The research involved two stages: In the first one, screening methodology was performed toevaluate the effect of the most significant factors: temperature, time and ratio raw material:solvent (MP: S) on the extraction of fructooligosaccharides (FOS) and reducing sugars (AR)from yacon flour. A factorial arrangement 2K were used; the levels for the factors were: time5-40 minutes; ratio MP: S 1:10-1:70 g / ml; temperature 30-90 ° C; responses variables wereextraction yield of FOS and AR. The results indicated that only the factor ratio MP: S hadsignificant effect on the extraction of FOS and AR (p-value <0.05). In the next stage, manylevels of ratio MP: S (1:10 to 1: 100 g / ml) were evaluated holding for time 5 minutes andtemperature at 30°C. Maximum extraction and greatest recovery of the extract was obtainedwith ratio MP:S 1:30. Finally, two kinetic models were used to describe the ...

In this paper we have studied the effect of the moisture from the eucalyptus leaf and the time of extraction on the yield of essential oil and the production cost. We took into account parameters such as steam temperature, pressure extraction, porous bed, steam flow and temperature of condensation. A Central Composite Rotational Design was used to evaluate optimum extraction areas and the cost that would follow, searching always to increase yields and reduce costs. According to this design, the extraction with the lowest production costs (0.57 Nuevos Soles by mL of essential oil) is reached when the leaves have moisture between 25 and 30% and are extracted with times between 98 and 126 min.

The Soxhlet method in extracting plasticizers from PVC compounds presents various areas for improvement, such as the amount of solvent used, the time required in the process, and its costs. This study proposes replacing the Soxhlet method with the ultrasound-assisted method to reduce the time, costs, and amount of solvent used in plasticizer extraction. It also proposes using solvent recovered from previous extractions to reduce costs further. The study involved experimentation with three different grades of PVC compounds (medical, cable, and profile) to compare the recovery of plasticizers by the Soxhlet and the ultrasound-assisted methods. The plasticizers obtained were analyzed using gas chromatography, gas chromatography coupled with mass spectroscopy, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy to evaluate the results of each extraction method as compared to reference co...

Since 2015, the demand and price of lithium have increased considerably due to its central role in battery production. Latin America has around 60% of the world's lithium reserves. The deposits are mainly located in the Puna region shared by Chile, Bolivia, Peru and Argentina. The possibility of extracting lithium from salt flats is promoted by governments and companies as an undeniable opportunity. At the same time, lithium mining is presented as a key to solving the climate crisis, given the need to reduce greenhouse gases and favor the energy transition. In contrast, lithium extraction is considered by local communities as pernicious because the extraction involves the loss of large volumes of water, since lithium is dissolved in the salt flats and a large amount of fresh water is used during the process and because of the chemical contamination it generates. This paper will address t...

This research seeks to generate a new alternative to obtain oil, restoring and valuing oil native plants that occur in our raw material used for the research work, I collect Shanao district, province of Lamas for the extraction of oil hydraulic pressing method is used. The extraction process was agreed following cleaning flow and selection preparation, husking, grinding, drying and pressing the found optimum parameters, for the best performance of extraction are: fine grinding with particle size of 2.19 mm, humedád 6% and 60° c/1 drying time. Raw material, determined biometric measurements and the proximal chemical analysis, found that Sacha inchic almond contains 51% oil and 27% being one of the fundamentals of this oil, its high unsaturated, features since it contains 52% of linolenic acid, which makes it...

The coffee industry, coffee shops and restaurants are in constant expansion and growth. Consequently, large amounts of Spent Coffee Grounds (SCG) are generated, which are solid coffee residues obtained after the ground coffee leaching process. This residue can be reused because of its compounds as phenolics. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of extraction time (30-90 min) assisted by ultrasound (45kHz and 50 W), liquid-solid ratio (10-40 ml/g) and ethanol concentration (20-93.8%) in the total phenolic compounds (CFT) content expressed as mg gallic acid/g SCG dry matter. Surface response methodology (MSR) was used, as an efficient technique that minimizes the number of experiments, through the central rotational compound design (DCCR) to determine the effect of these 3 factors and to perform the optimization of the extraction process conditions of total phenoli...

This paper presents an investigation of the extraction of essential oils by steam distillation. The process is analyzed and a model is developed for the extraction of essential oil of eucalyptus in pilot scale with a steam flow of 5.73 g / min. According to the model Dunckhorst-Houghton, which considers the effect of axial dispersion, and the use of optimization procedures to establish the model parameters, excellent agreement was obtained between the amount of oil extracted theoretical and experimental.

This work was developed in order to implement the PINCH technology integration batch process for carminic acid. The method used consisted of the application of the concepts of bottle necks total process (OPB) together with part-time models (TAM) and time fractionated! (TSM). The drying operation is identified as the rate limiting step of the process identifying it as an OPB plant capacity. The extraction yield was 95% w / p carminic acid with an energy savings of approximately 60% of the conventional requirement.
