The aim of the study was to determine the frequency of infection markers for hepatitis B and hepatitis C and to identify associated factors in blood donors. The study was carried out using data obtained from blood donor medical records collected in a public hospital in Lima. Of 28,263 individuals analyzed between 2012 and 2015, 0.6% (n=156) were reactive for HBsAg; 5.2% (n=1,465), for anti-HBc; and 0.8% (n=232), for anti-HVC. Positive results for HBsAg (p=0.319) and anti-HVC (p=0.037) were more common in voluntary donors. For HBsAg and anti-HBc, positive results were more common in individuals aged 50 years or older. The number of voluntary donors was higher among individuals younger than 20 years (p<0.001). The study indicates that reactivity to hepatitis infection markers is associated with voluntary donation and the age group of blood donors.

In primary healthcare facilities (PHFs) in large cities such as Lima and Callao, outreach work is carried out in close proximity to the facilities, without the need to walk or travel for hours—sometimes on pack animals—to reach destinations, as occurs in many facilities in the interior of the country. Within the PHFs, there are undoubtedly healthcare workers willing to confront this challenge—committed professionals in whose hands, together with the community, lies the success of combating anemia. Therefore, anemia represents an opportunity for all those involved in primary healthcare to engage and promote a paradigm shift that enables a positive influence on other social determinants of health, thereby reducing anemia and other health problems.

Femicide, the most extreme manifestation of violence against women, requires the participation and vigilance of all social actors. A sensitized and prepared community can be the most important ally in neutralizing the problem of violence against women, as its members maintain closer relationships and are better positioned to respond promptly when women are at risk. Of course, this is not intended to diminish the work carried out by various state institutions; it is worth highlighting the prevention and promotion activities that the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations has been implementing at the level of primary healthcare facilities. Women deserve greater attention, and in this regard, this issue includes articles on family, pregnant women, non-pregnant women, and housewives.

Connectivity is a new determinant that influences other determinants. In Peru, access to broadband internet requires investment in infrastructure to expand fiber-optic networks or alternative technologies. Significant progress has been made in expanding internet coverage; however, sufficient financial resources and political will are still needed to prioritize it as a social good. Access to appropriate equipment and devices for internet connectivity is essential. In addition, promotion and training are necessary to achieve digital literacy, which can help strengthen self-care and reduce inequalities in access to health services.

The Discussion is the longest and most challenging section to write. It is the section where the findings are interpreted in relation to the study objectives in order to answer the research question. Most of the bibliographic references are included in the Discussion section, as they support the interpretation of the study results. To facilitate writing, the Discussion can be divided into three sections distributed across 6 to 8 paragraphs, using clear and concise language.
