In this paper, we introduce certain regularizations for bifunctions, based on the corresponding regularization for functions, originally defined by J-P. Crouzeix. We show that the equilibrium problems associated to a bifunction and its regularizations are equivalent in the sense that they share the same solution set. Also, we introduce new existence results for the Equilibrium Problem, and we show some applications to minimization and Nash equilibrium problems.

The purpose of the present paper is to improve the global convergence results established so far concerning the Augmented Lagrangian Algorithm with exponential penalty function for solving nonlinear programming problems with equality and inequality constraints. We prove global convergence for KKT points under the PAKKT-regular constraint qualifications, which results as a consequence that accumulation points generated by the algorithm are PAKKT points. This convergence result is new for the augmented Lagrangian Method based on the exponential penalty function. An interesting consequence is that the estimates of the Lagrange multipliers computed by the method remain bounded in the presence of the quasi-normality condition. Finally we give optimality and feasibility results for the convex case.

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract which causes high health costs, substantially affects the quality of life and, depending on certain associated risk factors, reduces the functional capacity of the sufferer. By 2019, asthma affected 262 million people (4.3 % of the world’s population) and caused 461,000 deaths. It is estimated that therewill be an additional 100 million people with asthma by 2025. Severe asthma is a phenotype resistant to corticosteroids which causes a greater number of exacerbations and substantially affects the quality of life and functional capacity of the affected person. Its management was initially aimed at suppressing the symptoms and then evolved to understand, although not completely, the intrinsic systems of its generation. Thus, new ways of influencing its management have been studied by modulating the immune response and the ...

In Mexico, a high percentage of young people experience symptoms of generalized anxiety, which are associated with difficulties in executive functions (EF). However, previous studies have shown inconsistent results, as they often rely solely on either objective or subjective measures. Therefore, this study focused on analyzing the relationship between generalized anxiety and EF using both a neuropsychological battery and a self-report questionnaire, in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of cognitive functioning in adolescents. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational, and explanatory design was employed. The sample consisted of 96 adolescents between 12 and 15 years old from the state of Puebla, Mexico. A total of 10.41% of participants presented severe symptoms of generalized anxiety. A significant relationship was found between anxiety and one o...

This paper presents a comparative analysis of the electrode impedance for a vertical rod buried in a homogeneous ground where the soil electrical parameters (resistivity and permittivity) are frequency-dependent in relation to the impedances obtained with frequency-constant parameters. In this study, it is taken into account that vertical rod can be seen as a short transmission line whose electrical parameters (resistance, inductance, capacitance and conductance) are distributed along its length. Thus, the rod impedance is computed as being the harmonic impedance of the transmission line as a function of frequency. Once the rod impedances are obtained, and using the Vector Fitting technique, equivalent electrical circuits are obtained directly in time domain. The advantage of this type of representation is that equivalent circuit can be easily incorporated into EMTP-type programs for the...

CF is an autosomal recessive disease, requiring mutations to be present in both alleles in the CF transmembrane conductance regulatory gene (CFTR). The c.3274T> C (p.Tyr1092His) mutation is not registered in the “CFTR2 project” database, but it is registered in The Human Gene Mutation Database. Neither are the two DNAAF4 c.1177C> T (p.Leu393Phe) and DNAAF5 c.1195G> A (p.Glu399Lys) mutations found in the "CFTR Project”, and their clinical consequences are currently uncertain. Here, we report the case of a Peruvian woman presenting this mutation, bronchiectasis and loss of lung function and provide a review of the literature.

OBJECTIVE: The absence of an universal classification for hyperthyroidisms (HT), give rise to inadequate interpretation of series and trials, and prevents decision making. We offer a tentative classification based on gammagrafic and functional findings. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Clinical records from patients who underwent thyroidectomy in our Department since 1967 to 1997 were reviewed. Those with functional measurements of hyperthyroidism were considered. All were managed according to the same preestablished guidelines. RESULTS: HT was the surgical indication in 694 (27,1%) of the 2559 thyroidectomies. Based on gammagraphic studies, we classified HTs in: Parenchymatous Increased-Uptake, which could be Diffuse, Diffuse with Cold Nodules or Diffuse with at least one Nodule, and Nodular Increased-Uptake (Autonomous Functioning Thyroid Nodes [AFTN]), divided into Solitary AFTN or Toxic Adenoma...

