We use a non-spatial (Chamberlinian) product differentiation model to analyze the welfare effects of horizontal mergers with quantity competition. We argue that (i) mergers can be welfare enhancing if the degree of product differentiation increases after the merger; and, (ii) privately profitable mergers can also increase welfare. Consequently, in this paper we demonstrate that the degree of product differentiation is a crucial factor to assess the welfare effects of a merger.

The architecture, engineering, construction, and operation (AECO) industry has brought transformations within the field. Despite the changes, traditional teaching methods such as analyzing two-dimensional plans and models are still being used in training processes, which do not effectively promote the development of spatial skills. In this context, augmented reality (AR) can be used as a tool to translate two-dimensional information into three-dimensional space. Explicit Finite Diferences Methods (FDM) are used for numerical simulations in seismic problems. In these cases the medium is heterogeneous and for the guarantee of a precise and stable solution there is the need to use refined discretizations for spatial and temporal variables, resulting in large-scale problems. In this paper we present the explicit FDM for the wave equation in a heterogeneous domain and show the results through computer simulations.

Most elementary Differential Geometry texts address the study of Frenet-Serret apparatus of spatial curves from a parameterization thereof. However, it is possible to calculate the Frenet-Serret apparatus of given spatial curves as the intersection of two surfaces expressed in Cartesian form. In this work the new package, FSAparatus, coded in the language of the scientific software is presented Mathematica v. 11.2. The outputs obtained are entirely compatible with the own commands of Mathematica. This package could become a tool in the process of Teaching course learning differential geometry of undergraduate.

El proyecto propone una nueva infraestructura para un colegio público en riesgo que sirve a alumnos de inicial, primaria, secundaria y CEBA en el distrito de Villa el Salvador. Este nuevo colegio busca relacionarse con el contexto al emplazarse en la pendiente del terreno por medio de cuatro plataformas diferenciadas de acuerdo al nivel educativo. En el Perú de acuerdo a los datos del INDECI, en los últimos 10 años se evidencia una tendencia creciente. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo representar las corrientes inducidas por oleaje en las zonas cercanas al puerto de Ilo, con el uso del software SMC y un programa de desarrollo propio en Matlab. En el presente estudio se utilizó para el módulo de oleaje la aproximación parabólica de RefDif, para un modelo de oleaje monocromático. El modelo numérico desarrollado en Matlab permite representar la hidrodinámica de olas y corrientes inducidas basado en las ecuaciones de Navier Stokes y conservación de masa, en forma diferencial con dos dimensiones espaciales (x, y) y una temporal (t). One set of genes that are of interest are the so-called X-degenerate Y-chromosome genes that are located in the male-specific region of the Y-chromosome (MSY). This region contains 95% of the DNA of the Y chromosome. These genes are single copy and have an X-chromosome homolog. Both, the Y-encoded and X-encoded homologs have ubiquitous expression profiles. However, some genes, like SRY that regulates male sex determination, have functions that are more specific. Identifying DNA sequence differences between these homologs will allow evaluation of their spatial and temporal expression patterns. Identification of the Y-encoded mRNAs and their isoforms will allow our understanding of tissue specific expression of isoforms in male tissues. This research examines Offa’s Dyke as a historical and symbolic artifact that functioned as a boundary, edge, and frontier, territorial, political, and identitarian, within the context of the transition from Late Antiquity to the Middle Ages in the British Isles. The study focuses on a specific case within the broader framework of walls as strategies of spatial control. Using a qualitative historical-documentary approach, it explores how a wall built in the 8th century by the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia not only physically demarcated the territory from the Brythonic peoples of the southwest, but also decisively contributed to the differentiated construction of two political identities that would later evolve into the nations of England and Wales.
