The aim of this research is to examine the so-called Guayaquil Interview held between José de San Martín and Simón Bolívar on July 26 and 27, 1822. Using a variety of historical sources, we have been able to clarify the backgrounds, rebuild the ex post facto agenda, clarify the leit motiv of some decisions, identify some consequences and evaluate their political, military and historical relevance as a turning point in the South American independence process.

The benthonic opisthobranch species reported for Northern Perú are presented here. The aim of the study is to show the species diversity of benthic opisthobranchs found in the northern coast, show the importance of their study and. awake the interest on these taxa. This work is based on a literature recompilation from all studies available in the matter showing reported species for the area of interest. Seventeen species previously known for the northern coast, classified for the Informal Group Opisthobranchia within 6 clades, 12 families and 14 genera are shown. In spite of the high diversity potential that the area of study shows, relatively low numbers of species are found due to the scarce research in the matter.

El presente trabajo muestra las especies bentónicas de Opisthobranchia registradas para el norte del Perú. El trabajo se basa en la recopilación de la literatura científica disponible para el área de interés. Se presentan las 17 especies reportadas para dicha zona, clasificadas dentro del Grupo Informal Opisthobranchia en 6 clados, 12 familias y 14 géneros. A pesar del alto potencial de diversidad que se le otorga a la costa norte peruana, el número de especies registradas es bajo, debido principalmente al escaso número de exploraciones e investigaciones realizadas.

The mangrove crab fishery has had participatory monitoring since 2011. The objective of this work was to show the lessons learned in the implementation and development of participatory monitoring of the mangrove crab Ucides occidentalis (Ortmann, 1897) in Ecuador. The work was carried out as a descriptive case study. The level of compliance of the fishing organizations involved was estimated considering the information reported by the Public Institute of Aquaculture and Fisheries Research. The level of compliance decreased over time despite the fact that the number of organizations increased between 2011 and 2013. In 2013, the overall compliance was less than 40% with a negative trend, since December 2011. La cuenca del río Taura se encuentra conformada por el río del mismo nombre, el cual, con 1 962 Km2 de recorrido, llega hasta el mar desembocando por el Golfo de Guayaquil al Océano Pacífico, en la costa de Ecuador. Dicha cuenca alberga un gran desarrollo humano que, en mayor o menor grado, podría incidir en la flora de la misma. El objetivo de esta investigación fue registrar la composición florística de dicha cuenca, caracterizando florísticamente los estuarios y riberas de la misma, a fin de contribuir al conocimiento florístico del Golfo de Guayaquil, el más grande de Sudamérica. The increase in Guayaquil’s cocoa traffic in New Spain is analyzed and how it brought about the commercial opening of 1776 and the Anglo-Spanish war of 1779-1783, giving rise to the mobility of the Icaza brothers from Panama to Guayaquil and New Spain. Likewise, the interpersonal links established by Francisco Ignacio de Yraeta and Isidro Antonio de Icaza are examined, as well as how they exchanged increasing amounts of the Ecuadorian bean for goods from Europe and Asia, based on complex family networks, nationhood, and businesses that rendered the confidence required by the magnitude of the trade they carried out, the need to resort to credit, and the slowness of information circulation.

The mangrove crab Ucides occidentalis (Ortmann, 1897) is a fishery resource in Ecuador regulated only for catching males, which are commercialized mainly in packages of 12 individuals. Our objective was to analyze the meat crab of U. occidentalis cooked by two methods (boiling and steaming) as well as show two alternatives of added value (nuggets: aromatic and coconut). Crabs were collected from commercial catches made on Mondragon Island, Gulf of Guayaquil. The meat crab was extracted by hand and the percentages of protein, fat and ash were determined. Consumer preference was evaluated by a sensory panel. A total of 72 male crabs were processed, ranging in size from 75 to 88 mm carapace width. La investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar la eficiencia de la fertilización química y orgánica en la producción de plantones de dos variedades del genero Guadua (Guayaquil y Calo) presentes en la provincia de Rodríguez de Mendoza, Amazonas - Perú. Introduction: Guayaquil population has an endemic – epidemic presence of dengue and there are few studies on the historical trend of the factors that influence its behavior. Objective: To establish the historical trend of factors relate to the dynamics of dengue in the city of Guayaquil during the period 2008 - 2013. Design. Non-experimental study, longitudinal trend. Setting: City of Guayaquil, Ecuador. Material: Cases of dengue. Methods: Information on cases of Dengue, temperature, humidity and wind, Breteau index and circulating viruses were obtained. Main outcome measures: Historical trend of the factors that influence the dynamics of dengue. El estudio tuvo por objetivo determinar las habilidades comunicativas de los estudiantes de la Universidad de Guayaquil cursantes de la asignatura didáctica. Para ello se asumió el enfoque cualitativo, diacrónicamente se desarrolló como investigación descriptiva, con diseño fenomenológico. Los participantes fueron 12 estudiantes inscritos en el curso de Didáctica, durante el primer período de 2022, empleando la observación participante con un baremo para evaluar las habilidades; la categoría de estudio fueron las habilidades comunicativas y como subcategorías apriorísticas: habilidades para leer, escribir, escuchar y hablar.
