The COVID-19 health crisis posed a new scenario for society, having a ripple effect in, academic areas; to a greater extent, the audiovisual. University entities were ahead of events and proposed TRIC practices that would serve for the times that were to come and that in many cases were ahead of now normalized actions. This research analyzes the cognitive, emotional and social learning acquired by students in quarantine and how the realization of Radio Nebrija in the radio field and Nebrija Talent in the television field, two TRIC projects based on an ABP methodology, served to configure new working models for students and new university dynamics for teachers. The change from ICT context to TRIC is exposed and through a discussion group with young students and in-depth interviews with experts in the field of teaching and learning environments. The effedtiveness od intermethodology in aca...

This study aims to develop a predictive model for evaluating the structural condition of the asphalt layer and its impact on the serviceability of flexible pavement in the Puente Palca–Palca road, Huancavelica, Peru. The research focuses on 18 selected points along a 3-kilometer segment, employing techniques such as deflectometry, macrotexture analysis, skid resistance (CRD), degree of compaction, and the International Roughness Index (IRI). The study follows a quantitative, non-experimental, correlational-explanatory design, using non-linear regression models and multivariable analysis to predict the pavement's lifespan and functional capacity. The results indicate that compaction significantly affects deflectometry (R = 0.543), while asphalt content inversely influences macrotexture (R² = 0.5648). A critical reduction in surface texture (<1.0 mm) occurs when asphalt content excee...

Stroke is a major cause of death and disability, with most of its burden now affecting low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). People in rural areas of LMIC who have a stroke receive very little acute stroke care and local healthcare workers and family caregivers in these regions lack the necessary knowledge to assist them. Intriguingly, a recent rapid growth in cell-phone use and digital technology in rural areas has not yet been appropriately exploited for health care training and delivery purposes. What should be done in rural areas, at the community setting-level, where access to healthcare is limited remains a challenge. We review the evidence on improving post-stroke outcomes including lowering the risks of functional disability, stroke recurrence, and mortality, and propose some approaches, to target post-stroke care and rehabilitation, noting key challenges in designing suitable...

Marfan´s syndrome is a multisystemic, autosomal dominant congenital abnormality of variable penetrance that affects the integrity of connective tissue. In the cardiovascular system, the dysfunction of the physiology of the aortic root and the myocardial fibrosis originates non-ischemic cardiomyopathy independent of valve lesions. Few data have been reported on the prevalence of arrhythmias and its impact on heart function. We present a 21-year-old man with Marfan’s syndrome and heart failure with frequent supraventricular arrhythmias and aortic root dilation. After ablation in the posteroseptal area of the mitral ring and Tirone David Surgery, there was clinical improvement, the left ventricular ejection fraction increased dramatically from 33% to 46%, the left ventricular end-diastolic volume decreased from 90 ml/m2 to 77 ml/m2 and the NT-proBNP decrease from 1100 pg/mL at 180 pg/mL.

Background: Self-injurious behaviors are highly prevalent in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), occurring frequently in those with associated intellectual disabilities as well as in those without intellectual impairment. Single-case studies have found that functional communication training helps regulate self-injurious behaviors and repetitive behaviors, particularly in children with ASD. However, no review identifies whether there is experimental evidence to support the use of this treatment. Objective: Our review aims to determine the efficacy of functional communication training for regulating self-injurious behavior in children and adolescents diagnosed with ASD. Methods: A systematic review was conducted.PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Embase were searched for single-case experimental studies and randomized clinical trials. Result...

From a mathematical model given by the integral Im,n=∫Pm(x)G(x)Jn(x)dx where Pm(x) a polynomial function, G(x) a Gaussian function, and Jn(x) is the integer-order Bessel function, we have performed simulations to evaluate the possible scenario of outbreak of Zika virus (ZIKV) in a big city. Our study is motivated from the outbreaks in Brazil (2007). We have assumed a list of probabilities which are connected to the number of cases in-risk which is changing in time. Also, the intervention is defined as the fraction ΔIm,n and it is selected by the Monte Carlo step. Simulations takes into account the rapid intervention that means the transfer of those identified (e.g. pregnant women) to save and clean areas away from the mosquitoes Aedes.

