From a mathematical model given by the integral Im,n=∫Pm(x)G(x)Jn(x)dx where Pm(x) a polynomial function, G(x) a Gaussian function, and Jn(x) is the integer-order Bessel function, we have performed simulations to evaluate the possible scenario of outbreak of Zika virus (ZIKV) in a big city. Our study is motivated from the outbreaks in Brazil (2007). We have assumed a list of probabilities which are connected to the number of cases in-risk which is changing in time. Also, the intervention is defined as the fraction ΔIm,n and it is selected by the Monte Carlo step. Simulations takes into account the rapid intervention that means the transfer of those identified (e.g. pregnant women) to save and clean areas away from the mosquitoes Aedes.

The current study relates to designing a swarming computational paradigm to solve the influenza disease system (IDS). The nonlinear system’s mathematical form depends upon four classes: susceptible ndividuals, infected people, recovered individuals and cross-immune people. The solutions of the IDS are provided by using the artificial neural networks (ANNs) together with the swarming computational paradigm-based particle swarm optimization (PSO) and interior-point scheme (IPA) that are the global and local search approaches. The ANNs-PSO-IPA has never been applied to solve the IDS. Instead a merit function in the sense of mean square error is constructed using the differential form of each class of the IDS and then optimized by the PSOIPA. The correctness and accuracy of the scheme are observed to perform the comparative analysis of the obtained IDS results with the Adams solutions (ref...

Computed tomography (CT) is a breakthrough technology used in medicine for diagnostic diseases. The same technique is used in other areas, such as aerospace chemistry, Radio astronomy, etc. The main objective of the CT is to reconstruct the internal part of an object without having to open it as a non-destructive test. To achieve this purpose, the CT uses the attention that X-rays undergo through this object with the information, the inner part of the object is reconstructed, that is to say the CT is an inverse problem. In this article uses the Fourier transform for the reconstruction of the internal part, for it is directly part of a continuous model, representing the density at the point (x, y) of a section, with a function p = p(x, y); and even though p is not required to be continuous, the Fourier method is more efficient and a better, more regular result is obtained p.

Inertial kinetics and kinematics have substantial influences on human biomechanical function. A new algorithm for Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)-based motion tracking is presented in this work. The primary aims of this paper are to combine recent developments in improved biosensor technology with mainstream motion-tracking hardware to measure the overall performance of human movement based on joint axis-angle representations of limb rotation. This work describes an alternative approach to representing three-dimensional rotations using a normalized vector around which an identified joint angle defines the overall rotation, rather than a traditional Euler angle approach. Furthermore, IMUs allow for the direct measurement of joint angular velocities, offering the opportunity to increase the accuracy of instantaneous axis of rotation estimations. Although the axis-angle representation requi...

This work was carried out by the importance of providing insights into the nano-based drug delivery of anticancers. To this aim, a representative model of aluminum nitride (AN) nanocage scaffold and two of its boron and gallium doped forms (BAN and GAN) were investigated towards the adsorption of thiotepa (Tep) anticancer. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to evaluate the stabilized structures and their corresponding electronic features. The results indicated the contribution of N-head and S-head of Tep to interactions with each scaffold resulting six complexes; NTep@AN and STep@AN, NTep@BAN and STep@BAN, NTep@GAN and STep@GAN. In each complex model, the characteristic features were obtained based on the interactions details and frontier molecular orbitals related features. In this regard, the investigated scaffolds were found suitable for adsorbing the Tep subs...

Infectious bursal disease is a pathology of viral origin that affects poultry, causing a high mortality rate. Existing vaccines face the problem of the appearance of new strains, so searches are made for molecules with potential binding affinity to viral proteins. Withania somnifera extract is involved in the replication of infectious bursitis virus, but the possible mechanism of action is not well understood. The aim of this study was to identify, through in silico methods, the phytoconstituents of W. somnifera with binding affinity to the active site of viral protein 1 (VP1) of infectious bursal disease virus. Molecular docking assays were performed between VP1 and 27 phytoconstituents described in W. somnifera. The binding energy data obtained were analysed with the Kruskal-Wallis test and Dunn’s test (p<0.05). The results showed that the compounds somniferin, withanolide A, with...

