A esthetic and functional rehabilitation is considered the maximum objective of any dental treatment, with a sustained and updated scientific base, always seeking a complete and comprehensive diagnosis, focused on presenting a treatment plan according to comprehensive needs of the patient, executed in a conscious way with an established multidisciplinary approach, with foundations based on constant dialogue between the professional, the patient and the dental technician. The objective of this report is to describe step by step the clinical stages of a multidisciplinary treatment which is based on prior diagnosis and planning; looking for the interaction of different specialties: periodontics, oral rehabilitation, aesthetic dentistry, occlusion, and an integral work with the dental laboratory, to achieve the stability of periodontal and dental tissues. Thus recovering the masticatory fu...

In recent decades, the advances in the management of functional mitral regurgitation (MR), makes knowledge of this disease extremely important to the clinical cardiologist, as it has an increasing prevalence in patients older than 50 years. The objective of this article is to review the pathophysiological bases of MR, in order to differentiate its mechanism, and to correlate them with the clinical, hemodynamic, and imaging findings that assess the severity of the disease. These data are relevant for the adequate selection of the patient and the opportune moment of the therapeutic interventions, which involves a multidisciplinary team in decision-making to achieve the greatest benefit within the treatment options of this pathology.

This case report highlights the dental rehabilitation of a patient with controlled diabetes mellitus, emphasizing the importance of oral health in overall well-being. The treatment involved periodontal therapy, fixed and removable prostheses, and precision attachments to restore aesthetics and masticatory function. Significant improvements in oral health, function, and quality of life were achieved, along with stabilization of periodontal health after five months of follow-up. The case underscores the role of proper masticatory function in preventing malnutrition, especially in diabetic patients, where poorly controlled oral health can exacerbate systemic conditions. An interdisciplinary approach is critical in addressing both functional and aesthetic needs, improving both oral and systemic health outcomes for diabetic patients.

Background: Heterotopic ossification (OH) is a complication described in patients with neurological damage. Case report: Patient who suffered a multiple trauma and traumatic brain injury (TBI), with fractures and neurological deficit secondary to TBI, who presented several heterotopic ossifications (OH) during his evolution that compromised the achievement of functional objectives. The main manifestation was swelling and limitation of the articular range (RA) for the extension of the left hip and knee, which kept the lower left limb (MI) flexed, preventing standing and walking. He was diagnosed as osteoma secondary to neurological trauma and received structured medical management, which included surgical intervention: “resection of the osteoma and tenotomy in hamstrings”, obtaining improvement of the joint range, chieving standing and walking with biomechanical support. Discussion: T...

Obesity is a global pandemic with serious consequences for public health, directly associatedwith vascular diseases, diabetes, dementia, osteoarthritis, increased mortality and functionaldisability. In older adults, the diagnosis and management of obesity require specific considerations that differ from approaches applied to younger populations. The relationship between agingand obesity is particularly complex and multifactorial, sharing common pathways associated with chronic disease and systemic inflammatory processes. Interventions should focus on the individual, carefully evaluating the impact on both functional and intrinsic capacities, while also considering the expected time to achieve therapeutic benefits. Beyond changes in body mass index and weight, therapeutic strategies should primarily aim to reduce fat mass while simultaneously improving muscle mass and functionality. This ...

Carious lesions have been the main cause of premature loss of dental pieces in the deciduous dentition, there are a number of treatments which are focused on the prevention of the dental organ, to restore the anatomy of the dental pieces or the exodontics thereof. The premature loss of individual or multiple way can trigger disorders such as: limitation in basic functions, decrease in the length of the dental arches, and reach the point of decreasing the child's self-esteem. The case of a 6-year-old male patient with mixed, asymptomatic dentition, with the diagnosis of dental caries, pulp pathology and dental position anomaly is presented. The following procedures were performed; Pulpectomies, simple restorations and exodontics, to culminate in the placement of a functional orthopedic device. Upon completion of the treatment, the objective was to preserve the dental structure, bone suppo...

The sequence of a comprehensive oral rehabilitation is described in a patient with generalized loss of tooth structure, highlighting the importance of restoring stomatognathic system function through a multidisciplinary approach. The patient was a 57-year-old woman diagnosed with occlusal disharmony, generalized attrition due to parafunction, mild dental crowding, defective restorations, carious lesions, and partial mandibular edentulism. Treatment was performed in two phases: initially, an esthetic mini-JIG was used, and occlusion was stabilized by increasing the vertical dimension using stamped composite resins restorations. In the second phase, veneers, vonlays, and implant-supported crowns were placed in the maxilla, along with a removable partial denture in the mandible, followed by delivery of a protective occlusal splint. The combination of analog and digital techniques allowed fo...

The most controversial institution incorporated into the Criminal Procedure Code of 2004 was the sentence of the acquitted, which is the power that the Superior Criminal Chamber has, when resolving the appeal that may have been filed against a previous acquittal sentence issued in favor of the accused (first instance), in being able to amend it in a conviction against this same procedural subject (second instance), sentencing decision that originally could only be questioned by means of the appeal of cassation. However, the national legislator, through Law No. 31592 of October 26th 2022, has decided to briefly reform this adjective norm, where the legal novelty is that this convicted person has the possibility of challenging his sentence via a new appeal, in which the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court is enabled to act as a judicial instance, this according to the exclusive rules of ...

This systematic review aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of research that proposes executive functions (EFs) as a pathway to understanding the individual factors that support aggressive behavior (AB) and, consequently, contribute to the maintenance of bullying dynamics within school contexts. The search for articles was conducted in databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed. Specifically, studies were selected that analyzed the contribution of EFs to AB or the role of perpetrator in bullying situations, conducted in the last 10 years with samples ranging from 4 to 12 years of age. The final result of the search yielded 11 articles, through which it was identified that while EFs contribute to the development of aggressive behavior, their impact may vary depending on the subtype of aggression evaluated. Thus, superior or inferior executive performance can translate into d...
