Countries do plenty of effort in order to implement the objectives for sustainable development, aiming to achieve universal health coverage. However, access or chances for having high quality Clinical Pathology services are both necessary for supporting medical care systems if such objectives are to be achieved. This access is much more difficult to achieve in low- and medium- income countries. This paper presents an analysis of both the global and local situation in this respect. Four key barriers for delivering high quality and optimal services were identified: insufficient human resources or limited capability of the working force, inadequate education and training, inadequate infrastructure and equipment, and insufficient quality, regulations, and accreditation strategies.

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic, demyelinating, autoimmune, neuroinflammatory disease. Known as the most common cause of non-traumatic neurological disability in young adults. Ten per cent of patients with Multiple Sclerosis are diagnosed with the Primary Progressive form (PPMS) which, until the emergence of the anti-CD20 monoclonalantibody Ocrelizumab, had no specific therapy. The first case treated with Ocrelizumab in the Peruvian publichealthcare system is reported. The patient presented an acceptable tolerability and an adequate clinical response, as measured by the EDSS scale. Of note, under Peruvian legislation, Multiple Sclerosis is considered a rare diseaseand, therefore, requires an ad hoc evaluation for the authorization of public funding for specific therapies.

This article reconstructs the process that led to Chilean postal reforms (1840-1852) and argues that their impetus resulted from the convergence of structural conditions (political peace, financial stability, and commercial boom) and an intellectual context favorable to "material progress." Drawing on official sources and ministerial reports, it traces how denunciations of the administrative obsolescence of the postal service and pressures from public and private actors (ministers, Valparaíso merchants, the press) grew from the late 1830s onward. It also examines the legislative projects of 1849-1850 (Urízar, congressional committee, Varas) and the dispute between privatization (through public tender) and a state-run model. The article argues that the presidential agency of Manuel Montt favored the state option that culminated in the Postal Rates Law of 1852 and subsequent ordinances. ...

This paper analyzes the needs that drive the Uruguayan Judiciary to modernize, using new technological tools. As this article examines, this path is not without economic and legislative difficulties. Despite such obstacles, various management and support systems have been developed, which are listed and described in this work. In this sense, the Technology Division of the Judiciary has carried out a series of computer developments, exclusively with its own resources, in order to improve the service provided to society. Along this path, the commitment and acceptance of all individuals who perform tasks in the Judicial Branch is important to achieve the implementation of technological changes. The conclusion reached is that the search for unification of the different factors that influence technological change (committed officials, economic investment and legal regulation) becomes the nece...

The progressive system is the mode of execution of the prison sentence used in Argentina, through which it seeks to promote the “social reinsertion” of prison system inmates (since the constitutional criminal justice system reform in 1994). This is the central axis on which the institutional dynamics of the Federal Prison Service is structured, both as regards the spatiotemporal organisation of prisoners and workers, and also the relations between them inside the contemporary prison in the country. However, the national law enforcement regulatory process decided that all persons held permanently or temporarily in psychiatric prisons are excluded from this system. The article analyses some of the negative implications this exclusion has on both the development of prisons and the spaces destined for the treatment of mental health in federal prisons. This is based on dat...

The aim of this study was to compare the expected genetic progress of the selection indexes for Corriedale sheep based on performance and progeny tests. The study was carried out in the “Corpacancha” Production Unit of the SAIS Pachacútec, Junín, Peru, at an altitude of 4150 meters above sea level. A performance test was used based on bodyweight and fleece weight, and the mixed model to obtain the best unbiased linear predictor (BLUP), where the fixed effects were sex, type of parturition and a covariate age at weaning. The progeny was 118 females and 73 males. The bodyweight at first shearing was 65.86 ± 13.25 kg and the clean fleece weight of 5.99 ± 1.44 kg. The fertility rate was 75%, birth rate 109.7%, twin births 4.8% and 1.7 services/pregnancy. The bodyweight correlation with fleece weight was 0.47, suitable for the selection indices. The expected genetic progress of the pe...

Digital literacy represents a key challenge in closing the gaps in access to and use of technologies among Amazonian Indigenous, Andean, and Afro-Peruvian populations in Peru. This article analyzes the evolution of access to and use of digital technologies within these groups using data from the National Household Survey (ENAHO) between 2019 and 2024. Significant progress is evident, such as the increase in internet use and the expansion of mobile telephony; however, challenges to digital inclusion persist, linked to geographic, socioeconomic, cultural, and linguistic factors. The main initiatives implemented by the Peruvian State to promote more equitable access to information and public services are also reviewed. Finally, the findings reveal that populations whose mother tongue is Amazonian exhibit the lowest levels of digital connectivity, with internet access 35–40% lower than And...

Natural protected areas (NPAs) are spaces designated for the conservation of biodiversity and the maintenance of essential ecological processes. These areas, which include national parks, biological reserves and habitat management areas, play a crucial role in protecting flora, fauna and ecosystems from anthropogenic threats and provide various ecosystem services. However, despite these benefits, their implementation in Peru has not taken on great relevance. This article analyzes the evolution of legal coverage for environmental protection in the period 1990-2024, and highlights the advances and challenges in the implementation of conservation policies. The research corresponds to the descriptive type, with a documentary research approach. The results obtained subject the decades of 1990, 2000, 2010 and 2020 to a comparative analysis, in addition to analyzing the judgment of the state of...

The purpose of this article is to compare alternatives for the reuse of organic solid waste generated by catering services, this research will be carried out by verifying studies no older than 5 years to date, denoting their progress in each method. to be used, by comparing the methods and results of each study, in order to define the best reuse alternative, taking into account the cost benefit, the advantages, disadvantages and the feasibility of each study. Therefore, in the present investigation, the result was to opt for the reuse of composting, because it is a process that generates great profits at little cost, in general 80% of organic waste is reused, on the other hand, we have the use through the generation of energy by obtaining biogas, being a slightly more complicated process due to the higher incidence in cost/benefit of this reuse alternative. Therefore, the article conclud...

In the United States traditionally many children have gone unserved. This has been partly due to barriers in accessing services and the result of a fragmented and disorganized system of care. However, in the last two decades substantial progress has been made in adressing these problems. This article reviews the need for children's mental health services in the United States, and describes recent attempts to improve coordination and access to the children's mental health service system. The introduction of systems of care, the expansion of school-based services, and innovations in the provision of community services are discussed.
