Las cuestiones disputadas se planteaban en las universidades medievales sobre temas que se podían y necesitaban debatir. Los derechos humanos, como invención moderna, plantean cuestiones -asumidas en este trabajo- cuya necesidad es impostergable, pero sospechamos que no todas las teorías del derecho pueden definirlos, fundamentarlos y garantizarlos.

The following interviews aim to present this year’s theme, “Crisis and Futures of Capitalism: Power, Technology, and Environment.” For this purpose, we spoke with researchers Maritza Paredes and Anke Kaulard. Throughout the interview, key concepts were discussed to understand the environmental issues in current capitalism, such as the notions of “territory,” “territorial conflict,” and “climate justice.” In this approach, the need to understand the territory holistically is emphasized as a social and symbolic production, that is both contested and negotiated by various actors and in which meaning, interdependence with nature, historical processes, social practices, and power relations are inscribed. Additionally, the limitations of how the state is structured to address these conflicts are discussed. Similarly, attention is drawn to the various responses communities und...

Jauja es una de las ciudades peruanas más antiguas, con una historia colonial y republicana de notable importancia simbólica. La zona central de esta ciudad se mantiene aún como el espacio que guarda muchos de los códigos estéticos y morales de la otrora hegemonía jaujina como centro urbano en la región central peruana. Por su centralidad respecto del conglomerado urbano mayor, además, Jauja es un espacio vivo y en constante reconfiguración por los diversos tipos de actores y prácticas que tienen lugar en (y sobre) este espacio, vinculado también a la dinámica productiva de los andes centrales desde la agricultura y el comercio. This article examines the protracted territorial conflict between Venezuela and Guyana over the Essequibo region from a perspective of historical analysis. The scope of the study encompasses from the early attempts at peaceful conflict resolution in the late 19th century to contemporary challenges arising from the discovery of vast reserves of oil and gas in the disputed area; culminating with the April 2023 order from the International Court of Justice in The Hague directing Venezuela not to alter the status quo in the area until it issues a final judgment, which could take years.
