This article displays the main foundations and findings of a research on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in legal English courses at Universidad Santo Tomás in Villavicencio (Colombia), intended to provide an answer to the following question: What is the impact of fostering Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) within legal English classes? The study was a descriptive longitudinal mixed methods approach research developed over two years with 56 law students with an age range between 21 and 23 years that delved into three issues, namely, students’ perceptions concerning legal English classes, after two years of participating in lessons designed under Bloom’s taxonomy; students’ insights regarding HOTS and their influence on learning a foreign language and on their future performance as lawyers, and the identification and analysis of strengths and weaknesses of the methodology imp...

Ello llevó a introducir suces...

In Peru, there are limitations to develop and imple-ment a conventional system costs, through which the elements of production costs attributable to a lot of processed products or services are identified, because in companies is not applied regularly and permanent general management principles, including: Organiza-tion and Control, which adds to the high cost of labor and tax formalities. Changing the mindset of managers of MSEs to create the conditions to establish optimal cost system is a slow-acting and persistent work. The only way is that they perceive their actual utility and contribute to the generation of selective yield processed products or class of services and to optimize the management of resources. The challenge for the public accountant is to admi-nister the disorganization by organizing the buildup, with distribution and application of production cost, depending on the co...

In this paper we study hypersurfaces in R4 parametrized by lines of curvature with three distinct principal curvatures and with Laplace invariants mji = mki = 0; mjik 6= 0 for i; j; k distinct fixed indices. We characterize locally a generic family of such hypersurfaces in terms of the principal curvatures and three vector valued functions of one variable, this family includes a classe of Dupin hypersurfaces. Moreover, weshow that these vector valued functions are invariant under inversions and homotheties.

This article deals with processes of accumulation of advantages and disadvantages in trajectories of social mobility from the working class, taking into account gender. In order to investigate how working-class trajectories in Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area are shaped by gender in terms of accumulation of (dis) advantages, we made biographical interviews to individuals with different social backgrounds within the working class. Families with more stable situations were able to transmit better conditions for spirals of accumulation of advantages to take place. Among them, some men were able to take full advantage of them, while in women the obstacles to taking advantage were more recurrent.

Hyperdivergent Skeletal Class II malocclusion is one of the most difficult to treat due to the different components involved in this type of malocclusion, whether due to maxillary or mandibular involvement or both. The objective of this review is to update the knowledge on how the occlusal plane influences the anticlockwise rotation of the mandible, which is a key point in the successful treatment of hyperdivergent skeletal Class II malocclusion due to mandibular retrusion. Two different approaches are also presented in the management of the occlusal plane and therefore of the vertical dimension in this type of patient; the first emphasizes molar intrusion as a vertical control measure to avoid a mandibular clockwise rotation and the other bases the treatment on molar extrusion increasing the postero-superior vertical dimension which could bring the mandible to a more advanced, physiol...

Introduction: Class II sagittal anomalies have a prevalence of between 18-32% of the population. To resolve this type of malocclusion, various therapies have been proposed, some of which involve functional orthodontic or orthopedic appliances. However, it is still a matter of discussion whether the treatments should be started at an early age in patients, or if there are adverse effects that could harm structures of the stomatognathic system. Objective: To analyze the results obtained from early treatment in patients with Class II sagittal malocclusion through a literature review. Materials and methods: An advanced search with terms and connectors was carried out in the Medline via Pubmed and Science Direct databases. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied for the definitive selection. Results: Through this search, a total of 5909 articles were collected, of which 23 were consider...

A predator-prey model of Gause type is an extension of the classical Lotka-Volterra predator-prey model. In this work, we study a predator-prey model of Gause type, where the prey growth rate is subject to an Allee effect and the action of the predator over the prey is given by a square-root functional response, which is non-differentiable at the y-axis. This kind of functional response appropriately models systems in which the prey have a strong herd structure, as the predators mostly interact with the prey on the boundary of the herd. Because of the square root term in the functional response, studying the behavior of the solutions near the origin is more subtle and interesting than other standard models. Our study is divided into two parts: the local classification of the equilibrium points, and the behavior of the solutions in certain invariant set when the model has a strong Allee ef...

This study defines and characterizes etno-racial self-identification patterns of the Peruvianpopulation employing the Encuesta Nacional de Hogares (Enaho) 2012. For this purpose, we have employed a module with questions recently added to this survey, in order to approach empirically to the notion of identity, combining the dimensions of native language, self-acknowledgment and the notion of indigenous population. The results are based on a latent classes analysis employing, at the same time, the information in this questions in order to identify four possible etnoracial identities. These identities are intertwined in the self-acknowledgment process with certain ancestors and customs, and also the one based on language. With the methodology and the data collected, we haven’t found evidence that point that ethnic identities are multiple and fluent. The ethnic identit...

The purpose of this article is to study the existence of weak solutions for a class of nonlinear nonlocal Dirichlet parabolic problem with p(x)-Laplacian-like operators with a convection term. We apply degree theory to operators of the type T + S + C, where T is maximal monotone, S is bounded pseudomonotone, and C is compact with D(T) ⊆ D(C) and satisfies a sublinearity condition, to get our result within the context of Sobolev spaces with variable exponents.

This paper presents the phenomenon of the private universities that have emerged in our country during the nineties. This increase of alternatives to access to higher education has generated a sense of significant progress in terms of social mobility opportunities for middle class youth. However, we point that this quantitative increase has caused rather a very strong professional market segmentation. That is, it has not reduced educational gaps; on the contrary, it has probably increased them. In search of items that hold this idea, we propose to develop a profile of the young people attending the Private University César Vallejo, based on a comparison of some aspects about supply and demand.

The article is concerned with educating the concepts “proper name * toponym + anthroponym” linguocultural category and summarizing the analysis with regard to cognitive perception of Nakh-Dagestanian languages. If we consider the interpretation of the terms “proper name * toponym + anthroponym” from viewpoint of cognitive perception, then the world picture as a linguocultural category actualizes the concept “nature ↔ toponym + color ↔ anthroponym + color”. This procedure for analyzing the terms in the conceptualization of the Nakh-Dagestanian languages makes it possible to adjust the interpretation of the Russian language “Concept “nature” ↔ color + toponym ↕ color + anthroponym”. An analysis of the material shows that the interpretation of the terms with the designation of the concept “nature” differs in hierarchical types of asymmetry of the Nakh-Dag...

The admission of poor students sponsored by the Beca 18 social program into Lima universities is a recent phenomenon that requires studies on their adjustment and academic performance. This research targeted Beca 18 students at USIL and compared their responses to a questionnaire on perceptions of classroom climate with those from regular students. Both were participating in the course on math analysis offered to engineering students. In the general context of positive perceptions of classroom climate, Beca 18 students slightly differed from regular students, showing more positive perceptions of professor’s behavior in terms of creation of a working environment, class pace, interest in the student, and promotion of cooperation and group work. A greater difference was observed in regard of the avoidance of a climate of competition, which should be studied in greater depth. On the other ...
