The sleep as a physiological state, is essential for human life and the processes of sleep and learning are essential for the consolidation of memory. This document aims to present a brief review about sleep and its relationship with learning, from the perspective of neuroscience. The first part of the paper provides a description of the stages of sleep and which are the brain structures involved in controlling them. A brief description of the sleep process in neurophysiological activities (immune system, cardiovascular system and endocrine system) is presented. The learning is related to the changes that occur in the individual at the neuronal, cognitive and behavioral level as a result of the exchange of experiences and stimuli, finally seeking the adaptation with their surroundings. Linked to learning is the memory, ability to acquire, retain, store and evoke these exchanges with the ...

The article presents the results of an investigation about the meanings that university students give to the learning that occurs in this context. We worked with a qualitative design in order to discover and deepen the dimensions involved in this learning, the definitions about it and the strategies put into play. The sample consisted of twenty-five students of the last year of careers taught at the Paraná Headquarters of the Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA). The focused interview was used. It included the technique of choosing objects that allows the construction of metaphors, in this case of university learning. Thus, the findings allow the notion of university learning to be expanded to fields not directly linked to the academic, cognitive or performance aspects, but to issues that specify the curricular and didactic, subjective, family, relational and teaching dimensions. In ad...

Science teaching encourages the development of scientifically literate students, i.e. students who know how to use the scientific knowledge learned in the classroom to make sound decisions in everyday life. This influences researchers to seek a break with “traditional” methodologies and promote the use of tools/methodologies that can help develop scientific literacy, such as Didactic Sequences. Through a systemic analysis of the literature, this article aims to understand how the theories of teaching and learning defended by Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky and Paulo Freire are references in the construction of Didactic Sequences aimed at promoting Scientific Literacy. The data collected shows that the Didactic Sequence is based on the theories of Piaget, Vygotsky and Freire.

The vertiginous advance of technology-mediated science has had an impact in one way or another on the different sectors that frame all human activity. Research in the world describes how technology has produced important changes in the conception of teaching and learning processes. Various investigations in both Latin America and Peru have shown that the implementation of resources based on technologies is effective in the learning process. The main purpose of the study was to describe the influence of the Virtual Classroom of Social Sciences (AVCCSS) program on the academic performance of students in regular basic education. The program was based on the use of the virtual classroom developed on the Canvas platform, with the b-learning modality, it was based on the theory of constructivism, a potential complement for the classroom. We worked from the perspective of the use of information...

In the present paper an analysis of the epistemological foundations on which the educational field has been founded since its origin until today is made, in order to understand in depth the current situation of educational research. To this end, a historical-epistemological study is carried out. This study seeks to uncover the justification that, in each moment and context, has founded the said field. This path shows that, at first, historicity (referred to the contextual, non-rational, non-scientific) was deliberately set aside to guarantee the development of a rational science. Later, and due to the persistence of certain epistemological problems, this historicity is understood as a value and becomes the disciplinary foundation. The work argues that the use of historicity as a criterion of justification (either to eliminate it or to use it) is not sufficient criterion to base the field...

This article presents an investigation developed in the context of initial teacher training in Natural Sciences, from a qualitative perspective, with the aim of identifying social representations related to teaching, learning, and scientific knowledge, in order to analyze and compare them. We worked with two cohorts of teacher students in the subject of pedagogical training. An evocation and hierarchization technique and a technique with images were used to identify the representations. The results show different representations in each cohort, with some common characteristics in relation to the subjects and specific scientific knowledge. They also show the need to encourage instances of reflection to help train teachers capable of overcoming their own limitations and who are critical of their own task.

The incorporation of Game-Based Learning has been promoted as a cornerstone of pedagogical innovation, yet important gaps persist regarding how teachers, especially in rural areas, understand and appropriate this strategy under conditions of scarcity. Guided by this overarching question, the study sought to understand, both theoretically and practically, how primary-school teachers at IE 70022-Collana (Puno - Peru) appropriate the strategy, using a qualitative phenomenological–interpretive approach. Five in-depth interviews were conducted with teachers who had more than twenty-five years of service, and a thematic analysis supported by qualitative coding was applied. Findings reveal: 1) a strong conviction that play is a prerequisite for meaningful learning and a cultural bond; 2) structural constraints (scarce materials, lack of time and weak institutional support) that compel creativ...

“The invisible is not what does not exist, but what we cannot observe." The objective of this research is to determine the impact of the invisible learning of Moravec and Cobo (2011) on the acquisition of the English language. To this end, the available scientific literature was reviewed, proceeding later to argue the benefits of invisible learning in learning English with technological tools. The emergence of new technologies requires that teachers act in an innovative way by applying teaching strategies that facilitate the educational achievement of the student, developing social, reflective and cognitive skills. Said learning is no longer only conceived as the incorporation of new grammatical structures, but with the learning of a new culture. From the trial, it was possible to conclude that invisible learning shows a relevant role when learning a foreign language due to its charact...

The aim of this study is to demonstrate that significant differences emerge when comparing the evaluation of teachers’ competences from the perspective of the students of the four specialized master’s programs at CENTRUM PUCP, Lima. The applied research was of a non-experimental design, employing comparative description and hypothetical-deductive and quantitative methods. The sample was composed of 143 students from four specialized master’s programs, chosen at random. The information was gathered through a survey, by means of a questionnaire containing 30 items associated with teacher competences. Using the Kruskal-Wallis Test, a meaningful inference was obtained (p-value <0.01) statistically demonstrating the general hypothesis. It can therefore be concluded that significant differences arise when comparing the evaluation of teachers’ competences from the perspective of the ...

Since the beginning, science activity has been conceived as a male-gender occupation. Despite the efforts to bring women into scientific research communities, there is still much to be done. In view of the foregoing, a study was conducted with the aim to identify, with a gender-based approach, the types of teaching and learning styles at the technological institutes in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. For that purpose, an instrument with closed-ended and multiple-choice items was applied to assess the teaching models used by teachers of those institutes. This exploratory, descriptive and ex post facto study covered 9 institutes and 396 students (55.8% men and 44.2% women) who were participating in a research project. Results showed that teachers, regardless of their gender, prioritize experiential learning through discovery, following the premises of meaningful learning and constructivism,...