Arsenic contamination in water represents a serious public health issue worldwide, particularly in regions where natural or anthropogenic sources contribute to concentrations exceeding the maximum permissible limit of 0.01 mg/L established by the World Health Organization. This study evaluated the efficiency of a ceramic matrix made from red clay impregnated with ferric oxide (Fe₂O₃) for arsenic removal and water quality improvement. Water samples were collected from the Apacheta River and treated using a continuous-flow system with supports calcined at 800 °C. Arsenic concentrations were determined by spectrophotometry, and physicochemical parameters were analyzed before and after treatment. The results showed a reduction in arsenic concentration from 0.17 mg/L to 0.0053 mg/L, achieving a removal efficiency of 94.5 %, along with improvements in turbidity, electrical conductivity, a...

Background Pyrazinamide is an important drug against the latent stage of tuberculosis and is used in both first- and second-line treatment regimens. Pyrazinamide-susceptibility test usually takes a week to have a diagnosis to guide initial therapy, implying a delay in receiving appropriate therapy. The continued increase in multi-drug resistant tuberculosis and the prevalence of pyrazinamide resistance in several countries makes the development of assays for prompt identification of resistance necessary. The main cause of pyrazinamide resistance is the impairment of pyrazinamidase function attributed to mutations in the promoter and/or pncA coding gene. However, not all pncA mutations necessarily affect the pyrazinamidase function. Objective To develop a methodology to predict pyrazinamidase function from detected mutations in the pncA gene. Methods We measured the catalytic constant (k(...

Tuberculosis is a leading killing disease worldwide with more than 9 million people a ected per year. Current diagnostic methods exhibit several disadvantages; one of the most promising alternatives to overcome this is the development of nanostructured diagnostic systems which are able to detect molecules associated with certain diseases. Graphene since its discovery has been the focus for the development of these sensing elements due to its excellent electronic properties. In this work, a graphene-based eld e ect transistor (FET) has been developed for tuberculosis DNA detection, in order to set the basis for a diagnostic method that overcomes current limitations. The sensing elements composed of graphene monolayers were manufactured in the stages of annealing of the substrate, addition of the linker and functionalization with the addition of a probe DNA for tuberculosis detection. The objective of the research was to demonstrate that evidence-based learning as a didactic strategy influences the production of functional texts in university students. For this, the following methodology was used: quantitative approach, experimental level, quasi-experimental design. For data collection, the observation and survey technique was used: the instrument used was the rubric —differential semantic scale—, and knowledge test —measures the intellectual part—. To express the data, visual representations, tables and figures were used, obtained through the SPSS v.26 software. The statistical results allowed us to test the hypothesis through the Mann-Whitney U, indicating that the experimental group presents a better result in relation to the control group. In conclusion, evidence-based learning is an advantage for the development of the production of functional texts.

Childhood malnutrition and anemia constitute a serious public health problem, driving the search for foods enriched with protein and vitamin supplements to help reduce this issue. In this context, the present research was developed with the objective of creating a protein rich, probiotic, and energy boosting becerage based on mango (Mangifera indica), whey, and Lactobacillus casei. Five treatments were formulated with different proportions of mango pulp and whey (T1: 90/10, T2: 70/30, T3: 50/50, T4: 30/70, and T5: 10/90, with two replicates per treatment. The bererages were inoculated with L. casei, and the pH was monitored every 48 hours for 14 days. Aprogessive decrease in pH from 5.0 - 6.0 to aproximately 4.0 was observed, demonstrating the viability and stability of the probiotic during storage. Regarding protein composition, treatment T5 reached 4.92 g/100 ml of protein, while treat...

“Cotton is the most widely used natural fiber for textiles; however, the capacity of cotton fibers to absorb large amounts of moisture, retain oxygen, and have a high specific surface area makes them more prone to microbial contamination, becoming an appropriate medium for the growth of bacteria and fungi. In recent years, the incorporation of silver nanoparticles in textile products has been widely used due to their broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and low toxicity towards mammalian cells. The aim of the current study is to continue the assessment of our developed nanocomposite and evaluate the antibacterial and antifungal activity of the nanocomposite based on silver nanoparticles and carboxymethyl chitosan (AgNPs-CMC) against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans, evaluated by the well diffusion method. The antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. a...
