Global competition extends several challenges to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) organisations. There is an increasing need for these firms to adopt strategies for productivity improvement. Six Sigma is a data driven methodology supported by statistical, mathematical and managerial techniques for improving the bottom line effectively. In this paper, an application of DMAIRC model of Six Sigma is presented in context to a quality improvement initiative in an MSME organisation. DMAIRC is an effective alternative to linear DMAIC model, as it provides opportunity to review results and diagnose additional improvements. The additional improvements are checked for feasibility and implemented through additional improvement cycles. The study also demonstrates integration of the quality management techniques such as Pareto analysis, cause and effect analysis, current reality tree, desi...

Nutritious foods are needed for the continuously growing population together with the nutrient for plant growth and production. Inorganic chemical-based fertilizers have been base and are used heavily in today’s soil management procedures, posing serious health and environmental concern. Biofertilizer has been recognized as a reasonable solution for improving soil fertility and crop output in sustainable farming. The use of beneficial microorganisms as biofertilizers has escalated its importance in the agricultural industry due to its potential significance in food safety and sustainable crop production. Biofertilizers can be a valuable component of a comprehensive nutrient management strategy. Overall, nitrogen fixers (N-fixers), potassium and phosphorus solubilizers, growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), endo and ectomycorrhizal fungi, cyanobacteria, and other beneficial microscopic...

Purpose: Prognostic value of pathologic complete response (pCR) and extent of pathologic response attained with anthracycline-free platinum plus taxane neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is unknown. We report recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) according to degree of pathologic response in patients treated with carboplatin plus docetaxel NAC. Patients and methods: One-hundred and ninety patients with stage I-III TNBC were treated with neoadjuvant carboplatin (AUC6) plus docetaxel (75 mg/m2) every 21 days × 6 cycles. pCR (no evidence of invasive tumor in breast and axilla) and Residual cancer burden (RCB) were evaluated. Patients were followed for recurrence and survival. Extent of pathologic response was associated with RFS and OS using the Kaplan-Meier method. Results: Median age was 51 years, and 52% were node-positive. pCR and ...

Tropical pyomyositis is characterized by deep suppurative skeletal muscle infection most commonly by Staphylococcal Aureus (S. aureus) with increasing incidence of infection by community acquired methicillin resistant S. aureus(CA-MRSA). The initial clinical presentation is generally non-specific and requires a high index of suspicion. We report the clinical course of a child from subtropical area of North India who developed multiple deep pyogenous collections, complicated with CA-MRSA septicaemia and followed by unusual complications consistent with Guillain-Barré Syndrome.

Weeds are the major burden for rice-growing farmers in the case of direct-seeded rice due to the preemptive competition of weed in the species early seedling stage. A field experiment was carried out during the spring season in 2021 to evaluate the effect of different weed management practices and row spacing on dry directed-seeded spring rice under the Prime Minister Agriculture Modernization Project (PMAMP) at Rice Super Zone, Kanchanpur, Nepal. The experiment was laid out in a two-factorial randomized complete block design (RCBD) with twelve treatments and three replications. The highest number of effective tillers per m2 was obtained in weed-free plots (531.67), which is statistically similar to Pretilachlor fb 1HW (505.42). Row spacing of 10 cm showed a significantly higher number of effective tillers per square meter (521.94). A higher grain yield was observed in weed-free plots (6...

Purpose: Among the many factors fueling the inflationary tendencies in an economy such as monetary shocks, structural shocks, demand shocks, external shocks and demographic changes, the issue of inflation (INF) has also been found to be related to fiscal policy decisions of the government. The purpose of this study is to investigate the inflationary tendencies in India particularly from the fiscal point of view. The study also examines the influence of other potential determinants such as output growth rate, interest rate, tradeopenness (TO) and oil price inflation (OPI). Design/methodology/approach: To examine the dynamic nature of association between fiscal deficit and inflation, the study applies the Toda-Yamamoto (1995) test and Breitung and Candelon (2006) test to investigate the nature of causality in time and frequency domain frameworks. In addition, to scrutinize the possibility ...

The following paper will reveal the varieties of English pronunciation in India, its features and characteristics. This research helped us to consider the history of occurrence of English in India, the influence of local languages on it, the birth of its own unique English, which is used in India now. The research highlights the impact of English on Indians in general and its modification as the individual language differs from other English variants. The paper illustrates the features of translation and vocabulary in Indian English, which will explore the specification uses of it. The research also provides variations of Indian English as dialect and pronunciation in India because it changes from north to south and east to west. To complete our study, we used a lot of methods, such as observation, comparative, elicitation approaches, collection and analysis of diverse information. Such ...

Inverse methods involving compressive sensing are tested in the application of two-dimensional aperture-synthesis imaging of radar backscatter from field-aligned plasma density irregularities in the ionosphere. We consider basis pursuit denoising, implemented with the fast iterative shrinkage thresholding algorithm, and orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) with a wavelet basis in the evaluation. These methods are compared with two more conventional optimization methods rooted in entropy maximization (MaxENT) and adaptive beamforming (linearly constrained minimum variance or often “Capon's Method.”) Synthetic data corresponding to an extended ionospheric radar target are considered. We find that MaxENT outperforms the other methods in terms of its ability to recover imagery of an extended target with broad dynamic range. Fast iterative shrinkage thresholding algorithm performs reasonably...

Cloud computing is about delivery of different computing services involving databases, analytics, software, networking with the use of internet to enhance innovation, incorporate flexibility in resources and broaden profitability. However, Internet of Things (IoT) is an essential system for interrelating computer devices, digital machines, people and others which are offered with unique identifiers where data can be transferred with human involvement and wireless network. 42% of organisations in UK use cloud computing. The problem with cloud computing revolves around security and privacy issues as data is stored by a third party from inside or outside of the organisation leading to broken authentication, compromising of credentials and others. The use of IoT is vulnerable as it provides connectivity to devices, machines and people therefore, it needs to contain more storage that is made ...

As the adverse impacts of hydrological extremes increase in many regions of the world, a better understanding of the drivers of changes in risk and impacts is essential for effective flood and drought risk management and climate adaptation. However, there is currently a lack of comprehensive, empirical data about the processes, interactions, and feedbacks in complex human–water systems leading to flood and drought impacts. Here we present a benchmark dataset containing socio-hydrological data of paired events, i.e. two floods or two droughts that occurred in the same area. The 45 paired events occurred in 42 different study areas and cover a wide range of socio-economic and hydro-climatic conditions. The dataset is unique in covering both floods and droughts, in the number of cases assessed and in the quantity of socio-hydrological data. The benchmark dataset comprises (1) detailed rev...
