In Radiopharmacy the use of complexes as radiopharmaceutical requires that the procedure of labelling (complexing) achieves a radiochemical purity ot the complex ligand-Tc 99m greater than 98%. A study to find the chemical and physical parameters which allows the complexing of the EC ligand with Te 99m and the biological distribution is presented.

This work aims to isolate the 28KDa proteinase from the parasite Fasciola hepatica (Linnaeus, 1758). This cysteinyl protease was purified by classical methods such as the ammonium sulphate precipitation, G-25 and G-75 gel filtration chromatographies, affinity chromatography with thiol sepharose 4B and SDS-PAGE 12% electrophoresis. The enzymatic activity of Cathepsin L was monitored in each step of purification using a specific substrate. The cysteine proteinase was observed as a pure and homogenous band in the SDS-PAGE gel. The recovery percentage was 12.7%, with a specific activity of 337,500 umol, min-1 mg-1 and a purification factor of the enzyme of 260. Using this simple scheme of purification we purified to homogeneity the cathepsin L of 28KDa from the regurgitate in an effective way compared with other alternative methods. The amount of protein obtained was 0.032 mg·mL-¹. The enz...

In this research we studied the fruit of «Níspero de la Sierra>) as functional food. The carotenoids have been fractioned in two bands by layer chromatography. The major pigment was identified by it's spectral caractheristics in several solvents: ¡3-caroteno (15.18 mg/kg). The cuantification of minerals and proximal analysis were: potasium (1566 ppm), sodium (745 ppm), calciumn (424 ppm), magnesio (290 ppm), iron (5.40 ppm); and carbohidrates (34 .72%), respectively.

Oxidative stress generates several inflammatory diseases with cell death and carcinogenesis. Luma chequen (Molina) A. Gray "arrayán" is a native specie with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial virtues and corpse (post mortem tissue) preservative .With the goal of characterizing the chemical composition and determining antioxidant activity of essential oil of L. chequen, it was carried out the present work. The essential oil reports a (1.25 % v /p) performance, (+6 a -8) optical rotation, (0.9044 g/mL) density and a (1.470) refraction index. By means of CG-SM and NMR-13C it was elucidated the structures of 40 compounds at a 93,6 % of the whole sample, monoterpenic hydrocarbons (68.8 %), containing α-pinene (57.3 %) and β-pinene (6.2 %) oxygenated hydrocarbons (18.9%), emphasizing 1,8 cineol (7.5 %), linalool (3.7 %), and trans-verbenol (2.2 %), sesquiterpenes (3.0 %), with β-selinene ...

The aim of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of essential oil Minthostachys mollis “ruyaq muña”, against Helicobacter pylori, Shigella dysenteriae, Salmonella typhi and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The leaves of M. mollis were collected in the district of Huamanguilla (3000-3200 m.s.n.m), Huanta province, Ayacucho region. The essential oil obtained by distillation with water vapor drag. The antibacterial activity was determined by plate cultive excavation method, resulting in order of sensitivity, for S. dysenteriae 21.41 mm; H. pylori 17,07 mm; S. typhi 14.25 mm and P. aeruginosa 11.45 mm. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) for H. pylori were determined by the microplate dilution method, resulting in 2 μg/mL. For the other bacteria was determined by the dilution method, being for S. dysenteriae 4 μg/ml, S. typhi...

Human T-lymphotropic virus 1 (HTLV-1) can cause HTLV-1-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP). The objective of this study was to gain insight into the pathogenesis of HAM/TSP by focusing on the CD8(+) T-cell response. Twenty-three HTLV-1-seronegative controls (SC), 29 asymptomatic HTLV-1 carriers (AC) and 48 patients with HAM/TSP were enrolled in the study. We evaluated the production of interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells stimulated with Tax overlapping peptides, the expression of genes related to the CD8(+) cytotoxic T-cell response, the frequency of CD4(+) Foxp3(+) cells and of dendritic cells, and the HTLV-1 provirus load (PVL). The frequency of cells producing IFN-gamma in response to Tax 161-233, but not to Tax 11-19, discriminated patients with HAM/TSP from AC. The increased pro-inflammatory response observed in patients with H...

The aim of this study was to determine the applicability of near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for the nutritional assessment of two important forage species in the country: alfalfa (Medicago sativa L) and red clover (Trifolium pratense L). For this, 75 samples of alfalfa varieties (SW 8210, WL 625HQ) and 75 of red clover varieties (Quiñequeli, Kendland) obtained from the paddocks of the IVITA El Mantaro Experimental Station, Junín region, Peru were used. Proximal analysis was performed determining the content of crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), crude fibre (CF), total ash (TA) and neutral detergent fibre (NDF), and the spectrum was captured using NIRS equipment. The calibration and validation models were developed to estimate the predictive capacity using Partial Least Squares (PLS), and the accuracy and precision statistics used were the Correlation Coefficient (R), Determinati...

Introduction. There is a knowledge gap concerning patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who are not eligible for intensive induction chemothera-py; this, together with a recent increase in the incidence in Latin America, encloses a need. Through real-world evidence, we describe and compare the results of the different treatment strategies within this context. Methodology. This is a longitu-dinal, descriptive, retrospective study of a cohort of Latin American patients with AML not eligible for intensive induction chemotherapy, treated with low-intensity chemotherapy or with the best supportive care alone between January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2018. Results. Of a total of 125 patients (median age 74.8 years), the majority received low-intensity chemotherapy (78.4%). The median time in months of overall survival (9.2), progression-free survival (4.8), and time to treatment failure (3...
