During the inspection procedures associated with fishing activities, it is necessary to ensure the right to defence of the holders of such authorisations, preventing their guarantees from being violated. By virtue of this, the objective of this article is to analyze the violation of the right to defense in the framework of fisheries inspections in Ecuador, based on the regulations of the Organic Law of Fisheries and Aquaculture (LOPAD) and its regulations. The inspection procedure was described, highlighting the mechanisms that guarantee the supervision and control of fishing activities so that the fishing inspections carried out by the public administration do not violate the right to defense of fishermen and fishing vessels. The methodology was qualitative; using the documentary and descriptive research method, information was collected through laws, books and other sources of informat...

This paper describes the methodology used to predict the behavior presented by a displacement boat when it sails in certain sea conditions. It is important that the naval engineer determines this behavior in the design phase of the boat, because this way you can evaluate the adverse performance, such as the rise of the propellant, shipping water on deck, slamming and excessive accelerations vertical. The harmful effects described above are predicted by the response spectra of the vessel for a given sea condition and for a given movement. The procedure used for obtaining Response Spectra consists of overlapping Unitary Operator Response in regular waves for a given vessel movement (RAO) and the energy spectrum of Pierson-Moskowitz, used to represent the sea in a certain condition. The operator of the boat united response was determined using a Dynamic Vessel program based on the Th...

Albino fish have greater economic value than fish that have coloration both at the ornamental level and at the consumption level for their meat. Th e slc45a2 gene is associated with the induction of an albinism phenotype initially reported in Zebrafish (Danio rerio Hamilton, 1822) and Medaka fish (Oryzias latipes Temminck & Schlegel, 1846). With the information registered in the Genbank of the slc45a2 gene of the Tilapia fish (Oerochromis niloticus Linnaeus, 1758) and the Gamitana (Colossoma macropomum Bleeker, 1869), specific primers were designed in silico to identify this gene in these two freshwater species. Both sets of primers were used fi rst on these two species (Tilapia and Gamitana). And then tested in the fi sh Paco (Piaractus brachypomus Cuvier, 1818) and Oscar (Astronotus ocellatus Agassiz, 1831) whose slc45a2 gene sequences are currently unknown. With the set of primers...

The introduction, breeding and hybridization of fluorescent transgenic fish in Peruvian territory has been going since 2006 as demonstrated in laboratory tests reported in this article. He has spoken to Peru Law No. 29811 establishing the moratorium on the production of income and living modified organisms into the country for a period of 10 years for cultivation or breeding, including water, to be released into the environment. The paper shows the existence of aquatic LMOs that are being propagated commercially by aquarists and / or ornamental fish farmers out of control and could potentially be released into the environment. However, preliminary results on the other side could initiate a first analysis and risk management at the laboratory and / or under controlled conditions with these organisms (zebra fish case) that could provide the basis for future decision making relevant to the ...

This study determined the operational capacity of the freezing tunnel of a fishing services company. The operation of the equipment was inspected, the theoretical operational parameters were collected, and in 40 selected points, the speed (1,8 – 4,4 m/s) and temperature (–25 °C and –11 °C) of the air, and the initial and final freezing temperatures of whole gutted mahi-mahi (Coryphaena hippurus) were evaluated. The real operating capacity of the equipment (77,2 kW) was calculated by applying mathematical expressions that allowed to determine the thermal loads, and later it was compared with the design capacity (75 kW). The speed and temperature of the air inside the equipment and the temperature distribution of the product were not uniform. They depended on the location of the fans and the measurement points. These variations affected the thermal loads generated by the product an...

The production of fishmeal and fish oil is essential in the food industry, but it involves high energy consumption and significant thermal losses. This paper presents the development of Python software for the energy and exergy analysis of a fishmeal and fish oil plant. Through computational simulations, the termal performance of key equipment such as boilers, stoves, dryers and tanks is evaluated. The results indicate that the model is accurate in most of the equipment, with differences of less than 2% in required heat and steam consumption, although discrepancies of 12.03% were identified in the rotadisk dryers, which require adjustments. The energy analysis highlights critical areas for improving energy efficiency. The software provides a comprehensive tool for industrial process optimization and is planned to be expanded with variable load simulations and thermoeconomic analysis to f...

It is proposed to use fish oil mixed with Diesel 2 oil in diesel engines, by adding it in volumetric proportion to the amount of diesel fuel. This mixture is used as an alternative fuel to reduce diesel fuel consumption; its use is low cost, which makes it feasible and convenient for use in diesel engines of small and medium power fishing boats. The tests were carried out at the National University of Engineering in an experimental single-cylinder engine and demonstrate the possibility of partially replacing Diesel 2 oil with fish oil. The rice–fish farming system is an efficient ecological model with economic, ecological, and social benefits, reduces environmental impacts and optimizes the use of resources. The objective of the research was to explore and analyze scientific publications through a systematic review and meta-analysis related to rice–fish intercropping. A review of publications hosted in the Scopus and PubMed database from January 2000 to April 2025 was conducted. Research articles were selected, excluding review articles, com-mentaries, book chapters, and letters, and only documents published in English were analyzed. The analysis shows that the countries with the highest number of publications were China and Bangladesh, with a proportion of 48% and 24% respectively, followed by Thailand with 10% and Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and India with 5% each. The fish species used in rice–fish systems ...

An important group of the Ecuadorian population is linked to the artisanal fisheries where most of the fresh fish consumed in the country originates. In the canton Manta, there are approximately 5,000 registered boats known as fibers, which are essential for fishing; however, in the last four years artisanal fishermen have endured massive economic losses by theft of fishing gear and engines at sea, a situation that sometimes it’s even mortal for the crew. The research is based on the situational analysis of artisanal fisheries and the existing problems in the management of its activities, proposing the implementation of a management model to decrease piracy on the high seas and solve other problems related to it. The main Objective of this work is to propose a model to improve the management of artisanal fisheries in Canton Manta.

Nematodes are parasites widely distributed in aquatic environments and are among the helminths of greatest relevance to global public health. Among the species that affect fish, some exhibit zoonotic potential, that is, they are capable of infecting humans. In parasitized individuals, infections may manifest in different clinical forms, including larval penetration of the gastric or intestinal mucosa, leading to inflammatory processes and, in some cases, gastrointestinal complications. In this context, the present study aimed to conduct a systematic review on the occurrence and distribution of zoonotic nematodes in fish in Brazil, with emphasis on identifying the species involved and their main hosts. Articles published between 2000 and 2025, written in Portuguese and English, and restricted to the Brazilian territory were included. A total of 63 articles were selected, allowing a compre...
