Objective. was to determine the quality of removable partial denture (RP) design in working models performed in Huánuco as of 2017 according to the years of experience of the professionals. Methods. This is a descriptive level, cross-sectional, basic and prospective study. Under a quantitative approach, 280 working models for the fabrication of removable partial dentures were included in the study. Samples were collected in dental laboratories in the city of Huánuco. The components of the PPR design were observed for each sample. Descriptive statistics were applied. Results. 73 (91.3 %) did not carry out the shipping order (instructions from the dental professional about the design that the PPR should have), delegating the choice of the design to the dental laboratory technician and in a lower percentage did the instructions for the elaboration of the PPR 7 (8.8 %), 51 working models w...

Objective. To determine the antimycotic and antibacterial effect of Psidium guajava L., at 50 % and 90 % on Candida albicans and Streptococcus mutans. Methods. In vitro experimental study where 32 units of analysis were included (Petri dishes with strains of Candida albicans or Streptococcus mutans of which 16 samples corresponded to the four study groups of the Candida albicans strain and 16 samples for the four groups of the strains of Streptococcus mutans, the positive control group (2 % Chlorhexidine or Nystatin 100,000 IU) and the negative control group (distilled water). Antifungal and antibacterial effect was determined by quantifying the diameter of inhibition halo. For analysis of the data, Tukey test was used in ANOVA. Results. Psidium guajava L. 90 % had a greater diameter of formation of the halo of mean inhibition 14.40 ± 2.06 mm compared to Streptococcus mutans and a mea...

Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), is caused by coronavirus (SARSCoV-2). It uses the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 receptor (ACE2) to invade human bodies. In December 2019, an unprecedented outbreak of pneumonia of unknown etiology emerged in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China. The outbreak was reported to the WHO on December 31, 2019, who on February 11 named it COVID-19. Latin America was no exception to thispublic health problem. On February 25, 2020, the Brazilian Department of Health confrmed the frst confrmed case of a 61-year-old Brazilian man. Currently, despite rigorous global containment and quarantine efforts, the incidence of COVID-19 continues to rise, with 3,435,894 laboratory confrmed cases and more than 239,000 deaths worldwide. In response to this global outbreak, we will conduct an epidemiology review regarding Latin American.

The main aim of the study was to determine the quality of the design of Removable Partial Dentures in 2017 Huánuco working models based on the years of experience of the professionals. Descriptive study, basic and prospective transversal type. With a quantitative approach, 280 working models for the preparation of removable partial dentures were included in the study. Samples were collected in the dental laboratories of the city of Huánuco. The components of the RPD design were observed at each sample. Descriptive statistics were applied. The results found 73 (91.3 %) did not make a system of design (instructions from the dental professional about the design that the RPD should have) delegating the design choice to the dental laboratory technician and a smaller percentage followed the instructions for the elaboration of the RPD 7 (8.8 %), from which 51 (63.8 %) were superior dent...

Resultados: El promedio del efecto an...

Objective. To evaluate the effect of Heliocarpus americanus (Palo de Goma) as an adhesive for prosthetics. Methods. Experimental, prospective, cross-sectional study. Sample size was calculated by the proportions comparison formula for independent groups, 32 subjects being included in two groups of: 16 patients for the experimental group (EG) "palo de goma" (Heliocarpus americanus), and 16 patients for the control group (CG) "Corega adhesive cream". To evaluate the effect of the adhesive, the taxonomic classification of the bark, phytochemical analysis, and infrared spectrophotometry were first carried out at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, as well as the elaboration of the adhesive gel. Eight hours after the application of the adhesive gel, the stability and retention were measured using the Woelfel method, as well as the degree of acceptability according to the Hedonic scale. ...

Objective. To determine the anti-inflammatory effectiveness of eugenol against croton lechleri in the treatment of recurrent aphthous stomatitis. Methods. This is an experimental study where 60 samples were included, divided into three study groups (G.E): G.E. 1 (croton lechleri), with 20 subjects; G.E. 2 (eugenol), with 20 subjects; and the control group (G.C), with 20 other subjects. The clinical characteristics, pain, erythema, healing time were evaluated; as well as the count of leukocytes and C-reactive protein, before and two days after the application of the treatment. The Student t-test, the Kruskal-Wallis test and the Mann-Whitney U test were used. Results. Minor canker sores were more frequent, with 93.3 %; the round shape predominated in the subjects studied, with 63.3 %; with 28.3 % in several locations; followed by the tongue, with 25 %, and the labial mucosa, with 16.7 %. Objective. To evaluate the effect of Allium sativum (garlic), Citrus limon (lemon) and Carica papaya (papaya) extracts in the treatment of intestinal parasitosis. Methods. Experimental, prospective, cross-sectional study. The sample size was calculated by non-probabilistic purposive sampling. To evaluate the effect of the extract, the experimental antiparasitic extract based on Allium sativum (garlic), Citrus limon (lemon) and Carica papaya (papaya) was frst developed; it was administered every 12 hours for fve days; and the sample (feces) was collected for parasitological analysis. The samples for data analysis were subjected to the McNemar nonparametric test and Fisher’s exact test. Results. The statistical analysis showed a signifcant difference (p < 0.05) between before and after administering the experimental antiparasitic extract, both in protozoa (Giardia lamblia) and helm...
