In this article we study the wave propagation over materials consisting of two components: one component is simple elastic while the other has  a nonlinear internal dampingwith elastic coefficients dependent on time; both components having source terms. Byusing the potential well method we obtain the global existence, we also show that theenergy of the system decays uniformly to zero,

Viruses have been present throughout human history, causing diseases due to infections and food poisoning; they have caused frequent public health problems worldwide. These illnesses are usually mild, moderate, or severe in nature. The personal hygiene of food handlers and processing processes should be checked periodically. Virus detection protocols and safety measures should be continually reviewed as viruses change their mode of infection. The objective of this review was to discuss the possible routes of virus transmission to humans through food. Important topics have been reviewed such as: definition of food viruses, presence, and types of viruses in food, enteric viruses, zoonotic viruses, water as a means of transmission, risks of infection, other non-conventional foods as potential transmitters of viruses and food safety, in addition to current and future challenges, research wor...

The main objective on this research is the development of finding the optimal parameters for a routing algorithm for network routers based on the ant algorithm described as AntNet. The optimum parameters for this type of algorithm improve a more efficient alternative to those given by the RIP, EIGRP and OSPF routing protocols, to be applied in a data network. This shall be tested in two networks and routers defined, taking the same characteristics for the three groups: RIP, OSPF and by the result provided by the genetic algorithm implemented using a static network. The system recognizes the best path between networks of routers, based on the principle of AntNet networks or networks of ants, which are the best way from exploring almost all roads, using estimergia to go there and make optimal. MatLab was used to detect the best way. Later this road was implemented in a real network data, s...

This paper presents an optimal control strategy for the Zika virus disease with sexual transmission. A mathematical model for the transmission of the Zika virus is considered with three preventive measures as control, namely: the prevention of the sexual contagion with the use of condoms and the orientation in the transmission of Zika in the homosexual and heterosexual relations, the campaigns against vectors and the protection of the society regarding the contagion by mosquito bites. We examine the implementation of various combinations of the control strategies in order to determine the most cost-effective one. The necessary conditions for the optimal controls are determined using Pontryaguin’s maximum principle and the optimality problem is solved using Runge-Kutta fourth order scheme. Based on the computational results, we conclude that the most efficient control strategy is when i...

A bibliographic review was done to update and systematize information on Toxocara human infection. Transmission mechanisms, epidemiology, clinical forms, diagnostic methods and treatment are described. Its importance as an infectious cause of blindness in young people that is potentially preventible and curable by early diagnosis is emphasized. Proposal is done to establish epidemiological surveillance, improve current laws to reduce transmission risk to the general population and increase knowledge on this infection in Peru.

Introduction: Cough is a key symptom of tuberculosis (TB) as well as the main cause of transmission. However, a recent literature review found that cough frequency (number of coughs per hour) in patients with TB has only been studied once, in 1969. The main aim of this study is to describe cough frequency patterns before and after the start of TB treatment and to determine baseline factors that affect cough frequency in these patients. Secondarily, we will evaluate the correlation between cough frequency and TB microbiological resolution. Methods: This study will select participants with culture confirmed TB from 2 tertiary hospitals in Lima, Peru. We estimated that a sample size of 107 patients was sufficient to detect clinically significant changes in cough frequency. Participants will initially be evaluated through questionnaires, radiology, microscopic observation drug susceptibility...

Pregnancy in a woman living with HIV continues to be an important health problem that involves not only the pregnant woman but also the product of pregnancy due to the high risk of transmitting the virus during pregnancy, the time of delivery and breastfeeding maternal. Despite the years the selected studies continue to report that the reduction of vertical transmission of HIV is achieved with the early diagnosis of the infection in the pregnant woman, reducing the maternal viral load using antiretroviral therapy in pregnancy and in timing of delivery, elective cesarean delivery, discontinuation of breastfeeding, and antiretroviral prophylaxis in the newborn.

Infection by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) continues to be a perinatal health problem globally and in our country, due to the increase in contagion in pregnant women who run the risk of vertical transmission of HIV to their baby during the pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding. Various publications mention that the prevalence of vertical transmission of HIV varies according to different authors between 3.8% and 17%. In Peru it is reported at 4%. Among the risk factors associated with vertical transmission of HIV, the following are mentioned: absence of antiretroviral therapy during prenatal care with adjusted odds ratio (aOR) ranging from 2.41 to 17.20; absence of a program for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV with aORa of 4.6 to 40.6; absence of prenatal control ORa 4.6; home delivery with aOR of 3.35 to 8.10; emergency cesarean delivery with OR of 4.32; ...

The vehicle routing problem is one of the most studied problems in Operations Re-search. Different variants have been treated in the past 50 years and with technological advances, new challenges appear. In this thesis, we introduce a new variation of the VRP appearing in wireless networks. The new characteristic added to this well-know problem is the possibility of pick-up information via wireless transmissions. In the con-text considered here, a unique base station is connected with the outside and a vehicle is responsible for collecting information via wireless connection to the vehicle when it is located in another sufficiently close station. Simultaneous transmissions are permitted. Time of transmission depends on the distance between stations, the amount of infor-mation transmitted, and other physical factors (e.g obstacles along the way, installed equipment). Information to be sent...

We present the first hardware implementation for a FPGA-based universal link for the transmission of different low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) connections through a single LVDS connection between different devices. The main objective of this work is to reduce the number of wires in a network, for example in some satellites, with several groups of devices, to a single LVDS connection. This paper proposes a new communication protocol for successfully coding and decoding the data sent through the single connection. We propose a solution for one of the difficulties of LVDS standard due to the amount of wires needed for a duplex connection, significantly reducing the amount of wires required for a large network. The proposed solution has been implemented in an Atlys board with a Spartan 6 FPGA showing promising results.
