Peru’s Amazon rainforest is being destroyed because the timber industry only uses 3% of trees per hectare. Therefore, timber companies cannot be established in the forest, and 97% of trees are unused. These trees are eventually burned to clear land for formal and informal agriculture. This article proposes to use more trees given that records of the last 40 years show that all tree species can be used for some purpose if they are processed appropriately with simple sawmill and drying techniques. The analysis shows that if less than 7% of the available trees is used, it will be financially and economically feasible to establish primary industries in the forest itself. This creates permanent job positions and enables a sustainable use and renovation of the forest; thus ensuring the preservation of the Amazon rainforest, which does not allow growing any foreign tree species.

The Camaná-Mollendo Basin is an active-margin depression ~NW-SE elongated, which is located in the forearc of southern Perú and extends from the Coastal Cordillera to the Perú-Chile Trench. Introduction. Virtual obstetric psychoprophylaxis enhances prenatal care by improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes. Objectives. To evaluate virtual obstetric psychoprophylaxis and its association with maternal and perinatal outcomes. Methods. An observational, descriptive, and correlational study was conducted at the EsSalud Aurelio Díaz Ufano Hospital (Lima, Peru) from September 2020 to September 2021. Introducción: La psicoprofilaxis obstétrica virtual optimiza el cuidado prenatal al mejorar la salud materna y neonatal. Objetivos: Evaluar la psicoprofilaxis obstétrica virtual y su asociación con resultados materno perinatales. Métodos: Estudio observacional, descriptivo y correlacional realizado en el Hospital EsSalud Aurelio Díaz Ufano (Lima, Perú) entre setiembre 2020 y setiembre 2021. El presente trabajo de investigación se realizó en el departamento de Loreto, provincia de Maynas, en los aserraderos que se encontraban en actividad, las mismas que recayeron en: Netrimac SAC, Raúl Oswaldo Oliveira García E.I.R.L, Zambito E.I.R.L.y Sico Maderas S.A.C. La información fue recolectada en los meses de Marzo - Abril del presente año. El estudio tuvo como finalidad cuantificar la generación residuos sólidos en los aserraderos de Iquitos y proponer alternativas de aprovechamiento con tecnologías limpias. Deforestation of flooded (várzea) and non-flooded (terra firme) forests caused by firewood consumption at tile factories (olaria) was investigated in Abaetetuba Island at the Amazon estuary. Várzea is spatially limited, the area is only 3% of the whole Amazon, however, it is heavily influenced by human activities, especially by the cultivation of acaí palm (Euterpe oleracea Mart.). The trees are cut down for the olarias. The number of tree species are small, and they have less wood density than terra firme tree species because the várzea is flooded twice a day throughout the year. The diabetic maculopathy is the pathophysiological consequence of VEGF action. The use of anti-VEGF (Bevacizumab) intravitreal has demonstrated efficacy and safety. Objectives: To determine the effect of treatment with anti-VEGF (Bevacizumab) intravitreal on visual acuity in patients with diabetic maculopathy. Method: A case-control study was conducted. The population are patients with diabetic maculopathy. Patients found improvement in visual acuity (logMAR delta greater than or equal to 0.3) and no improvement in visual acuity (delta less than 0.3 logMAR). Previous studies have demonstrated that attenuation coefficients can be useful towards characterizing thyroid tissues. In this work, ultrasonic attenuation coefficients were estimated from healthy human thyroids in vivo using a clinical scanner. The selected subjects were five young, healthy volunteers (age: 26 ± 6 years old, gender: three females, two males) with no reported history of thyroid diseases, no palpable thyroid nodules, no smoking habits, and body mass index less than 30 kg/m2. The liquid product obtained from tire pyrolysis process, called tire pyrolysis oil (TPO), has a great attraction as an alternative fuel, as it has a viscosity of 5.43 cSt (Sharma et al., 2016), density of 921 kg/m³ (Gamboa et al., 2020), surface tension of 0.028 N/m (Chumpitaz et al., 2019), and higher heating value of 46.32 MJ/kg (Das et al., 2017), which are similar to diesel oil. En este artículo presentamos una actualización del estado de conservación del “cortarramas peruano”, indicando su escasa presencia dentro del área de distribución de la especie y sus amenazas. Desde Tumbes hasta Ancash se han identificado solo seis lugares donde existen poblaciones de más de 10 individuos y tres sitios en los que se reproduce. Los resultados indican que en total la población actual sería inferior a 500 individuos. Estos sitios contienen especies de flora representativa del matorral desértico peruano, varias de las cuales están amenazadas. Los sitios son muy pequeños (entre 5 y 150 ha), están muy fragmentados y se encuentran en inminente peligro de destrucción debido a la expansión urbana y agrícola, tala ilegal, sobre pastoreo e introducción de especies vegetales exóticas.

In this article, we present an update on the conservation statuts of the Peruvian Plantcutter. We find little presence of the species within its distribution area we catalog threats to the remaining populations. From Tumbes to Ancash only six sites have been identified with populations of more than 10 individuals and only three sites where the species is known to reproduce. Results indicate that the current total population is less than 500 individuals. These sites where the species is found contain floral species typical of the Peruvian desert scrub, several of which are threatened. Sites are very small (between 5 to 150 ha), highly fragmented and are under immediate threat of destruction due to agriculture, urban expansion, illegal logging, livestock foraging, and the introduction of exotic plant species.

Demostrar si el tamaño tumoral mayor de 5 cm es un factor pronóstico para la disminución de sobrevida actuarial de los pacientes con sarcoma primario de mama. Materiales y métodos: Estudio de casos y controles anidado a cohorte, donde se incluyó 20 historias clínicas de pacientes adultas con diagnóstico de sarcoma primario de mama entre los años 2010 al 2020, de los cuales se dividió en 2 grupos: 13 con tamaño tumoral mayor igual a 5 cm y 7 con tamaño tumoral menor a 5 centímetros.
