulphate crystals.

This work describes the isolation and selection of bacterial strains of the genus Pseudomonas in Cetrimide, Acetamide and King B Agar media, from effluents of the leaching process and from the tailings deposit of the gold ore processing plant, Caraveli - Arequipa. Subsequently, the adaptation was made in Modified Mineral Medium (M9M), to different concentrations of sodium cyanide, to evaluate the tolerance and degradation of the CN- radical. The results of sowing in different nutrient media allowed us to observe changes in coloration with a change from clear to intense red in Acetamide Medium and from clear to fluorescent green in King B Agar Medium, revealing the presence of P. pseudoalcaligenes bacteria. Similarly, during the adaptation process of a strain whose initial cell population was 2.0E+06 CFU/mL, in media supplemented with 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 ppm of Free Cyanide, at the ...

A Schlumberger resistivity record was made over an area of 50 hectares. A new field of processes based on the analytical signal response of the resistivity data was tested in the presence of disturbed phosphate deposits. Geology models were successively obtained from a peak model of the 2D resistivity data. The optimization of the imaging process was based on the optimization of surface tools. The descending analytical extension of the modeled surface over a depth of 30 meters was used for optimization of the modeling. The analytical processes found were consistently useful. The optimization of the phosphate reserve was improved and better constructed.

The research in the laboratory was made operating variables (reactant concentration, pH and oxidation potential) of pyrite leaching gold from river Tablachaca (Ancash Peru) with thiourea (TU) followed by electro-deposition of gold. The experimental study was conducted in three stages: Oxidation of thiourea leaching of gold and gold electroplating. As an alternative to chemical agents, TU oxidation via electrolysis was conducted to obtain formamidine disulphide (FDS), which serves as an oxidizer in the dissolution of gold. The optimum degree of conversion of formamidine disulfide thiourea in 2.5 h was obtained by applying a FEM of 4.5 V with a pH of 1.5. The anodic and cathodic compartments of the electrochemical reactor were separated by an anion membrane with the purpose of eliminating undesired reactions at the cathode. Prior to the leaching step, the mineral was washed with sul...
