Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that is increasing worldwide and in Peru; so that patients suffering from this disease may present problems related to medications. The objective of this research was to provide a Pharmacotherapeutic Follow-up (SFT) service to older adult patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus; at the same time identify the type of problems and the causes that generate the Problems Related to Medications (PRM); as well as pharmaceutical intervention (FI) and pharmacotherapeutic compliance of patients for prevention. It is a prospective, descriptive, and longitudinal study. Using the tools of the Dáder methodology to carry out pharmacotherapeutic follow-up (SFT), the evaluation of compliance and knowledge was carried out using the Morisky-Green test; Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, who were treated at the I-4 Nauta Health Center, were evaluated for...

The objective of this study was to carry out pharmacotherapeutic follow-up (SFT) in patients with osteoarthritis, evaluating the level of knowledge, pharmacotherapeutic adherence, identification of drug-related problem (DRP) and quality of life. It is a descriptive, observational and longitudinal study in twenty patients diagnosed with osteoarthritis. The data collection, from the patients recruited in a private pharmaceutical office, was carried out by means of instruments that consist of the formulation of surveys carried out in the patient’s home. The predominant sex was female (90%) and an age range of 56 to 60 years (40%), with comorbidities being arterial hypertension (45%), osteoporosis and diabetes mellitus, the average of the intensity measurement scale pain was reduced by 2 points (p<0.05) and quality of life improved (p<0.05). The level of knowledge about osteoarthriti...

The indiscriminate use of antimicrobials (bactericidal, antifungals, or antivirals), used prophylactically in food or therapeutically in the poultry industry, has caused growing concern about the antimicrobial resistance of many microorganisms, endangering the effectiveness of prevention and the treatment of certain infections. Therefore, several production industries, including the poultry industry, are choosing to replace these commercial antimicrobials with natural antimicrobial agents that come from medicinal plants, evaluating the effects of their extracts or these secondary metabolites. Therefore, the study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial activity (bactericidal and antifungal) from a natural formulation of cimenol-citric acid ring (ACAC) against experimentally contaminated corn with Pseudomonas sp, Clostridium sp, Escherichia coli, Salmonella sp, Fusarium sp, Rhizopus sp and As...

Petroselinum crispum (Mill) Fuss is an aromatic herb that contains various phytochemical compounds in its aerial parts, among which polyphenols stand out; likewise, it is attributed antioxidant property. The objective was to evaluate the content of phenolic compounds, the antioxidant activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of Petroselinum crispum (Mill) Fuss and the preparation of a dermocosmetic cream. The determination of polyphenols was carried out applying the in vitro method of Folin Ciocalteu and; the uptake of free radicals, by the DPPH• and ABTS•+ methods. The hydroalcoholic extract obtained a yield of 3.94 % and through a phytochemical screening the presence of phenolic compounds, flavonoids, terpenes, lactones and anthraquinones was confirmed. The following results were obtained: 4.33 ± 0.0162 mg EAG/g of phenolic compounds and TEAC-DPPH• and ABTS•+ values of 6.4322 mg ...

Introduction. - The "nogal peruano" is a large tree distributed in several regions of Peru, mainly in areas of late secondary and mature forests. Species supplying antioxidant essential oils are considered valuable for health applications. Essential oils with various constituents show synergistic effects and can be an effective alternative to prevent diseases.Objectives. - To evaluate the chemical composition, antioxidant and anti-Candida albicans activity of the essential oil of Juglans neotropica Diels leaves.Materials and methods. - The essential oil was obtained by steam distillation. Its chemical composition was analyzed by GC-MS analysis and its antioxidant activity was evaluated according to DPPH• and ABTS•+ methods. In addition, its anti-Candida albicans activity was determined, adapting protocols, using ketoconazole as a reference. The oil was diluted in DMSO and incubated w...
