Objective. To evaluate the concurrent, predictive validity and reliability of an algorithm designed to determine the stage of change for HIV testing. Methods. A cross-sectional, correlational, two-stage study was conducted. The first, with 300 young university students, to evaluate the concurrent and predictive criterion validity with variables such as self-efficacy, knowledge about HIV testing and risk perception, measured with instruments that present Cronbach's a between ,73 and ,93. The second in 75 migrants, considered as at-risk population (n = 75), to assess reliability by means of a test-retest. Results. The predominant stages of change for HIV testing in both samples were precontemplation and contemplation. The stages of change correlated with two of the concurrent variables of self-efficacy and knowledge (p < ,01). The regression model was significant (F [3,296] = 53.68, p &...

The predictive philosophy contributes to improving productivity, reducing system failures and reducing unplanned downtime in a non-invasive way to the machine, for which the test bench is based on the German standard VDI2221, using mathematical models to select the materials and the design of the final prototype. The development of the project consists of applying vibration analysis, thermographic analysis and the quality of energy in which each measurement and the correlation that exist between them is shown; in addition, the inverse Fourier transform was used to demonstrate the amplitude and frequency ranges according to the theoretical equation proposed in the Matlab program, it can also be seen the higher order vibrations of 22.1 is located at the same critical point of the SP7 measurement with a temperature of 34.6 ° C and an emissivity of 0.95, likewise the Power quality measureme...

In the present study, the collection of machine learning algorithms of the Weka program was used to predict the bubble pressure of 36 oil samples, determining the accuracy of their results with the 10-fold cross-validation test method. Subsequently, for comparison purposes, the bubble pressures were calculated with the correlation generated in the work from which the samples were taken and their results were more precise than those obtained by the algorithms in 4 of the 7 performance metrics used. Due to this situation, and considering that the correlation was evaluated with the same data with which it was generated, the test method was changed to validation with the training data and the bubble pressures were predicted again. Other things being equal, machine learning was more accurate than correlation on all performance metrics.

Introduction: High-altitude environments predispose individuals to hypertensive disorders during pregnancy; however, the lack of laboratory facilities often limits accurate diagnosis. Objective: To determine the validity of the FullPIERS scale as a prognostic tool for severe preeclampsia in populations living at high altitudes. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional diagnostic validation study was conducted. Medical records from 284 pregnant women with preeclampsia treated at a high-altitude hospital were reviewed. The gold standard was a clinical diagnosis, and the FullPIERS scale aimed to estimate severity based on gestational age, chest pain, platelet count, creatinine levels, aspartate aminotransferase concentrations, and oxygen saturation, using a 30% risk threshold from the FullPIERS calculator. Results: In the high-altitude hospital, 60% of pregnant women with preeclampsia devel...

Objective: To compare the SatO2/FiO2 rate against PaO2/FiO2 rate for predicting mortality in COVID-19 patients in a high altitude hospital. Materials and methods: This is an observational, retrospective, and cross-sectional study, where sensitivity(S), specificity (Sp), positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) for both rates were compared. Results: The average age of COVID-19 patients was 62.2 ± 12.8 years. Three quarters (73.7 %) of all patients were male, most frequent comorbidities were diabetes mellitus (21.6 %), and high blood pressure (27.2 %). On the other hand, average SatO2/FiO2 rate was 234.9 ± 121.9, and PaO2/FiO2 was 169.7 ± 84, and 30.5 % of all patients died. A significant relationship between the aforementioned rates and mortality was evidenced. The cutoff point for SatO2/FiO2 was 114.4, with 43.1 % sensitivity, 91.2 % specificity, 68.3 % pos...

Preeclampsia is a major cause of maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide. The incidence of preeclampsia has increased in the past decade, which has been attributed to various predisposing factors. Despite decades of research into the condition, the ability of clinicians to predict it prior to the onset of symptoms has not improved significantly. No single screening test has gained widespread acceptance into clinical practice. Combinations of biochemical and ultrasonographic markers improve the performance of early prediction of preeclampsia. Screening with a combination of maternal risk factors, uterine artery Doppler, mean arterial pressure, maternal serum pregnancy associated plasma protein-A, and placental growth factor can identify about 95% of cases of early onset preeclampsia. Interestingly, intense research has unveiled the names of some important biomolecules which play an inf...

The purpose of the study was to describe the analytical bioevaluation of the predictive model of science in aquatic ecotoxicology. From the Sciencedirect website, 18 scientific reviews, 72 scientific articles, six encyclopedias and 32 book chapters corresponding to 11 scientific journals were analyzed. Two descriptors were proposed: 1st) of the field conditions which referred to the natural development of organisms and, 2nd) of the laboratory conditions where three types of tests were considered: A) potential of toxicity, B) of growth and, C) transformation. Although, the advantage of field conditions is the disadvantage in laboratory conditions, it is essential that bio-assessments are combined for ecosystem services to be sustainable in society. From various bioevaluations of field and laboratory conditions, data that have statistical significance and its argumentation constitute new p...
