Objective: To determine the association between depression and functional dependence in elderly patients of the Centro Geriátrico Naval (Peruvian naval medical center for elderly people). Materials and methods: A retrospective, cross-sectional, analytic study conducted from a secondary data analysis, with a convenience sample size of 625 elderly people. Results: In the linear regression analysis which predicts functional dependence according to the Barthel Index, it was found that, for each point in the Yesavage questionnaire, the Barthel Index score decreases 4.8±1.82 points and, for every 5 points, it decreases 29.99±3.62 points. In relation to the Lawton Index, significant outcomes were found regarding age, gender, military rank, physical performance, grip strength and depression. Conclusions: The results show an association between depression and functional dependence in performin...

Social impact assessment (SIA) has become an important factor for social conflicts prevention. In this study, we conducted SIA using the center-point triangular whitenization weight functions (CTWF) method, which is based on grey systems theory. A case study was conducted on a hydrocarbon exploration project located in the Gulf of Valencia, Spain. Two stakeholder groups and four evaluation criteria were identified. The results revealed that for the group of the directly linked population, the project would have very negative social impact; and for the group of indirectly linked citizens, the project would have negative social impact. The results could help central and community governments to make the best decision on the project. The method showed interesting results and could be apply to SIA of other projects or programs.

We present a simple test of spatial autocorrelation based on the skedastic structure of the spatial series. Its distribution function is known for all sample sizes. Moreover, it is very simple to obtain, specially in a case of small samples where the new GQsp test has great power, higher than other alternatives existing in the literature.

Call center are presented as a strategy that allows organizations to centralize business and delegate the organizational function of the relationship company - client. Its operation is based on the number of stations or modules in order to ensure better productivity of the system. This work intends to make a proposal for module used in the call center in the city of Manizales - Colombia, taking into account the standard technique Colombian NTC 1440 and international standards from the National Institute of safety and hygiene at work NTP 242 and NTP 602, with regard to ergonomic factors. The population was divided by a proportional stratified probability of cluster sampling. As a result it is proposed a flexible modular prototype, which has the conditions with which it is expected to achieve increases in productivity and reduction of injuries or illnesses that may occur when working on th...

This research is aimed at working out a systemic and holistic approach to entrepreneurship development, regarding the complex interaction of cultural and economic factors. The research objectives include proposing a new economic and cultural paradigm to study entrepreneurship and to substantiate the provision on the endogenous nature of the relationship between culture and business. The research hypothesis implies the assumption that economic culture should be considered as a supporting frame of a single economic reality, and entrepreneurial culture should be regarded as a backbone structure of entrepreneurial behavior models. The research methods are based on the analysis and comparison of the mainstream and alternative theories, within the framework of which ideas about entrepreneurial activity were formed. An alternative methodology was proposed that arose under the influence of the c...

The study begins with a critical analysis of the contents oriented to the functional vision of public spaces, mobility and accessibility through territorial planning in the historic center of Cusco, to then delve into similar experiences in other sites of the same condition. Through the application of a mixed methodology, quantitative and qualitative data have been identified based on three variables and categories of study: the physical dimension of the intervention, the social-cultural dimension depending on the intervened space and the economic repercussions that have been given by the change of use of the street. All the data obtained and compared are given as a result of the pedestrianization process between 2006 and 2022. Finally, the results are scopes that occur from the perception of occasional passers-by, frequent users and administrators of buildings destined for different use...

Objective:The objective of the present study was to determine the frequency and distribution of diagnoses of functional occlusal disorders among patients treated in undergraduate and postgraduate oral rehabilitation at the Teaching Dental Clinic of the Peruvian Cayetano Heredia University between 2016 and 2017. Material andmethods:The research was descriptive, retrospective, observational, and cross-sectional. The variables considered were the diagnoses of functional occlusal disorders, classifying them by gender, age, educational level, and location. A database comprising all digitized medical records was used with a case presentation planned and accepted by the tutoring teacher and a certificate of commitment accepted by the patient. Results: It was found that the most common diagnosis was collapsed occlusion (38.69% of diagnoses, n = 166), followed by occlusal disharmony (36.13%, n = ...

Older adults are more prone to suffer diseases and comorbidities that affect their oral condition, so they need prosthodontic treatments conditioned to their systemic state to restore their masticatory, aesthetic and oral harmony function. However, the poor culture of prevention and the lack of specialized professionals in their care greatly hinders this work. Objective: To determine the prosthodontic treatments in older adults performed in the Service of Estomatología in Pacientes Especiales of the Centro Dental Docente Cayetano Heredia from april 2016 to december 2018. ATMs are widely used around the world, which leads to the development of new functionalities that need to consider usability. For this reason, the following article presents the development of graphical interfaces for ATM of BBVA Continental Bank, which follows a user-centered process design. In the first place, we gathered information about our target user. Then, we developed a prototype based on the previous information and the needs of the bank, which also took into account expert’s feedback. Finally, real users in the bank itself validated the prototypes.

The female hormonal profile is of utmost importance for the assessment of the endocrinological functional status and the diagnosis of diseases. The analysis must delimit their normality intervals based on the manufacturer's cut-off points. Due to not all intervals can be evaluated before use, it is imperative to verify the reference intervals to achieve uniformity in the interpretation of results in the female population. We determine the reference intervals of five female sex hormones [Follicle Stimulating hormone (FSH), Estradiol, Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Prolactin, and progesterone] using electrochemiluminescence in the Cobas e411 (Roche). We included female patients >18 years old, between the 3rd and 15th day of the menstrual cycle (follicular phase) and had no previous medical history or recent medication. For reference intervals analysis, we followed the recommendations of the CLS...

Objetives: To describe the occupational medical characteristics of professional drivers and the toxicological results present in traffic accidents in an occupational health center in Metropolitan Lima. 2014-2018. Material and methods: Retrospective descriptive study of secondary source data analysis. The sample size analyzed was 11520 professional drivers from the city of metropolitan Lima during 2014 to 2018, selected from an unnamed database using a probabilistic simple randomization sample. Univariate descriptive statistics were used using absolute and relative frequency values, calculation of 95% confidence intervals and error diagrams for each of the variables, identifying the differences in each of the categories or levels of the variable. The information processing was performed in the statistical program R version 3.6. Results: 64% of drivers suffer from overweight or obesity, 58...
