Objetivos: Relacionar el consumo de frutas y verduras con las características de sexo, edad, condición socio-económica y nivel educativo de los adultos mayores. Diseño: Estudio descriptivo, correlacional. Institución: Centro de Investigación en Bioquímica y Nutrición y Departamento de Nutrición, Facultad de Medicina, UNMSM. Introduction. The Peruvian population is aging and this is associated with the deterioration of health. This process can be slowed or accelerated depending on the nutritional status. Objectives. To determine the factors associated with nutritional status and nutritional risk in a group of older adults. Methods. 265 older adults, free of cognitive impairment and able to communicate, were surveyed, cared for in primary care centers. The Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) test was applied and weight, height, arm, and calf circumference were measured. According to the score, the categories of the MNA were: ‘malnourished’ <17, at ‘risk of malnutrition’ between 17 - 23.5; > 23.5 ‘normal’. Objectives: To determine the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors (CRF) in adolescents. Design: Descriptive and cross-sectional, multistage random sampling. Setting: Twelve state secondary schools, district of San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima-Peru. Participants: Adolescents. Objetivos: Determinar la relación entre las características socio demográficas y de salud propias del cuidador y del adulto mayor dependiente con enfermedad crónica, a quien cuida en el hogar, con su nivel de sobrecarga. OBJECTIVES: To assess of alimentary habits in adolescents of “Mi Perú” district. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Descriptive cross-sectional study developed in 2013. Participated 459 students of 4th and 5th grade coming from the state high school of Mi Peru distric, in the Callao Region. We used a questionnaire composed of 26 questions about omission and repetition of meals, add salt to food; fast food, junk food and fruits and vegetables consumption, company during meals, food consumption place, rate of food intake , nap after lunch, interval between dinner and bedtime and watch TV during meals. Background: In recent years weight excess has increased worldly. The physician is part of society and the first image in health care and should be adequately healthy. Objectives: To correlate lifestyle and overweight in medical residents. Design: Correlation, observational, prospective, transversal study. Setting: Hospital Nacional Daniel Alcides Carrion, Lima, Peru. Participants: Medical residents. Interventions: A sample of 34 medical residents 25 through 60 year-old was studied. Weight and height were obtained for body mass index and a lifestyle survey was applied. Main outcome measures: Lifestyle relation to weigh excess. Objective: To determine the presence of metabolic syndrome in overweight and obese adolescent population. Design: Clinical study. Setting: Endocrinology service. Hospital Nacional Dos de Mayo. Participants: Adolescents. Interventions: We studied 195 adolescents between 10 to 19 year-old. Inclusion criteria was that they should be overweight or obese. We used the reference population of Must et al. with the following diagnosis criteria: 85 to 95 percentile, overweight; higher than 95 percentile, obese. Weight, height and waist circumference (WC) were taken following international recommendations. Objectives: To determine the validity and reproducibility of a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) in order to assess calcium intake in women. Design: Longitudinal and prospective study. Location: Homes of Nutrition EAP students’ family environment in Lima. Participants: Women volunteers 30 to 50 year-old. Methods: Seventy-eight women volunteers 30 to 50 year-old were trained to keep food records (REC) for 7 days in two distinct periods four months apart. In the second period a FFQ survey with 24 food and preparations in normal portions was applied. Correlation was determined with Spearman rho and Kappa coefficient, as well as FFQ sensitivity and specificity; we present a Bland and Altman graphic.
