Computed tomography (CT) is a breakthrough technology used in medicine for diagnostic diseases. The same technique is used in other areas, such as aerospace chemistry, Radio astronomy, etc. The main objective of the CT is to reconstruct the internal part of an object without having to open it as a non-destructive test. To achieve this purpose, the CT uses the attention that X-rays undergo through this object with the information, the inner part of the object is reconstructed, that is to say the CT is an inverse problem. In this article uses the Fourier transform for the reconstruction of the internal part, for it is directly part of a continuous model, representing the density at the point (x, y) of a section, with a function p = p(x, y); and even though p is not required to be continuous, the Fourier method is more efficient and a better, more regular result is obtained p.

This article conducts a systematic review to analyze the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the transformation of judicial processes, following the guidelines of the PRISMA methodology. The main objective is to assess how AI contributes to efficiency, accuracy and accessibility in the judicial field, identifying both its benefits and associated ethical challenges. Studies published between 2020 and 2024 were collected and analyzed in databases such as Scopus and SCielo, using specific search equations and previously defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results highlight that AI can optimize judicial processes by automating routine tasks and predictive decision making, with examples of implementation in countries such as Estonia and Singapore. However, concerns about algorithmic biases and system transparency were also identified. It is concluded that, to ensure fair and e...

This article discusses the necessary linkages that must exist between the State and the dialogue. To propose that the State is the space for dialogue par excellence, the text relies on the ethical nature that is inherent in the constitution of the State. Furthermore, the State represents a strategic and forward-looking perspective for human life in the world that is expressed and founded on such important issues as equality, recognition and democracy. This reflection about the State aims to reposition the role of the State in the face of its actual difficulties and limitations at becoming a true space for dialogue. The article reviews the characteristics that any dialogue must have taking into account the characteristics of conflicts, and especially socio-environmental ones, and their transformation process. It insists on the role of openness, open communication and permanent negotiation...

The aviation sector has suffered the effects of the pandemic as the industry’s problems have become more evident due to operational constraints. The challenging and uncertain scenario has made the airline industry adapt its business to innovative alternatives based on efficient and digital strategies associated with the sector’s low productivity and the efficiency of each process. According to the reports, a series of failures were observed in the Maintenance Ad- ministrative Area, which is in charge of managing the work shifts of each technician in charge of aircraft maintenance, identifying that the most significant productivity problem in the area is based on the inefficient attention of requests to technical personnel. There- fore, a new model based on digital transformation was established by applying Business Process Management and Lean Manufactur- ing, in which the implementat...

Improvements in production systems that use the lean manufacturing approach known as “Lean” have the objective of eliminating or reducing waste or process inefficiencies (muda). This approach is increasingly adopted by different industrial sectors, including agriculture. Although Lean improvements are traditionally applied to existing processes from cultivation to distribution, opportunities to intervene in processing wastes (losses) are left aside. This article presents a methodological approach framed in five Lean principles, made up of six activities aimed at the design of new processes that make use of the losses generated by harvesting and agricultural transformation. The methodological approach is applied in a Colombian coffee farm where parchment coffee transformation processes are developed. A parallel losses composting process is designed that transforms defective, green, ov...

This paper shows that it is possible to estimate, from a single interferogram image, the error of the concave shape for an optically polished surface that will be used as a mirror in a reflecting telescope. In the Optics Laboratory of the PUCP, a Twyman-Green interferometer has been implemented; surface images with overlapping interference fringes known as interferograms are acquired. Algorithms based on Fourier transform allows the reconstruction of the surface shape and its deviation from ideal concave shape. Images were evaluated for different numbers of interference fringes in the same surface; in each case, a single image was necessary to determine surface error with the added advantage of not having contact with the surface.

Globalization has intensified competition in many markets. To remain competitive, the companies look for satisfying the needs of customers by meeting market requirements. In this context, Process Capability Indices (PCI) play a crucial role in assessing the quality of processes. In the case of non-normal data there are two general approaches based on transformations (Box-Cox and Johnson Transformation) and Percentiles (Pearson’s and Burr’s Distribution Systems). However, previous studies on the comparison of these methods show different conclusions, and thus arises the need to clarify the differences between these methods to implement a proper estimation of these indices. In this paper, a simulation study is made in order to compare the above methods and to propose an appropriate methodology for estimating the PCI in non-normal data. Furthermore, it is concluded that the best method ...

Drawing on Andrea Durbach’s work around post-conflict transformative gender justice, this paper asks if criminal justice for conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) can bring about transformative gender justice in Latin America. The paper offers a comparative analysis of two judicial cases of conflict-related rape: the Sepur Zarco case in Guatemala and the Manta y Vilca case in Peru. The paper argues that domestic courts can have important transformative effects on victim-survivors, their families and on criminal justice practices for CRSV, when international standards for evidentiary practice are adhered to within the specific local context of the case in question, as was the case of Sepur Zarco. If international standards of evidentiary practice are not considered, it is much less likely that such cases are transformative, in fact, the process might do harm, as in the case of Manta y...
