The indiscriminate use of antimicrobials (bactericidal, antifungals, or antivirals), used prophylactically in food or therapeutically in the poultry industry, has caused growing concern about the antimicrobial resistance of many microorganisms, endangering the effectiveness of prevention and the treatment of certain infections.
