Introduction: Dental caries and nutritional alterations are common in childhood, particularly in rural communities with limited access to health services. Objective: To determine the association between anthropometric indicators and the presence of dental caries in children aged 5 to 11 years from selected rural communities in the Peruvian Amazon. Methods: Cross-sectional study including 116 children from Llaylla, Pampa Hermosa, and Belén (Satipo, Junín). Body mass index for age (BMI/A), abdominal circumference for age (AC/A), and height for age (H/A) were assessed according to WHO and MINSA standards. The consumption of insects is a widespread practice among indigenous or native peoples of the Amazon. To assess the knowledge of the diversity of resources for entomophagy from the perspective of these peoples, testimonies or references about knowledge and feeding traditions of 100 people were collected in 37 localities in seven provinces of the department of San Martín in the basin of the Huallaga River. One cumulative species curve and the probability function of new species were estimated, then the probability of not finding a new species (99.5 %) to n100 was determined. Es una compañía originaria de Estados Unidos cuyo principal mercado es el del comercio electrónico y el de servicios de computación en la nube. Su sede principal se encuentra en la ciudad de Seattle, en Washington, y fue fundada en 1994 por Jeff Bezos. Se ha diseñado un plan estratégico para Amazon, para el período 2019-2023, basado en un análisis de la situación y entorno de la empresa, y se ha propuesto estrategias y planes de acción buscando el crecimiento, sostenibilidad y rentabilidad de la empresa.

El presente trabajo está enfocado en proponer un plan estratégico para la empresa Amazon en Estados Unidos con el objeto de resolver, tanto el problema de alta dependencia de los proveedores de la cadena logística de salida, así como el de mayores exigencias impositivas y regulatorias, hecho que viene provocando sobrecostos y encarecimiento de precios. Es así que a través de un análisis del entorno se realiza un diagnóstico de la situación actual con el propósito de detectar posibles amenazas y oportunidades que permitan afrontar con éxito su gestión.

One of the most serious problems is the lack of electricity, where reduced supply and frequent rationing reduce life quality and prevent the instalation of industries that could raise the value of renewable regional products. Consequently, the pursuit of better socioeconomic conditions promote the quick depletion of natural resources, which invariably results in the accelerated destruction of local ecosystems. Myrmecophyly is best documented among tropical epiphytes, and myrmecotrophy occurs especially among domatia-forming plants. We report the case of Polytaenium cajenense with "external" domatia and its use by the same symbiont ant as its host Cordia nodosa. This case is interpreted as the result of stochastic events and their relations to pre-existing adaptations of all species involved.

In 1941, Peruvian president Manuel Prado declared by official decree that the year 1942 be dedicated to the celebration of the Fourth Centenary of the Discovery of the Amazon River which he described as the “crowning achievement of our nationality integration”. In the aftermath of the Ecuadorian- Peruvian war of 1941 and in the context of the renewal of the rubber extraction, the fourth centenary proved to be unprecedented in the production of speeches on Peruvian identity and the Amazon. This work shows how an attempt was made to incorporate the Amazonia into the national identity by reviving and updating clichés about the jungle.

In 2003, the Andwa Nationality of Ecuador emerged as a distinct ethnic group, organized around an extinct language known as Katsakati. Since then, Andwa leaders have established linguistic reinsertion as the main political and cultural project of their communities. Drawing on the ethnographic method and critical analysis of interviews, this article explores how Andwa leaders deploy linguistic resources associated with Katsakati, along with other symbolic means, to assert their authenticity in front of other Indigenous actors who question their identity claims. The author interprets these efforts as acts of “linguistic citizenship,” as they show how linguistic resources, may be mobilized by historically marginalized peoples to claim agency and address inequalities in postcolonial contexts.

The impacts made in a sparse tropical forest with bale in the southern Amazon rainforest of Peru by various activities of extraction of natural resources, can be restored with the appropriate measures and procedures that must be initiated before deforestation, during activities and later with revegetation. To minimize the impacts and compensate for deforestation, it is necessary to design a strategy for the restoration of the tropical forest in the intervened area to achieve a recovery of the affected ecosystem and seek to give a direct benefit to the communities by supporting their self-sustainable development. The resulting indicators must be monitored for 3 years, with physical visits and an additional 10 years using remote technology.

This note discusses potential consequences of merging Isla Muyuy on the river Amazon which hosts an introduced (allochthonous) population of red-bellied tamarins, Saguinus labiatus (Callitrichidae), with the mainland, due to the Amazon’s riverine dynamics. It is recommended that an action plan be developed for this case, in order to avoid negative consequences for native populations of other species of tamarins and the ecosystem, in case Isla Muyuy joins the mainland.

Por decenas de años, a partir de la década del 60, la Amazonía fue presentada al mundo occidental como una región uniforme y monótona, desprovista de diversidad fisiográfica y ecológica. Un espacio sin gente y sin historia, posible objeto de cualquier manipulación a través de proyectos pensados a distancia, o sujeto impune de propuestas de obras faraónicas, vinculadas a un falso concepto de desarrollo. Tal vez se deben a eso lo sucesivos y casi siempre irreversibles fracasos de las políticas nacionales para la Amazonía.

The different wildlife uses were identified in nine rural localities (indigenous communities and settlers) located in the Colombian Amazonian Trapeze, from the application of 239 semi-structured interviews. The species most used and most hunting pressure through their food experiences, magic-religious, and customs are presented. In total, we identified 73 species of wildlife (35 of mammals, 23 of birds, 11 of reptilian, 2 of coleoptera and 1 of gastropod). The main use of wildlife is feeding, followed by medicinal use and as pets. Parts of animals are used for magic-religious activities, crafts, musical instruments, tools and costumes. It as final product develops a proposal of management of wildlife for the Amazonian trapezium.

A 63-year-old male patient from Tocache, a hamlet in the Department of San Martín, Perú. He began his illness 5 years prior to presentation, with conjunctival erythema in both eyes. This was followed by nasal secretion, skin lesions producing nasal deformity, as well as skin exfoliation and anesthesia of the fingers and feet. On the neurological examination, there was anesthesia involving hands and feet. Laboratory work revealed normocytic anemia, leukopenia, eosinophilia, and lymphopenia. There was presence of fecal Strongyloides stercoralis and Ascaris lumbricoides. Sinus X-ray revealed sinusitis, polyps, and keratitis. The electromyography was compatible with a sensory axonal polyneuropathy without motor involvement. Biopsies of the sural nerve and the affected musculature were performed, and positive acid-fast bacilli were identified.
