Se utilizaron exopolisacáridos (EPS) extraídos de cianobacterias de Nostoc commune para preparar sustratos celulares de baja adhesión para el crecimiento de células selectivas tumorales. Los sustratos fueron reforzados con bigotes de quitina y nanopartículas de almidón y caracterizados mediante espectroscopia infrarroja Fouriertransform, difracción de rayos X y pruebas de tracción. Se sembraron dos células independientes de anclaje, HeLa modificada por GFP y células THP-1 en las muestras para evaluar su interacción con los compuestos. Los resultados confirmaron la interacción de la superficie celular de los compuestos a base de EPS. Las propiedades mecánicas de estas películas se pueden adaptar controlando el tipo y la concentración del refuerzo, que se puede utilizar en el diseño de diferentes tipos de biomateriales.

Nanocrystalline solar cells were made by incorporation of cis-dithiocyanato-bis(2,2'-bipyridyl- 4,4'-dicarboxylate) ruthenium (I1) into sputter deposited titanium oxide films. After a pyridine treatment, it was possible 10 achieve a photoelectric conversion efficiency as high as 7% for a solar intensity of100W/m almost the same as for conventional nanocrystalline cells with colloidally prepared titanium oxide. Transmission electron microscopy indicated a parallel penniform microstructure, and secondary ion mass spectroscopy showed that the dye incorporation was uniform except in the bottom parts of the sputtered films where a decreased porosity seems to limit the penetration of the dye.

Some dye-sensitized solar cells were prepared using TiO2 modified with CuO (TiO2-CuO) like a working electrode. P25 commercial powder and small amounts of CuO powder were used in preparing the modified coating. The coating was deposited following doctor Blade method, on a conductive substrate SnO2:F, which was previously deposited on a TiO2 blocking layer by spray pyrolysis technique. For sensitization of the coating, a ruthenium complex, cis-bis (isothiocyanate) bis (2,2'bipiridil-4,4'dicarboxilato) ruthenium (II) ammonium bistetrabutil, also known as N719, was used. Microcells are a conceptual solution in areas with high traffic load. A hierarchical CDMA cellular system (microcells overlaid with umbrella macrocells), which shares the same frequency channel across the system (reuse pattern of one) and applies soft handoff between the cells, shown to have full connectivity between the microcells and the overlaying macrocells without capacity degradation. To keep the handoff rate in a two-tier cellular system at an acceptable level, users mobility shouldbe utilized in cell assignment. Objective: Patients with non-small cell lung cancer positive for the anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK+) gene mutation who also have mutations in the Kirsten rat sarcoma (KRAS) gene, such as KRAS G12C, are showing resistance to both anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene and KRAS inhibitors. Therefore, the interaction between ALK inhibitors and KRAS was analyzed to suggest a synergy between them. Materials and methods: The study performed homology modeling of the KRASwt, KRAS G12C and ALKwt structures. Subsequently, molecular dockings were carried out to determine the binding energy of ALK and KRAS inhibitors and to evaluate the possible interaction of ALK inhibitors with KRAS and the KRAS G12C structure. An assay based on the survival rates of UV-irradiated yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells was used to compare the photoprotectant capabilities of several commercial sunscreens with different sun protection factors (SPFs). Ten lotions with SPF values from 15 to 100 were tested using UVB and UVC irradiations. The results showed that all lotions with SPFs ≥50 exhibited similar photoprotectant capabilities. However, the lotions with SPF 15 and SPF 30 exhibited proportionally lower photoprotection levels. Likewise, the prices per gram of the analyzed lotions were compared, finding them widespread. Since the photoprotection levels of the lotions with SPF values above 50 were equivalent, it could be inferred that other factors are responsible for the variations in the prices, such as the recognition of the brand name, product presentation, marketing strategies, and others. Sensitized solar cells working electrodes of titania (TiO2) nanoparticles were modified with nickel oxide (NiO), which were synthesized from nickel chloride (NiCl2.6H2O). Las pilas de combustible microbianas (MFC) degradan simultáneamente sustratos orgánicos y generan electricidad de forma sostenible y ecológica. Aquí, construimos una MFC de 4 unidades y estudiamos la eficiencia de MFC en diferentes condiciones (pH, concentración de sustrato de residuos agrícolas de Vicia faba con bacterias exoelectrogénicas P. aeruginosa). Las bacterias se obtuvieron de efluentes industriales y se utilizaron para inocular las MFC. Las condiciones optimizadas (rendimiento máximo potencial de 802 mV), produciendo una densidad de potencia máxima de 283 mW m-2 a una concentración de sustrato de 6 g L-1 de residuos de V. faba y pH de 5,5, correspondiente a una densidad de corriente de 1255,93 mA m-2. Las MFC desarrolladas que usan desechos agrícolas de V. faba pueden ser usados en zonas rurales que tienen acceso limitado a electricidad.

Objective: To perform a literature review on oral squamous cell carcinoma, the presence of cancer stem cells; their association with the course of the disease and therapeutic applications. Methods: A search was performed in the PubMed database by entering the following algorithm: ((((neoplastic stem cells[MeSH Terms]) OR (Cancer stem cells[Text Word])) AND (Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Head and Neck[MeSH Terms])) AND (Oral squamous cell carcinoma[Text Word]), to find articles in english published between 2012 and 2022. Introduction: This article summarizes the clinical practice guidelines (CPG) for the management of patients with ALL in the Social Security of Peru (EsSalud). Objective: To provide clinical evidence-based recommendations for the evaluation and management of patients with ALL in EsSalud. Methods: A CPG for the diagnosis and management of patients with ALL in EsSalud was developed. To this end, a guideline development group (local GDG) was established, including medical specialists and methodologists. The local GDG formulated 8 clinical questions to be answered by this CPG. In this research we have designed electron donors D-π-A type containing two different π fragments to obtain anthrapyrrole (D-APR-A) and anthratiophene (D-ATF-A) derivatives, proposed for the use in organic bulk hetero-junction (BHJ) solar cells (OSCs). These derivatives were characterized by DFT and TD-DFT calculations. For all the electron donors the anchorage fragment was 2-methylenemalononitrile, while the chromophore fragment was spanned between diphenylamine, triphenylamine, thiophene. Background: Text messaging (SMS) interventions to improve HIV retention in care have shown mixed results, probably due to the diversity of features of their design and implementation. Methods: Using routinely collected data of the largest HIV program in Lima, we retrospectively evaluated the efficacy of an adapted single-arm, one-way SMS pilot intervention, intended to improve compliance with medical and ART pick-up appointments, by use of (i) SMS reminders before scheduled visits, (ii) a motivational SMS after scheduled visit, and (iii) phone calls after missed visits delivered for up to 9 months.
