Gender: Incredibly, this word is very fashionable in all environments and spaces, and it is said that the concept of gender can be found in each of our daily actions; moreover, it was present since the beginning of humanity. But the difficulties for its understanding and implementation begin when we put the word equity before it, that is, "gender equity", which we define as complementary, equal opportunities, equal value of men and women, both united in the construction of a new world.

This doctoral thesis investigates the relationship between informality, gender, and financial development and inclusion through two complementary empirical studies. The first paper is based on international data, it explores the long-run and short-run dynamics between informality, financial development, and financial inclusion using a dynamic heterogeneous panel data model applied to 152 countries over the period 2004–2017. The results suggest that greater financial inclusion and development significantly reduce informality in the long run, particularly in developing countries, although the strength and significance of these effects vary across regions. The second paper focuses on Peru, where informality is persistent and tends to affect women more. Using data from the Peruvian National Household Survey (ENAHO) and classifying informal workers into type-S (structural) and type-N (non-s...

The present paper is an approach to the construction, development and dissemination of gender roles (male and female) from the publicity established in Lima. This self-critical look at the advertising profession rather than blame wishes to describe a reality often ignored or filtered by various factors. It also proposes ways to deal with this problem facing its principal actors: Advertising, customers and especially teachers and students from different universities and institutes that apparently do not regard this as an important part of the training provided to new generations favoring perpetuation of stereotypical gender roles. For this article we have resorted to bibliographic research, analysis of advertisements and interviews with professionals who can provide different and complementary perspectives in order to understand this reality, seek consensus and pathways to a new approach ...

Data on gender representation in food and beverage advertisements may allow for a better understanding of how the food industry is targeting different audiences based on gender. Nonetheless, scant research on food and beverage print advertising with a gender approach has been conducted. Therefore, we sought to assess the prevalence of gender focus in print advertisements found inside corner stores in two cities: Guatemala City, Guatemala, and Lima, Peru. Data description: We developed two complementary datasets as part of the study: (1) a dataset of digital photographs of 200 food and beverage print advertisements found in corner stores located near schools (100 ads per country selected according to criteria such as product type, image quality, and uniqueness); (2) a quantitative dataset with data of the content analysis of these photographs. We employed 19 variables to record the genera...

This article analyzes gender-segregated spaces in metro systems as a response to sexual harassment in public transport. Based on a comparative study structured across five dimensions (operational design, governance and enforcement, complementary measures, reported outcomes, and controversies), it reviews five international cases (Mexico City, Tokyo, Dubai, Cairo, and Rio de Janeiro) together with a baseline analysis for Lima, with the aim of identifying achievements, limitations, and transferability conditions. The findings show that women-only cars consistently increase users perceived safety and comfort, and, in high-demand contexts, may support longer and more continuous trips. However, their structural effectiveness is limited: harassment persists in micro-spaces of the journey (station entrances, platforms, transfer corridors), reporting rates remain low, and suboptimal operational ...

Supranational and national regulations have recognized the rights of all people in general, proscribing discrimination based on sex. In recent decades, the term “gender” has been introduced in order to protect the rights of women and eliminate violence against them. However, gender ideology does not lay its foundations in reality and neither does it serve its intended purpose. To achieve a life free of violence, we must begin by recognizing that all human beings are people, that dignity is an inherent quality of every human being and that, for this reason, we are all subjects of law, deserving of respect and treatment. according with our nature. Men and women share the same dignity, but at the same time we are different, which makes us complementary. Differences, taking into account the dignity and freedom of each one, are wealth, they are not the cause of violence.

Gender based violence is related to the power imbalance between men and women that is present, to a greater or lesser degree, in all societies. It was almost recently recognized as a human rights problem by the United Nations. It includes emotional, physical and sexual violence. Sexual violence is the extreme form of gender violence, usually accompanied by the other types of violence. Its prevalence is difficult to determine, but it most probably affects at least one third of women sometime in their life. It has multiple consequences over women’s physical and gynecological health, which greatly depends on the quality of care the woman received immediately after the assault. Unfortunately, most emergency health services, including those in women’s hospitals, are rarely prepared to provide correct care to these women. Care should be multidisciplinary and involves crisis treatment, me...

This article analyzes Netflix's strategic identification with the notion of diversity, both off-screen and on-screen. Drawing on its public communications, on industry reports and on the literature about the subject, it focuses on two dimensions: the relationship between diversity, inclusion, company policy and Netflix’s brand identity, emphasizing workforce diversity (off-screen); and the diversity of its content based on the broad category of Netflix Originals, considering diversity of place, gender and ethnicity or “race” (on-screen). Thus, the text critically reveals multiple complementary strategies, increasingly employed globally to build a brand identity linked to diversity as a positive value that is reclaimed in the 21st century. Through this brand identification with diversity, Netflix seeks to distinguish itself from both the traditional audiovisual industry and from its...

Elinor Ostrom, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2009, left an invaluable legacy to the world through her proposal in Governing the commons (1990). Although there are more recognitions and applications, this literature review will show that there are also comments adverse to Ostrom's proposal, such as those presented by Verrax (2019), on the criticism of Hardin for The Tragedy of Commons (1968), and Lapniewska (2016), which is supported by Revollo-Fernández et al. (2016) regarding the importance of gender and its absence in Ostrom's work. Despite criticism, Ostrom's legacy is presented in many fields such as sustainability, complementary currency systems, blockchain technologies, international business, economic development, innovation systems, social entrepreneurship, macromarketing, ethical research, and in various countries around the world. world. Additionally, Ostrom's fram...

This article and the previous «Convergence and divergence between the local and regional state around solid waste management. An unresolved problem in the Sacred Valley» from Teresa Tupayachi are published as complementary accounts on the management of solid waste in the Vilcanota Valley in Cusco. Penelope Harvey and Teresa Tupayachi worked together on this theme. The present article explores how discontinuities across diverse instances of the state are experienced and understood. Drawing from an ethnographic study of the Vilcanota Valley in Cusco, the article looks at the material politics of waste disposal in neoliberal times. Faced with the problem of how to dispose of solid waste, people from Cusco experience a lack of institutional responsibility and call for a stronger state presence. The article describes the efforts by technical experts to design integrated waste management sys...

The study explored the relationship between perceived stigma and coping strategies used in adults with HIV/AIDS. This was a cross-sectional correlational project. A total of 350 patients from a public hospital in Lima of different genders (M: 254, F: 92, NB: 4) aged between 18 and 55 years (M: 37, SD= 10.86), and, with treatment times between 6 months and 30 years, voluntarily participated. A sociodemographic form, the HIV Stigma Scale to explore stigma and the COPE questionnaire to measure coping were applied. Heterosexual sexual orientation was the majority of the cases (54 %), more than 30 % considered themselves as the main social support and 37.4% had university education. Stigma was high (28.6 %) to moderate (71.4 %), 50 % of the cases were concerned about their diagnosis being revealed, and the most used coping strategy was problem-focused (65.1 %).
