This article analyzes the impact of the instructional redesign of a course aimed at developing written communication skills, implemented in 2018 at a private university in Lima, Peru. The research is framed within the socio-discursive interactionism (SDI) model, which views writing as a situated practice shaped by specific communicative contexts. It also draws on the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) approach, which promotes writing as a transversal tool across all disciplines, emphasizing its cognitive (Writing to Learn), critical (Writing to Engage), and rhetorical (Writing in the Disciplines) dimensions. The study focused on the rhetorical component, adopting a quasi-experimental design with pre- and post-intervention assessments in two groups: experimental and control. The results show a moderate impact on the development of rhetorical competence, reflected in a greater alignment o...

This paper examines internal investigations as an essential component of prevention models established under Law 30424 in Peru. Since the implementation of this regulation in 2017, supplemented by its 2019 decree, legal entities are required to adopt compliance programs or prevention models, known as Criminal Compliance, to mitigate the risks of criminal offenses. A key element of these models is the whistleblowing procedure, which includes internal investigations designed to identify crime indicators and ensure the validity of results. The study underscores the need to distinguish internal investigations from criminal investigations. The former are private, voluntary, and focused on organizational learning, while the latter are public, mandatory, and conducted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office with punitive and legal liability objectives. A paradigm shift is proposed to view internal ...

The study of phraseology is an advanced direction of teaching methods of Russian as a foreign language. Any non-native speaker embarking on a study of Russian is faced with the problems of understanding the phraseological units that the Russian language is replete with. Language learners experience particular difficulties when using phraseological units with the color designation component “black” in a real-life communicative situation. The problem of understanding the phraseology of the Russian language is associated with the fact that representatives of different countries have knowledge of the phraseology of their native language that encompasses regional geography, linguoculturological, national concepts, which often do not coincide with similar phenomena in the Russian environment. This paper scientifically substantiates the methodological system for working with phraseological ...

Structures in chemical and petrochemical facilities are often located in areas that may be subjected to blast loading. Occupied buildings typically have non-structural components located along the interior of the exterior walls and roof such as windows, doors, wall mounted AC units, lights, furniture, storage racks, hanging equipment, and loose articles. Occupants of buildings subjected to accidental explosions may be injured from glass fragments and interior non-structural items becoming projectiles and impacting building occupants. As a pressure wave from a blast impacts the exterior of a building, the wall and roof components are rapidly accelerated inward. Equipment or contents mounted on or in contact with the exterior façade are also accelerated and may be dislodged and projected as debris. Items anchored to the ceiling structure can be thrown vertically from the initial forward d...

In countries with high seismicity, such as Peru, Chile, and Colombia, the mid- to high-rise buildings typically use reinforced concrete (RC) wall systems, which have generally demonstrated adequate seismic performance. However, cases such as the collapse of the Alto Río building during the 2010 Chile earthquake and severe damage reported in other wallstructured buildings reveal that, under certain conditions, these systems may be vulnerable. Modern RC wall buildings in Peru have not yet been subjected to a severe earthquake, so it is uncertain whether current design procedures established in Peruvian standards are adequate to provide sufficient safety or to achieve a repairable state after a major earthquake. This thesis employs analytical methods to evaluate the performance and expected losses of modern Peruvian RC wall buildings. First, it examines the design and detailing procedures ...

The molecular design based on the imitation of the complex structures and processes found in nature is known as bioinspired Chemistry or biomimetic Chemistry. An approach used in this discipline is the preparation of macrocyclic pseudopeptidic compounds from natural amino acids and abiotic components. Proteins exist in nature with very specific properties encoded by the diverse structural and conformational information of the amino acids side chains. The use of this information is a key factor in the design of pseudopeptides with well-defined properties. Therefore, a suitable structural design to obtain the desired functionality relies on the appropriate choice of structural components, natural and abiotic.

The research is divided into two articles, presenting a bioenergy territorial planning proposal for LATAM. The first part focuses on an urban circular economy (CE) model using household organic municipal waste based on source separation. The second part is related to a proposal for designing internal combustion engines for renewable and alternative gaseous fuels. This paper quantifies the bioenergy potential that could be generated for LATAM by using national population censuses-based on scientific formulation and AI-powered databases to estimate the amount of biofertilizers, biogas, and green hydrogen that can be obtained according to the proposed CE model. The sustainability of the CE model is analyzed through a thermo-economic assessment, social impact, and environmental impact, with carbon footprint measurement using a standardized calculator. Additional considerations, risk analysis...

Methylmercury (MeHg+) is a mercury species that is very toxic for humans, and its monitoring and sorption from environmental samples of water are a public health concern. In this work, a combination of theory and experiment was used to rationally synthesize an ion-imprinted polymer (IIP) with the aim of the extraction of MeHg+ from samples of water. Interactions among MeHg+ and possible reaction components in the pre-polymerization stage were studied by computational simulation using density functional theory. Accordingly, 2-mercaptobenzimidazole (MBI) and 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT), acrylic acid (AA) and ethanol were predicted as excellent sulfhydryl ligands, a functional monomer and porogenic solvent, respectively. Characterization studies by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) revealed the obtention of porous materials with specific surface areas...
