Objective: to compare in vitro the marginal seal degree of composite resin restorations photopolomerized with L.E.D light and conventional halogen light, was the objective of this research. It was used 20 healthy molars recently extracted, in each of them, standardized dimensions class V cavities were prepared in the buccal and palatal aspects. Both cavities were filled with nanoparticles composite resin, Filteck Z350 and Single Bond adhesive (3M). Vestibular restaurations were light cured using L.E.D light, and palatal with conventional halogen light. Once restored, the molars were maintained for 48 hours at 37 °C and 100 % humidity. Samples were subjected to 1 % blue methylene solution thermocycling regimen, and then the marginal leakage degree was assessed, making a palatal-vestibule coronal cut, and the evaluation with a stereoscopic microscopy. The frequency of specimens that leakag...

One of the most popularized treatments required by patients is the dental bleaching; this procedure has fairly predictable results, easy to perform, noninvasive, but is one of the procedures that the profesional has more doubts to do it, sometimes we make use of techniques and procedures that lack scientific support and lead to unsatisfactory results. This article presents a literature review and is performed a sequence that can guide the professional for proper protocol in the dental bleaching in different clinical situations. It is essential to make a correct diagnosis, not only when dental whitening procedures but in any proceedings, as well as to offer an approach from various perspectives interrelating the various specialties of dentistry in order to achieve the best possible results.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the solubility of gutta-percha in three solvents used in endodontics: xylol of traditional use, and the essential oils: eucalyptol and orange oil, of recent use, given the frequent need to remove the obturation material in radicular retreatment procedures. One hundred twenty samples of gutta-percha were prepared in a standardized way in small cylinders, being divided equally into four groups for immersion in three experimental solvents and distilled water (control group) during 2.5 and 10 minutes at room temperature. The solvent effect was recorded in grams of weight loss, calculating the difference between pre and post-immersion samples weight for each experimental time. The results were analyzed and compared by Tukey test (p <0.05). Under the conditions of this study it is concluded that, all experimental solvents were effective to dissolve ...

The use of MTA cement (mineral trioxide aggregate) to solve endodontics treatment complications, like pulpar floor camera perforations during root canal treatment, as well as a retrograde obturation material of apicectomy treatment, was the purpose of this investigation. White MTA Angelus, (Industria de productos odontologicos Ltda. Londrina-PR-Brazil) was used wich has 10 – 15 minutes as initial and final hardening time. The radiopacity showed by the material was somewhat superior to that of the dentine and oseo tissues, making its visualization in control x-rays easier. Inmediate and sixty days postoperative radiographic and clinical controls were made to cases. The results showed that there was adaptation from the cement to the retroapical and perforation cavity walls, producing an apical and marginal seal. The tricalcic silicate, tricalcic aluminate, dicalcic silicate, and tetracal...

In the reconstruction of endodontically treated teeth we have many clinical possibilities and this is due to the advancement of materials and technologies. The job of the professional is to be qualified to accomplish the current procedures modifying its protocols. The most commonly materials used for cementing posts are glass ionomer, resin modified glass ionomer and resin cements. For all these materials we need to obtain a homogeneous, thin layer without cracks or bubbles. These characteristics are difficult to achieve because of especial characteristics of root canal. A review of literature on the materials and techniques commonly used in the cementation of prefabricated post is presented and a protocol that can guide the clinician to obtain predictable and reliable results over time is proposed.

Aim: To compare the sealing capacity of mineral trioxide (MTA®) and tricalcium silicate (Biodentine®) for retrograde filling in single-root permanent teeth. Materials and methods: Thirty-eight permanent single-root teeth with complete apical closure were selected and randomly divided into two experimental groups (n = 15): Group 1: MTA®, and Group 2: Biodentine®, in addition to positive and negative controls. Root treatment was performed with the MTWO rotary system, and obturation was carried out by means of the continuous wave thermoplastic system (Beefill) using Grossman-type cement as a sealant. Apical end apicoectomy was performed followed by the preparation of standardized retro-apical cavities and the respective fillings with MTA ® and Biodentine® according to the study group. Subsequently, the specimens were subjected to an apical filtration process of Chinese ink and transpa...
