Tourism is a social activity and as such generates impacts. This paper describes the changes in the cultural expressions of the Pampa Michi Native Community that were exposed to tourism between 1998 and 2019. The study is conducted from a qualitative approach and narrative design; for this purpose, semi-structured interviews and life histories were used as instruments for data collection. According to the results, the cultural expressions of the community have changed and now show new dances such as the pandilla or anaconda, as well as new designs and colors in their typical clothing, and new products and materials in their handicrafts. In Peru, there are fifty-one indigenous peoples recognized by the Peruvian State, one of which is the Kakataibo people, located between the Huanuco and Ucayali regions, which includes eight native Kakataibo communities, which have been threatened by third party invasions of their recognized and titled territories. However, the native community of Unipacuyacu still does not have a property title, fact that has produced more aggressive invasions of their territory, to the point that their indigenous leaders have been threatened and their community leader, Arbildo Meléndez, was murdered. The national and international norms have been reviewed, as well as the minimum standards of international law for indigenous peoples, where the Unipacuyacu case is analyzed in the light of these norms and the new public policies for the protection of human rights defenders.

For some fifteen years now, the increasingly frequent recourse to local archives has been one of the dominant characteristics of the new orientations of Peruvian historiography on the colonial era. Thus, the analyzes hitherto founded and structured essentially from repositories preserved in Lima or Seville were renewed, vivified and nuanced. Interestingly, in such a context, Cajamarca, which was in Spanish times the head of a district that was both large, populated and active —in fact the true capital of the northern Andes despite the colonial decision to establish on the coast, in Trujillo, the seat of the bishopric—does not seem to have sparked the investigations that it obviously deserves and is possible given the wealth of its remarkably classified and well-preserved departmental archive.

Introduction In recent years, the number of malaria cases in native communities from Condorcanqui, Amazonas has considerably increased. Plasmodium vivax malaria is endemic in the region and the re-introduction of P. falciparum was reported in 2019. Methods Here, we compiled and analyzed malaria and COVID-19 data reported by the Regional Direction of Health (DIRESA) during the 2020. Additionally, we performed an odds ratio analysis to evaluate significant associations between COVID-19 symptoms and previous malaria infections. Results In 2020, 1547 malaria (97% were P. vivax) and 5968 COVID-19 cases were reported. Furthermore, 96 patients got COVID-19 after getting a malaria infection. From these, 87 were symptomatic (90.6%), and mostly adults, ages 30 to 59 (62.3%). Also, we found that malaria previous infections represent a risk for the presence of symptoms such as fever, cough, throat p...

Conflicts involving peasant communities in mining areas are currently recurring in Peru. These have ancient antecedents, as is the case of the province of Yauli, where mining activity has been practiced since the 18th century. The objective of this work is to characterize the conflict relationships, starting with the arrival of mining activity in the area. This paper was carried out through case studies and the review of, mainly, documentation for land disputes, existing in the archives of the peasant communities of the province of Yauli. It is concluded that, in this mining province, during the 18th and 19th centuries, conflict relationships were configured that can be characterized —according to the actors involved and the identities resulting from the social phenomenon— as intra-communal, inter-communal and extra-communal. Likewise, socio-economic and ethnic differentiations, whic...

The precoloration technique of Walker was assayed in comparation with the classic Giemsa technique as a differential method to Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium malariae, in 208 blood samples of seven Ashaninka communities from Rio Tambo district, Satipo, Junin, Peru. Density of parasites by crossing system (+) and by parasites/mL were higher with precoloration of Walker. The prevalence of the parasites was to P. vivax (24,52%) and P. malariae (0,48%) of all samples assayed. Of the seven communities evaluated from Rio Tambo district: Puerto Ocopa, Unión Puerto Ashaninka and Shimavenzo communities showed the highest prevalence of infection with 42,42%, 27,27% y 27,27% respectively. The ages between 0 to 10 and 41-50 years showed the highest prevalence of infection with 31,30% and 40% respectively. The prevalence of infection was independent with the sex. The following essay aims to reflect on the practices of cultural health care in the native peoples. The diversity of values, beliefs, culturally different care practices are identified, in the diversity of environmental contexts, whose common characteristic is that such care is offered at different stages of the life cycle and is provided by close members of the family and the community, sharing all the knowledge that has been transmitted from generation to generation. Respect for the other requires the care offered by the nurse in a respectful, competent and accessible manner with the customs of the original peoples, coming from and practicing cultural diversity. In the same way that knowledge becomes prevailing through the learning of these cultural practices typical of each region, whose scenario or environmental context must be recognized in order to achieve cultural empathy in the o...
