This work is focused on the modeling and development of a CBIR (Content-based image retrieval) system applied to the recovery of digital medical images of a human body, denominated M-CBIR. This model is composed on two methodologies: features extraction techniques and metric data structures. When this set of techniques is applied to the search of different human body regions, it can retrieve the most relevant similar images to a query image. A real database of medical images composed of 772 medical studies was used to compare the robustness of the extraction techniques and evaluate the performance of the system, through four different extractors. The objective of this work will result in a digital atlas of human body for medical radiological center. Finally, analysis and conclusions are also discussed.

The purpose of this study is to implement the OC2 and OC3 algorithms to estimate the concentration of surface chlorophyll-a (CCA) from image data from the OLI sensor aboard the Landsat-8 satellite. The LaSRC (Landsat 8 Surface Reflectance Code) atmospheric correction model was validated with on-site measurements of the reflectance of the water surface recorded with a spectroradiometer on the surface of the fan shell crop area of the Sechura Bay. Validation results in a linear correlation coefficient of R = 95.1 % and a mean square error RMSE = 0.0095. A comparison of the CCA derived from the OC2 and OC3 algorithms was also made, resulting in an RMSE = 0.145 mg/m3 and a correlation coecient of R = 99 %. Finally, a contrast was made of the histograms of the spatial distribution of the CCA estimated from the OC2 and OC3 algorithms over a region of the study area. The results indicate a grea...

A Schlumberger resistivity record was made over an area of 50 hectares. A new field of processes based on the analytical signal response of the resistivity data was tested in the presence of disturbed phosphate deposits. Geology models were successively obtained from a peak model of the 2D resistivity data. The optimization of the imaging process was based on the optimization of surface tools. The descending analytical extension of the modeled surface over a depth of 30 meters was used for optimization of the modeling. The analytical processes found were consistently useful. The optimization of the phosphate reserve was improved and better constructed.

The validation of the Sea Surface Temperature (SST) estimated from images of the MODIS and VIIRS sensors has been carried out, for the study area delimited between the longitudes of 83o - 80oW and latitudes of 3o - 7oS respectively, in the period from 2001 to 2016 with data from the SST in-situ. Likewise, the monthly average data of the Concentration of Chlorophyll-a (CCA) and TSM VIIRS for the Sechura Bay, in the period from 2012 to 2018, have been related. The in-situ data of TSM are registered by IMARPE, (2000 - 2015). The daily and monthly CCA and TSM images for the study area are obtained from the Ocean Color portal. SeaDAS version 7.5.3 image processing software has been used on Linux Ubuntu 16.04 with netcdf format. The monthly averages of SST-MODIS and the in-situ SST at the Paita station present a correlation coefficient R = 0.96, so we can propose its use in models of oceanogra...

The present study proposes a method of automatic detection of tuberculosis (TB) bacilli from digital images of Ziehl Neelsen sputum smear baciloscopy. The method is based on an algorithm that aims to automate the interpretation of optical microscopic images of sputum smears. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a specialist can not analyze and process more than 20 samples per day (in order to not affect the analysis sensitivity and commit errors in diagnosis). Therefore, an automated tool as the proposed here, is an important contribution to the current efforts to fight tuberculosis. The algorithm is based on geometric eccentricity of ellipses and improvement of RGB component tones. Correspondence functions adjusted to sample preparation conditions were applied in order to improve the RGB primary component tones of the image. This allows to obtain an adequate segmentation of...

Nowadays spectrometers are useful in many applications such as bio-medical technology among other industrial fields. State of the art low-cost spectrometers are usually equipped with linear photoelectric array detectors (line detectors). This thesis covers part of the software development for a low-cost multichannel spectrometer using a matrix detector instead of a linear array detector. The image acquisition including an automatic integration time optimizer was implemented. Furthermore, algorithms for data extraction and calibration were developed. Finally, the multi-channel-system with the new software was compared with a high-resolution spectrometer and the results were discussed.

This article seeks to analyze the legal bases of video surveillance, the state of the current unsystematic regulation in the Peruvian legal system and the first juridical-factual consequences that are emerging from its progressive application. In this way, the article begins with the study of the protection of the image of the person, with special attention to the phenomenon of video surveillance, from the point of view of Civil, Constitutional, Administrative and —even— Criminal law. Later, it studies the way in which the Legislator and —in other cases— the Executive have established the specific and particular rules on video surveillance in Peru at the national level. Finally, it continues with the description and analysis of some of the factual assumptions that have been challenging Peruvian authorities; among which we have the use of video surveillance as a method of mon...

An educational Virtual Lab, a software oriented to teaching and learning, applied to the study of the Thresholded Difference of grey-leveled images has been developed. This intuitively-easy-to-use Virtual Lab allows studying the threshold-controlled difference of two input images. Interesting results emerge when detecting the thresholded difference of pairs of images, like the effect appearing in the case of image subtraction of two completely different images, an effect setting up the basis for Controlled Image Fusion. Image difference algorithms belong to Digital Image Processing, a computer tool with every time more applications in science and in engineering.

Remote sensing is essential in precision agriculture as this approach provides high-resolution information on the soil's physical and chemical parameters for detailed decision making. Globally, technologies such as remote sensing and machine learning are increasingly being used to infer these parameters. This study evaluates soil fertility changes and compares them with previous fertilization inputs using high-resolution multispectral imagery and in situ measurements. A UAV-captured image was used to predict the spatial distribution of soil parameters, generating fourteen spectral indices and a digital surface model (DSM) from 103 soil plots across 49.83 hectares. Machine learning algorithms, including classification and regression trees (CART) and random forest (RF), modeled the soil parameters (N-ppm, P-ppm, K-ppm, OM%, and EC-mS/m). The RF model outperformed others, with R² values of...
