This paper considers the proposal, development and numerical simulation of a system that models the behavior of the treatment of HIV-1 using antiretrovirals. The system defined for three dependent variables of the variable t, denoted by X(t)=(x1 (t), x2 (t), x3 (t)) represent the amount of T Lymphocytes "Helpers" (CD4), number of Cytotoxic T Lymphocytes (CD8) Viral load and infection process of HIV-1 at any time t, respectively. The assembly consists of a Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations system whose existential domain represents time system evaluation process of infection and viral clearance in a patient with HIV-1. This set of states of Nonlinear Dynamic System, associated with the initial value condition is called Cauchy problem. There are few studies related to the solution of this system, found some of the study are reduced to two variables and others without obtaining the ...

Objective: To analyze the operational management of the infection control plan (ICP) for tuberculosis in hospital care settings in a city with a high burden of the disease. Methods. An analysis of operational management was conducted in 37 institutions providing health services in the city of Cali, by applying a tool to collect information on the implementation of administrative, environmental and respiratory protection control measures. Additionally, the program design evaluation was conducted. Results: Administrative control measures were not implemented in 65 % of the institutions, primarily due to the absence of written infection control plans and a lack of risk assessment. 70 % of institutions failed to comply with environmental measures, especially in the verification of air flows, while respiratory control was well implemented in 78. However, the absence of ft testing for N95 resp...

Objetive: To describe the prevention and control practices for the infection to SARS-COV2 in the Peruvian population. Material and Methods: Observational descriptive study. We evaluated a non-probabilistic sample of adult residents in some departments of Peru. Preventive practices were evaluated in people without a history of COVID-19 and control practices in people who had suffered it. Results: We evaluated 3630 Peruvians (mean age 25.4 ± 9.5), of that 3231 don't have a history of COVID-19 and 399 who had suffered it. The prevention and control practices that were realized often or always, with more frequencies, was the use of a mask when they go out home (97.9% vs 87.7), cover their nose or mouth when they sneeze (95.4% vs 89.9%), save the distance to other people in the street (91.4% vs 74.7%), wash their hands when they came home (92.5% vs 88.7%), and disinfect the objects and perso...

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an additional slow-evolving pandemic that precedes the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue when it ends. However, in countries such as Peru where there is high consumption and inadequate prescription of antibiotics, a more challenging future scenario can be expected. Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs (ASP) are multidisciplinary teams of professionals that aim to contain the emergence of multidrug-resistant organisms through strategies such as audit of antibiotic prescription or creating antibiotic treatment guidelines based on local AMR rates. The difficulty in the timely diagnosis of co-infections or superinfections in the clinical course of COVID-19 leads to inappropriate use of antibiotics, forcing ASP to adapt their strategies in this changing scenario. In Latin America, ASP not only has to promote behavior change in antibiotic prescribers but also ...

Objective: To assess the effectiveness and safety of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) prophylaxis for the prevention of SARS-CoV-2 infection in healthcare workers (HCW) on duty during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: A total of 68 HCWs met the eligibility criteria were randomly allocated to receive HCQ (n = 36) or not (n = 32). There were no significant differences between groups in respects to age, gender, or medical history. Eight participants met the primary efficacy endpoint of SAR-CoV-2 infection during the study period; there was no difference in incidence of SARS-CoV-2 infections between both study arms (HCQ: 5 vs Control: 3, p = 0.538). The relative risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the HCQ arm was 1.69 compared to the control group (95%CI 0.41–7.11, p = 0.463); due to poor participant accrual, the resulting statistical power of the primary efficacy outcome was 11.54%. No serious adverse ...

A prospective study of two groups of fifty patients each were conducted. The objective was to evaluate the use of antibiotics in vaginal hysterectomy for the prevention of vaginal infections dome. The selection was ramdomnizada forming independent samples under established criteria. The study group received an intravenous cephalothin sodium gram before entering the operating room and then two more doses at intervals of six hours. The control group received nothing. In analyzing the results, we see that there was not a single case of infection in both groups dome, both the study and control groups. Applying the test "T" statistical significance for studying the contrast of two independent samples, we can say that the administration of antibiotics is not necessary in these cases. The vaginal preparation in the pre-operative is fundamental.

50 cases of patients who had preterm labor is studied. Careful not to include cases where the cause of prematurity was evident (twins, polyhydramnios, hemorrhagic cases) were reported. Urine culture sample was taken by bladder catheterization in the first 48 hours postpartum. Parallel monitoring 50 cases of patients whose delivery was at term, and also was made urine culture is studied. It was obtained obvious differences in both groups. In the group studied was 20% positive urine cultures, against 10% in the control group. The predominant germ was E. coli. The perinatal mortality in the study group was 20%, ten times higher than the control group. It is recommended that urine cultures routinely performed in all cases of preterm labor.

The aim of the study was to describe social bioethics during the COVID-19 pandemic and their use or removal of masks after vaccination. Th e study was carried out in August 2021 where 97 people (45 men and 52 women) residing in the cities of Ica, Puno and Tacna (Peru) were selected through an intentional non-probabilistic sampling and for which they showed a second vaccine dose administered against COVID-19. Four age class intervals were established: I) 45-50, II) 51-55, III) 56-60, and IV) 61-65; these were diff erentiated by sex and in which they were asked the following: “If you are vaccinated, do you think you should use the mask? Yes __ No __”. “Do you wear a double mask on public roads or in public spaces? Yes __ No __”. “Do you frequently eat food in public places with your family? Yes __ No __”. Likewise, the relationship between wearing and removing the mask by ...
