The problems in the present investigation were the reprocessing and claims for delay; causing low quality, which could be affecting the productivity. Therefore it was necessary to apply a methodology of process improvement, based on tools and statistical thinking, being the Six Sigma methodology and its phases (Define, measure, analyze, improve and Control) the best adapted to the case study. After applying the first three phases of this methodology and to be a non-experimental research is determined that the quality improved and productivity also increased, taking a positive economic impact.

The current approach of quality within organizations has changed from the securing level to the continuous improvement level. The NTP-ISO 9000:2001 Series of Norms can confirm this and show how, unlike its previous version, it emphasizes on a continuous improvement in process quality.

Systematic data quality issues may occur at various stages of the data generation process. They may affect large fractions of observational datasets and remain largely undetected with standard data quality control. This study investigates the effects of such undetected data quality issues on the results of climatological analyses. For this purpose, we quality controlled daily observations of manned weather stations from the Central Andean area with a standard and an enhanced approach. The climate variables analysed are minimum and maximum temperature and precipitation. About 40ĝ% of the observations are inappropriate for the calculation of monthly temperature means and precipitation sums due to data quality issues. These quality problems undetected with the standard quality control approach strongly affect climatological analyses, since they reduce the correlation coefficients of statio...

Globalization has intensified competition in many markets. To remain competitive, the companies look for satisfying the needs of customers by meeting market requirements. In this context, Process Capability Indices (PCI) play a crucial role in assessing the quality of processes. In the case of non-normal data there are two general approaches based on transformations (Box-Cox and Johnson Transformation) and Percentiles (Pearson’s and Burr’s Distribution Systems). However, previous studies on the comparison of these methods show different conclusions, and thus arises the need to clarify the differences between these methods to implement a proper estimation of these indices. In this paper, a simulation study is made in order to compare the above methods and to propose an appropriate methodology for estimating the PCI in non-normal data. Furthermore, it is concluded that the best method ...

The Ecuadorian Amazon region is permanently subject to deforestation processes and in parallel to the implementation of agricultural, and livestock management systems that can affect soil quality. This study assessed the effect of different land use types on soil quality using the Integrated Soil Quality Index (SQI) and minimum indicators. To do this, it considers representative soil samples, 4 types of land use, and a productive landscape in the province of Pastaza. The land use types evaluated were sugarcane (SC), agrosilvopastoral System (ASPS) silvopastoral timber system (SSTT), and secondary forest (SF). Land use type had significant effects on some soil properties and, therefore, on soil quality. The soil quality index was developed using BD, Ca+Mg/K, and SOM which had the highest weighting values, suggesting a higher contribution to the final SQI. The Soil...

This article presents a methodology that applies natural language processing and classification algorithms by using data mining techniques, and incorporating procedures for validation and verification of significance. This is conducted according to the analysis and selection of data and results based on quality statistical analysis, which guarantees the effectiveness percentage in knowledge construction. The analysis of computer incidents within an educational institution and a standardized database of historical computer incidents collected by the Service Desk area is used as case study. Such area is linked to all information technology processes and focuses on the support requirements for the performance of employee activities. As long as users’ requirements are not fulfilled in a timely manner, the impact of incidents may give rise to work problems at different levels, making it d...

This study proposes a model to improve identity registration service and correlates this service to the process quality and technology by means of structural equations using SPSS and AMOS. To reinforce the analysis of the information obtained from documents and records of the processes of identity registration, a 21 question survey was given to citizens coming to 1 of 16 regional headquarters, from which it was possible to demonstrate through structural equations, the existence of a strong relationship between the three variables: process quality, technology and service improvement.

This paper examines how implementing an Engineering Processes Laboratory (extrinsic factors) led to the non-dissatisfaction of Industrial Engineering students with the quality of teaching in said course. The study used the factor 10-SINEACE (National System of Evaluation, Accreditation and Certification of Educational Quality) and Herzberg’s theory to measure this impact. This measurement was performed on a representative sample of students of the Engineering Processes course through a laboratory test. Data was collected on the laboratory equipment requirements and students’ needs and was then analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U statistical test. The results showed that the teaching quality was “not dissatisfactory”, providing statistical evidence of the positive impact of the Engineering Process Laboratory.

Due to the importance of raising the academic performance of students in the regular basic education at the secondary level, the work presented in this paper is developed in the framework of Quality Systems for the Management of ICT. The model has developed an implementation guide that allows properly follow procedures for diagnosis and improvement activities. It is based on the Model Cycle Demming Continuous Improvement (PDCA) and the Self-Assessment Standard ISO 9004.2009 also comprehensively considers the processes and strategies of teaching in educational institutions and the educational model of the country. The planning and implementation of self-assessment will reveal what level of maturity is the institution with respect to the management of ICT, to finally act through improvement activities seeking to correct nonconformities to reach the level of maturity No. 1 or the next level...

With the increase of the university population, the individual psychological care service by psychologists in universities has been affected. Which has caused discomfort among students to access the psychological consulting service. Therefore, this project aims to implement a data analysis system to control the psychological variables that affect university students, improving attention to them through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). We present a system that allows the visualization of data related to the mental health of the students who developed a psychological test, with which the psychologist will be able to diagnose the student's mental state and determine if he or she requires personalized attention. Finally, with this research, we achieved an improvement in the speed of attention and quality of service for the student.

Concern for the quality of software-based systems has grown as software is integrated into every aspect of our lives. With the increase in the number of users and the data stored, more robust and secure databases are necessary. Quality control testing has progressed systematically from manual to automated applications. The Information Technology for Defense Company has the Center for Quality Standards and Security in charge of certifying and technically evaluating computer products, guaranteeing their quality. Currently the database review process in the SQLite manager is manual, making this process difficult, where there may be a margin of error due to the amount of checks that must be reviewed. The present work aims to develop a data architecture review component for the SQLite management server. For this, a study of a homologous database management system is carried out, the tools for...

The recent growing needs in the global food industry have been demanding an agile and resilient response to continue manufacturing products with the expected quality and food safety. A key element for this is the agility of the quality management of the supply chain, which has been achieved from using a correct quality management data digitization as well as its processing through business analytics and whose results are presented in this business case. A prerequisite to be met was the global standardization of supplier performance evaluation criteria, whose efforts were achieved through the coordination of quality management professionals from France, Italy, the United States, Mexico, Brazil and Chile. With the standardized performance evaluation criteria, the calculation mechanisms were defined, which were later developed by the IT teams through Business Analytics solutions and represe...

A strategic plan for innovation is an essential tool for any academic institution. This disruptive strategic plan for innovation maximizes the value and benefits for public and private institutions using the logical framework and the house of quality. With the logical framework of action, the input data for planning is clear, the rest of the activities of the house of quality (product design, process design and process control) are direct. The house of quality is the most effective technique to understand and even quantify the value of proposals. In addition, applied to a university, it ensures the obtaining of funds (money) that support and promote the development of innovation by prioritizing the voice of the customer (Innovate).