Tuberculosis is highly prevalent and is still currently the leading cause of adrenal insufficiency in many areas of the world. Clinically this disease remains asymptomatic during early stages, but due to adrenal function loss symptoms become insidious and gradual, mostly unspecific. We report two cases of female patients with clinical symptoms of chronic bilateral primary adrenal insufficiency with active tuberculosis infection by histopathology.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma is considered the most common malignancy in the laboratory, and one of the main causes is due to solar radiation, among other factors. The most common form of clinical presentation is manifested as an ulcerated, endophytic or exophytic lesion that progressively increases and infiltration by continuity in the adjacent areas, with a high risk of regional metastasis to lymph nodes or distant organs, so their attention is of utmost importance in primary stages to improve the prognosis of the disease, as well as to know the treatment, with surgery being the treatment of choice. That said, a case of cancer is presented in a superior laboratory, and its protocol of care from assessment to management, preserving the function and aesthetics of the patient.

Peru is a varied and convulsed country, and our republican history is a proof for that. The Peruvian health system has just been built during the 20th century. However, its development has been continuously affected by inadequate government policies and by corrosive and constant corruption acts. Now, in the 21st century, the health system has undergone some sort of reconstruction, but still with a very low budget and continuing venal practices that impede its proper functioning. This paper attempts to describe the anthropological basis underlying the human actions leading to corruption. It also reviews some of the main corruption modalities within the whole Peruvian healthcare system, a fragmented entity both in its public area and in its private counterpart. Also, some influencing factors are dealt with, as it is the case for the pharmaceutical industry. The resulting situation of the P...

Education on Engineering urges of learning methodologies different to the current ones that would allow students to profile competences in accordance to the exigencies of the competitive exercise of engineering, in which they will perform the essential functions typical of the career and develop as an upright, mature, and reflective people. Three questions are brought up in this study: Which are the basic competences that need a contemporary engineer? How can the learning of these basic competences be improved and assessed in engineering students? The results allow to show, by comparing groups of students belonging to the course of “Direccion de proyectos en Ingenieria” (Engineering Project Management), that there exists strong evidence for improvement of basic competences: underlying science knowledge, knowledge of fundamental and advanced engineering, engineering reasoning and prob...

Paracoccidioidomycosis is a systemic mycosis, endemic to Latin America, caused by the dimorphicfungus Paracoccidioides spp., mainly acquired through the inhalation of spores present in theenvironment. It predominantly affects males in rural areas due to their frequent exposure tocontaminated soil. Following primary infection, the pathogen has the potential to spread viahematogenous or lymphatic routes, involving various organs and systems. The acute form ofparacoccidioidomycosis impairs peripheral T-cell function and disrupts neutrophil maturation, while the chronic form is characterized by a progressive decline of the cellular immune response, along with increased Th1-cytokine levels. Severe cases may present with hypergammaglobulinemia, reduced phagocytic capacity and immune dysregulation. The most significant risk factors includeprior immunosuppression and infectious comorbidities, such ...

The purpose of this article is to reflect on a complex conception of the concept of territory within the framework of the link with the environment of Chilean state universities. To achieve this purpose, the institutional policies of the area of the 18 universities of the State of Chile, the Higher Education Law and the Law of State Universities were reviewed, as well as the reference framework of linkage with the environment of the Consortium of Universities of the State of Chile. The results indicate that in the documents analyzed there is a poor definition of the concept of territory, and its mention is mainly geographical, which deprives a critical sense of a highly relevant university function for the development of society.

The Traumatic Bone Cyst is an intraosseous cavity that appears in the jaw of young patients. One of the most accepted theories is about bleeding inside the bone due to trauma, instead of the correct formation of the clot, the liquefactive necrotic clot is reabsorbed in another way, forming the cyst. The first objective of this clinical case is to return the functionality and correct health of the patient. The second objective is linked to the presentation of a specific clinical case, which will allow us to illustrate the treatment of the Traumatic Bone Cyst of a 16-year-old male patient, who attended an orthodontic consultation, being referred to an interconsultation with the surgery area. maxillofacial, due to discomfort in the lower right quadrant when chewing. As a complementary examination, the computerized axial tomography CT scan shows a radiolucent shadow compatible with a "bone...

The present study proposes, in the first part, the descriptive review of the four approaches in the transport sector and their strategies to generate solutions present in the planning of intermediate cities. Likewise, the process of changing the views and models of the city of Arequipa is recognized, through the qualitative analysis of the approach of the transport sector of the two master plans executed in the last 15 years with significant impact for the relationship. The first plan analyzed (2002-2015) was oriented to the consolidation of the central area, two centralities in the north and south, and five functional units articulated by a longitudinal road system from north to south, a road ring and a complementary arterial mesh. The second master plan (2016-2025) constitutes the deconcentration of the central area, the consolidation of two secondary centers (north and south), and six ...