Cotton is a resilient and multipurpose crop, meeting major of the world’s textile needs while also yielding byproducts like edible oil and animal feed. Starch plays a crucial role in cotton fabric production. It enhances fabric strength by forming a protective film around cotton fibers, making them more resistant to wear and tear. BES1 (brassinosteroid insensitive 1) is a key regulator in brassinosteroid signaling. It controls thousands of target genes involved in development processes. Interestingly, two β-amylase proteins (BAM7 and BAM8) are part of the BES1 family, despite their primary function as β-amylases. β-Amylase (BAM) and BES1 are two gene families with functional and regulatory roles in controlling shoot growth and development by mediating brassinosteroid effects. They share similar domains and participate in various biological processes, tolerance and responses to ...

Earth's behavior comprehension can be achieved by the analysis of Remote Sensing data, but considering the unprecedented volumes of information currently provided by different satellites sensors, the problem can be regarded as a big data problem. Machine learning techniques have the potential to improve the analysis of this type of data; however, most current machine learning algorithms are unable to properly process such huge volumes of data. In the attempt to overcome the computational limitations related to Remote Sensing Big Data analysis, we implemented the K-Means algorithms, a clustering technique, as distributed solution, exploiting the capabilities of cloud computing infrastructure for processing very large datasets. The solution was developed over the InterCloud Data Mining Package, which is a suite of distributed classification methods, previously employed in hyperspectral ima...

The present study proposes a method of automatic detection of tuberculosis (TB) bacilli from digital images of Ziehl Neelsen sputum smear baciloscopy. The method is based on an algorithm that aims to automate the interpretation of optical microscopic images of sputum smears. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a specialist can not analyze and process more than 20 samples per day (in order to not affect the analysis sensitivity and commit errors in diagnosis). Therefore, an automated tool as the proposed here, is an important contribution to the current efforts to fight tuberculosis. The algorithm is based on geometric eccentricity of ellipses and improvement of RGB component tones. Correspondence functions adjusted to sample preparation conditions were applied in order to improve the RGB primary component tones of the image. This allows to obtain an adequate segmentation of...

From the covariant formulation of radiation intensity of Hartemann-Kerman model entirely constructed in the classical electrodynamics scenario, a formulation of coherent states has been obtained in an explicit manner represented by the infinite sum of integer-order Bessel functions. Both linear and nonlinear Compton scattering are included, suggesting that Compton processes can be perceived as coherent states of lightmatter interaction.

Usability is nowadays an aspect that determines the success of any software product, and the embedded systems in the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) are not the exception. This fact represents a challenge for the software developers that are forced to guarantee the design of usable interfaces. Some attempts to achieve the required degree of usability in a software of this domain, involve the application of user-centered techniques in the elaboration process of the design proposals for the functionality of the ATMs. However, there is a lack of a formal methodological procedure. In this research, a systematic review was conducted to identify the approaches that are used to guide the design process of ATM interfaces. From a total of 492 studies, only 10 were selected as relevant. Although usability is an important aspect, only a small number of authors report the use of frameworks, that ar...

Spermidine is a polyamine compound found in fruits, vegetables, meats and milk products. It is also known for its role as a modulator of functions for DNA, RNA, nucleotide triphosphates and proteins. Some recent experimental studies have shown that it has an inhibitory function on the protein related to the pathogenesis of myotonic dystrophy type 1 (MBNL‐1), providing some hope in relation to this disease presently without cure. However these studies have not provided sufficient information to explain its inhibitory role. In the present work, the existing interaction between spermidine and the MBNL‐1 protein has been confirmed by computational chemistry. The quantum mechanics analysis was carried out with the CAM‐B3LYP density functional, using a TZVP basis set. For the molecular mechanics, the OPLS‐AA force field was used, followed immediately by the solvation of the MBNL‐1 pr...
