The residual cyst is a result of remnant periapical inflammatory tissue produced by tooth extraction without a thorough curettage. It mainly affects males and the maxilla. Its diagnosis depends on the clinical, radiographic and histopathological examination findings. The present case aims to report the case of a residual cyst in the anterior region on the maxilla of the oral cavity in an adult patient of the Centro Dental Docente Cayetano Heredia with a history of dental extractions in the lesion area of 10 months ago. An enucleation was performed and a sample was taken for the pathological examination, which subsequently confirmed the diagnosis of residual cyst.

The presence of multiple supernumerary teeth in the oral cavity is an infrequent alteration of dental development in patients who do not have an associated syndrome, that can induce various alterations such as malocclusions, delay in dental eruption, reabsorption of adjacent teeth, cyst formation, root dilacerations and giroversions. The objective of this clinical case is to report the presence of multiple supernumerary teeth, which caused the ectopic eruption and gyroversion of adjacent teeth, causing a crossbite in the oral cavity of a non-syndromic pediatric patient of the Centro Dental Docente Cayetano Heredia in 2019. The treatment performed was the simple extraction of the erupted supernumerary teeth and the complex extraction with flap of the retained ones.

Older adults are more prone to suffer diseases and comorbidities that affect their oral condition, so they need prosthodontic treatments conditioned to their systemic state to restore their masticatory, aesthetic and oral harmony function. Objective: To determine the prosthodontic treatments in older adults performed in the Service of Estomatología in Pacientes Especiales of the Centro Dental Docente Cayetano Heredia from april 2016 to december 2018. Material and methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective study was carried out in a sample of 144 older adults with 200 treatments performed. To develop a systemic and synthetic review of temporomandibular joint anatomy on magnetic resonance images for evaluation. Temporomandibular joint is an anatomical structure made up of bones, muscles, ligaments, and an articular disc that allows important physiological movements to be made, such as opening, closing, protrusion, retrusion, and mandibular lateralization. Magnetic resonance is an imaging technique that does not use ionizing radiation and is more specific for soft tissues evaluation and interpretation, due to its high resolution, which is why it has an important role in various maxillofacial pathologies diagnosis, reason by which dentist must have temporomandibular joint structures and functions knowledge by means of magnetic resonance images. The review demonstrates magnetic resonance imaging importance in the study of temporomandibular joint anatomy study, in addition to m...

Haptic Virtual Reality (HVR) simulators are increasingly crucial in modern clinical education. Within this context, the significance of feedback provided by instructors to students is evident. This feedback can be delivered either face-to-face or remotely, the latter facilitated by an individualized audio and microphone system. However, there is limited literature exploring and illustrating the advantages and disadvantages of these two approaches. Objective: To determine the impact of remote vs. face-to-face feedback on the process of acquiring manual dexterity using an HVR simulator among first-year students at the School of Stomatology of Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. Material and methods: A study was conducted involving 37 participants (mean age = 18.2 years; SD = 3.2 years) without prior dental training. They were randomly assigned to three groups (n1 = 17; n2 = 10; n3 = 10)....

Compound odontoma is a rare pathology and represents 1.3% of all odontogenic tumors. Its etiology is multifactorial and is attributed mainly to some theories. Also to trauma and genetic factors, etc. Treatment is the enucleation of the entity. The present case is of a 7-year-old male patient who attended the Teaching Dental Center of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima - Peru, presenting the absence of tooth 63 and a tumor in the anterosuperior area on the left side. Imaging examinations such as periapical and panoramic radiographs and Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) were performed; subsequently, the odontogenic tumor was enucleated and tooth 63 was extracted; the presumptive diagnosis was confirmed by the pathological anatomical examination as a compound odontoma. Knowledge of the normal characteristics of the oral cavity and the chronology of tooth eruption can lead to ...

The management of panfacial and midfacial trauma requires not only knowledge of basic osteosynthesis principles and techniques, but also a methodical protocol of action before surgery and adapted to each patient. The present case is about a male patient in the second decade of life with panfacial traumatism after a traffic accident with direct impact who came to the Pablo Arturo Suarez Hospital in the city of Quito as an emergency patient. On initial evaluation, he presented Glasgow scale 10/15 and reported swallowing salty liquid on verbal response, significant edema in the face, bilateral periorbital ecchymosis, bilateral subconjunctival hemorrhage, friction abrasions in nasal and genital region, blood stigmata in nostrils and mouth, significant edema in upper and lower lip, step at premaxilla level on the right side, loss of continuity of occlusion, limited mouth opening. Her diag...
